Is this anybody else's first game jam?

I've always been fascinated by game jams, but I've never had the guts to join one until now. I had a ton of fun making my game Echolocation, but I learned that it's super important to leave a good amount of time for play testing and balancing.

If this is your first jam as well, post about your experience! What was your favorite part? Least favorite? How long have you been making games? And, of course, make sure to share a link to your game :)

First jam of any kind and it's been really fun, I've surprised myself in what I was able to pull off! (https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/462582) - I'll definitely be going again next year! :)

It's also my first game jam. I am very happy because I managed to finish game in 48 hours and see how important is testing game. There was an input error in my game, but luckily I managed to fix it .

My first game jam too, with 2 other guys, i make the art and animation, and like a lot!!! its much fun and satisfactory when see the final version.

Gv a look : https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/462460

This is my first game jam. I have been making small games before but I am currently working on a full fledged game right now. I found the time to be not quite as bad as I first thought, but I did wish I could polish up my game a bit more.

My game is Broken Robot which is a puzzle platformer where you can only press each button once per stage.

This is my first jam and game. I have messed around with pico8 before but never made a game from start to finish before.

My take on the theme was a one button only, and you use it to give Morse code commands:https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461185

I had done a 1 hour game jam before, but this was my first 48 hour jam... https://thiagohimself.itch.io/one-bullet-hell

Hey!! Ralph and I finished our first game jam AND first game and I would really like for you guys to try it and tell me what you think!

"One Item: Yo-Yo". Use your yo-yo to push, pull and swing yourself out of this crypt. Toying with the mechanic is crazy fun, and plus it plays right in your browser. Please rate it if you like it! Thanks! https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/463664

Yup, this is my first game jam. Decided to go solo since I wanted some kind of baseline of what I can do by myself, but more importantly, artists are in such high demand it was so hard trying to find one!

Here's the end result: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461706

This was my first game jam too, I just saw the announcement, realized I was free this weekend and attempted to make something for it. The best part was probably coming up with ideas for it, but when it came to cramming trying to implement those ideas that's where I kinda faltered.

Here's the game I made btw. Wish I was able to get it to run in-browser but I ran out of time: https://quid314.itch.io/number-line-runner

This was my first game jam too! I really tried to take the development in allotted chunks, and I think it made for a smooth process! I definitely learned a lot for my next jam! It was SO fun!

I'm handing out ratings for ratings on my game over here! Let me know what you think and I'll do the same!

So..... here's the story

I joined itch.io a few days back.... published a game which I did work on and then participated in this jam.

My first jam mind you.....

If you like DOS-ish platformers and cherries, you'll probably like this game

My first game jam too, although i already made several games and app using Unity. However, this is kinda my first time doing everything alone as I mainly programmer myself. Not everything made from scratch though as I already have library for several asset. Only have to learn a bit of Blender to do simple modeling and rigging (platforms and hand animation).

We've done a few "game jams" that were completely self-imposed before just as friends—basically just getting together for a weekend and seeing if we can make a game—but we've never joined any sort of public game jam competition until now. I don't expect we'll make the top 100 or anything, but I'm happy we did it and got the experience of making a game for a jam with real stakes. =P

Like one would expect with a game jam, there's some things I wish turned out better, but we're all still pretty happy with the end result, and we're hoping to polish it up a little bit and release a more complete version down the road.

Here's what we submitted: https://drizzlegames.itch.io/paparazzi-panic

My first jam as well! I somewhat regret not trying to form a team with anyone, because I feel like that could have made the experience a lot more fun and could have gotten a design/game even further.

It was extremely satisfying to have something finished at the end though, even though there wasn't a whole lot of sleep in that 48 hours haha.

Yep here! First ever game and game jam for me and my brother! Boy did we learn a lot and boy do we have to learn a lot. ;) We could have really used a third person that would have concentrated on testing and game play - I really like our idea and setting aaand the game works, but it is not yet that much fun to play...and yeah I guess this actually is what games are all about. :) but I'm pretty sure if we add some things here and there, it acutally could be kinda cool!

But it was so much fun! Looking forward to make something like this again asap! I highly motivated right now!

Yep this is also my first game jam

My game is called One Shot In The Chamber, a wave based survival game where you must fight off hordes of enemies with the catch being, you have only one bullet. Fortunately, the bullet is magic and you can summon it back to you or teleport to it. Using this unique ability, you must survive as long as possible in the chamber. Here is a screenshot of the game and the link to the game page: https://mark-auman.itch.io/one-shot-in-the-chamber

I love hearing about your stories! I'm pretty busy this week, but I'll do my best to play and rate as many of your games as I can :) From the ones I've seen, they look phenomenal for first-time jam games

This is my first game jam and I work completely alone too. I hope it went well for a first try.

My first game jam and the experiment i have was huge. Tip for everyone: Post your game before the deadline few hours or itch.io will be busted like this jam.

Here my game: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/463557

my game too

This is my first ever gamejam even though I'm working as a game dev since 2016. It was very challenging to not over engineer and make it simple.

I see a lot of shorter games getting traction and it makes me think that we could make a game even faster next time if we focus more and make things even more simple.

Try it here if you want:

It was a first with no real coding experience and doing everything solo from graphics to music, and it was quite some fun actually and although not the best around for sure, i'm quite happy with how the game turned out even with the many falws it still have (not that experienced, deadline, crunchtime, and upload shenanigans all that jazz :p)

here it is if you want to give it a shot  :)
