In Beat Trip, ever action you do is recorded to your beat bar, and when the groove comes back around, you loose control, as every action is repeated again, synced with the beat.

Wow the art style is stunning, great design and the mechanic is really original. It took some time until I understood that its repeating my last actions in the beat next time. Hard to get used to it, I think maybe 3 actions in a row would be easier to handle. But thats the theme maybe haha. I love it anyway! Congrats to your submission.

Developer

Hehe , we went back and fourth between fewer and more actions. It was hard restraining ourselves from giving the player all the control of their actions, and maybe we tunnel visioned a bit too much on the 'out of control' :P Glad you liked it! Loved your game aswell! :D

Cool concept, but the execution makes it a little frustrating to play. maybe i would get better at it if i played it more, but some sort of erasing feature would be helpful. The presentation is gorgeous though, great job!

Developer

Thank you for you're feedback! We wanted to character to feel 'out of control' but masterable but we might have skewed it a bit too much  to the uncontrollable side ^^ Erase function has been mentioned before and I think this is one of the features we would definitely look into getting in there! Possibly as a resource, so you couldn't just input exactly what you needed :)

Wah the artstyle and visuals look awesome!!! Super neat presentation!!

Loves the game! The art was great and the mechanic took some getting used to, but was really fun. Nice job!

Developer

<3 Thank you for playing! Glad you liked it! The mechanic is a bit rough around the edges, but we wanted to hammer home the 'out of control' theme :)

Very nice presentation. Gameplay is a bit rough around the edges and not that fun IMO but visuals are amazing.

Developer

Thanks for you feedback :)
We'd have loved to polished the gameplay more!

Props to the artist. The visuals were awesome. Especially the main menu art.

Maybe adding a mechanic where I could erase what I had on the tape or maybe reset the tape altogether would be awesome. Also some instructions or keybinding info would go a long way. :)

Great work on the whole.

Btw,  check out my game and tell me your views yeah? :)

Developer

ooh that is a neat idea!
I think had this been developed more i would without a doubt look into adding some kind of reset. It was quite down the list for us doing the jam, simply because the theme was out-of-control.

I am still reviewing my forced review queue, but once i am completed with that i will totally check out you game! :)

Yeah... I understand. There is only so much you can do in a 48 hour period.

Cheers and good luck :)

Very nice graphics and sound! Presentation is spot on! :D

Developer

Thank you for the kind words <3

I would love to hear a clap or snare on the off beat. You always want to be doing an action on the offbeat, and if you don't you literally move out of control. Without a sound on the off beat it's difficult to time and get in the flow. It's a great design that for the theme and would like to see more of it.

Developer(+1)

That's a really good point, it would've been a great improvement! Wish we'd thought of that at the time, heh!
Thanks for the feedback, it's really appreciated!

Balling bass line, beautiful art. I'm not a fan of the gameplay but that's because I don't have rhythm. I'd love to see a fuller version of this or another game from the same team

Developer

Thank you, glad you liked it!
And who knows, you might actually se something else from this team far in the future ;)

Developer(+1)

Haha, it's quite though even if you do have rhythm, so don't sweat it! 3/4 members of the team did an entry last year: https://sassynero.itch.io/parasite if you're interested :) Thank you for taking the time to play and comment <3

Nice work and good take on the theme.  Really like the artwork and the concept!

Developer(+1)

<3 Thank you for your kind words!

It looks absolutely stunning.

It seems pretty awkward to actually put the inputs in, game lagged on me and I filled in the beats with a buncha useless inputs.

Developer

Would you say your movement was.... Out of Control? ;D
Sorry to hear that the game lagged for you though! But thank you for playing! :D

Really awesome look and feel. I think it was a very unique idea, good work!

Developer(+1)

Glad to hear you liked it! We tried our best to do something original :) Thanks for playing! <3

I love the concept! I worked on something very similar.

I'm a bit stuck early on though, is there control to pick up the key? I can't seem to grab it.

EDIT: Oops, the controls are nicely placed in the environment, my bad.

I love the art, btw! The mechanics force you to slow down and think about programming useful sequences. I'd love to see this with some additional work put into level design. Probably more to explore here!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!

Yeah the turtorial hints while pretty are not the most clear, That is on us :)
Glad you liked it! Looking back we would definitely have spend more time fine-tuning level design, our first prototype had a procedural level build of chunks and it was quite late we realized a more fine-tuned approach would be better for this type of game xD

Really great art aesthetic, but I feel like the music could be more fun and interesting to match the art and overall vibe! Good work.

Developer

I completely agree! Had we had a smidgen more time, I would love to have poured the extra energy into the music! Thanks for playing and commenting <3

Very nice play on the theme, and presentation was dope!

Developer

Thank you for playing! <3

Amazingly good, I feel like this could be a published short game.

Developer

Thank you, truely! With a little bit of polish we could definitely try to get this out there :D

Submitted(+2)

Great concept, loving the visuals, the main mechanic is just great, the difficulty is really high i think. But this suits excellently the jam, nice!

Developer

Thanks for rating it <3  Glad you like it!

This is a monster of game concept, beautifully executed. Amazing jam work.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your wonderful comment<3

Submitted(+2)

It's really slick and I love how the game slips out of control trying to manage your inputs later on.

Developer

Thanks for playing and commenting! :D

Really cool art and awesome idea to fit the theme

Developer
