How does your game fit the theme?
In Beat Trip, ever action you do is recorded to your beat bar, and when the groove comes back around, you loose control, as every action is repeated again, synced with the beat.

The graphics, audio and idea are all really well executed. Seriously, the fact that you manged to create this art and think of an idea like this in 48 hours is incredible. The gameplay is, while a bit rough, still really fun.

The dificulty was a bit high, and it was easy to manipulate the system by just repeatedly mashing right click after jumping, diving and shooting. Maybe it could be fixed with a system in which you have to press diferent buttons in a specific time limit or you take damage? I'm not really sure. Also, the frame rate was kinda low, but that's probably because I played it on a laptop.

In conclusion, despite being a bit rough around the edges, the core concept, presentation and gameplay made it really fun!

I love the aesthetics and controls of the game! The rhythm components were confusing at first, but easy to get a handle on after a little bit of experimentation and presented a really cool mechanic. Something about the movement felt a little off, and I can't quite put my finger on it, but otherwise I think this would be a really compelling indie title with a little more time in development! Also, cudos to whoever did your art, it's stunning.

Really cool idea and great visuals! I found it a bit jarring to play (the movement was a bit too floaty for me), but it felt really good to figure out the rythmic combinations!

This is quite in-depth and stylish. I can see why it's always near the top of the popularity list. You definitely deserve it!

I liked the proposal of the game, and I liked the care you took in placing checkpoints on the map.

I missed a button to delete the defined commands, but I think that this way is ok, according to the Jam theme. hehe

Nice design. It still has a lot to be polished, but for a 48h jam, it is excellent. Very good!

Amazing presentation, like the whole looping movement queue as well.

Had some minor issues with collisions & having to leave and re-enter colliders but nothing serious. Some challenges felt quite frustrating in a way that's unrelated to the theme - there's a clash between the queued/delayed input queue elements  and anything that moves/triggers in real time.

Even so, it's a great submission - congrats!

Takes quite a bit of getting used to, but once you do you feel acomplished. I love the background graphics changing. I'd add a bit more invincibility frames. With a bit more polish, could easily could become a released game.

It's quite challenging (not in a bad way), especially if you let bar the fill up to much. Maybe there is a way to clear a space in the action bar, but I didn't find it, so I used the pickup move to reset. All in all a great game idea.

Loved the aesthetics and the unique game mechanic. Great job!

This game looks awesome! It fun to play too, but at some point I realized that using “pick up” action I can practically erase all other actions from the bar. So yeah, after that I just cheesed the hell out of the beat mechanic.

Nice aesthetics and BGM. I liked how it you incorporated the theme "Out of control"

Everything about this great! The art is to I love how every action you do( other than going left or right) is associated with the beat of the music. The  game really forces you to plan ahead and makes you strategize, but since your character is doing the set of movements she was previously doing, it adds more chaos to your decision making. When I first played this, I kinda found this frustrating but you eventually get used to it.

Nice aesthetics, gameplay was fun and intuitive. Great Jam Job!

Amazing art, and quite unique gameplay! Took me a bit to adapt but once I got in the groove it became really fun :)

Really cool entry! I like the beat mechanic. It was appropriately hard to control, but it lead me to have to play a few step ahead and set up a good sequence. The recoil on the gun stopped me from having a easy way to just run in a straight line. I enjoyed the music as well, it did eventually get repetitive, but it took a while which is pretty good considering it seemed to have a short loop

Developer

Thanks for playing and commenting! :D Glad you had the intended experience <3 I would have loved to give some more care to the music, but we were stretched a bit thin for time at the end, but I definitely agree ^^

Nice idea.

I think the game would have really benefited a music that had a more proeminent beat, and required you to press the key on the beats. Right now, it is a bit hard to understand when the beat will be added.

As others have pointed out, it would have been nice to be able to have a "rest" option, because when you fill up your bar, it becomes very chaotic. I also am not sure about the decision that you can move left and right as you want, maybe having a second tape for movements would have been more on point?

Overall, great entry :)

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! <3 We wanted the character to be out of control, but still wanted the player to have agency so we left horizontal movement in, but didn't include a 'rest'/erase option :) Would definitely be interesting to explore if we continue to work on this!

This game is amazing! The art style is great, and the concept is genius. It makes sure you think about what moves you make, and does so in a fun and interesting way. The game feels good to play :DD

Please check out my game if you'd like :)
