Wonderful! My first 5 star rating. The game mechanics good is and it makes the puzzle fun.  You have to choose the right time to become wolf. Although I die several times in one level, it still attracts me to continue. I like the presentation as well. Overall, the game is quite complete and fun to play.

Developer

thank you so much! I honestly didn't expect my game to be so well received!

Nice game! Good presentation and clean baseline gameplay, although the werewolf form can be a bit awkward.

Cool idea, and level 1 was very fun. However, I had a glitch in level 2 where the game would throw me out the spikes. Nevertheless, great work and I would like to see more of this game :)

Developer

Thanks!

Could you describe that glitch for me a bit more? There's a couple things I yvon it could have been off the top of my head. One was a glitch that I tried fixing through level design (shifting back a block right of a spike drops you on the spike). The other was an intentional feature meant for puzzles, that I just didnt communicate all that well (if you run out of werewolf time while on spikes, you turn back and lose your immunity). If it's something else, please let me know

I really enjoyed the idea. There where so fun moments where I planed to get over an obstacle by turning into a werwolf, but was denied by something I overlooked. So it fits the out of control theme well!

Submitted(+1)

It was fun playing your game! I like the idea of shifting into a werewolf. If you like this idea, keep working on it! A simple music track would help the presentation a lot too.  Awesome job submitting a cool game to this jam and I hope you improve your game making skills. If you have time, please check out my game :D

Developer

Thanks! This is definitely one where the tight time-limit really got in the way of a lot that I was wanting to do. If I'm not too busy in the next while, I'll probably rewrite it from the ground up and expand it into a full game

Also, I plan on rating the games of everyone who comments on mine, so I'll get to yours, probably after work today!

Submitted(+1)

Interesting interpretation on the theme however, the game could've been a bit more challenging. Great work though!

Developer

Thanks!

There was supposed to be a third level that expended on the challenge even more, but it crashed the game for some reason, and the 5 minutes left on the clock weren't gonna let me fix that. Maybe post-jam I can get it working!

Really cool idea and execution!

I really like the concept of 'losing control to defeat enemy'. But I think it would be better to have less platformer element in the beginning section to make the idea pop.

Submitted(+1)

I liked the game a lot. I little tutorial would have saved me some time of flailing about though. Still this is a really nice game. The graphics are really cute

Developer(+1)

yeah, looking back, the lack of tutorial is what really stopped this from being better. I initially didnt think I had time for a tutorial and a puzzle level because of how late I started, but I really could have.

Thanks for the feedback!

I got confused at the second level because I didn't expect to be able to detect enemies through walls, but I eventually figured it out.

Developer

Glad you were able to figure it out! As someone else pointed out, I really should have put more effort into making level 1 a tutorial for how the game plays

Submitted(+1)

This is a great interpretation of the theme! It's well executed, though I think the platformer controls could be better.

Developer

After the jam, I'm considering expanding this demo, and I'll probably use a different game engine when I do. This one helped me make the game in time, but it really didn't give me much control of how the game feels

Thanks for the feedback!

The Game is pretty cool and unique well done!

Submitted(+1)

I loved the idea of turning into a werewolf to walk through spikes, but having to time it with the guard above in the second level, with just a little refinement, you could make a full game of this. I didn't like that coming out of the werewolf state seemed random, it'd be nice to show the player when youll break out of the bloodlust haze somewhere in the UI. Great game

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I'll be sure to add a timer bar or something if I make a post-jam update

I like the idea and I dont know if its intended or not but the fact that the werewolf doesn't know that he can jump fits with its simple mind and bloodlust that overshadows any rational thought like jumping to reach enemies. On that note he also doesn't seem to understand that pit = bad. Cute little puppy has a lot to learn ;) Only real downside is that its looking kinda washed out and not crisp and sharp as pixelart should and the occasional gap between tiles but overall a solid concept. Could be interesting with more transformations with different goals and immunities each like a mervolk that can swim, vampire that can fly but not in sunlight etc.

Developer

I love that multiple transformations idea, and I'll definitely use it if I decide to expand this game after the jam! Only so many puzzles that can be made for just the werewolf, but having to pick between multiple forms through a puzzle would add a lot of depth!

As for the pixelart, yeah... I noticed there were gaps, but I wasn't really sure how to fix it, as I'm pretty new to the game engine I used. It probably has to do with how I had it render the game at pixel-for-pixel size, then scale it up to screen size. Probably should have just scaled up the sprites I was using manually

Submitted(+1)

hey man really well designed second level.

Submitted(+1)

A really good twist on the concept! A bit of music and animations would of been nice, but for a jam it's a great job!

Developer

Thank you!

Haha, yeah, I wish I could have had music and animation; but, it was just me this year, with no artist. Maybe that'll be something that gets added after the jam

Submitted(+1)

The concept is fantastic, I love it!

Submitted(+1)

Wow it seems you still got through a lot despite starting late! Sound and visuals on point there- It's a shame you didn't have more time because I was really likely the concept. Only complaint is that some areas made the wolf form feel more like a coinflip than a risk-reward decision (Aka the spikes at the start of level 2) but I still quite enjoyed :)

Developer

If you know just what you're doing those spikes can be beaten every time ;)

but, yeah, I made the werewolf move in a random direction if there were no enemies nearby -- a coin-flip. Maybe a different method of picking a direction would have been better

Submitted(+1)

Good lord I'm silly! Okok I take back that criticism this is real clever! - Review now reflects this better!

Developer

Thank you so much! I was a little worried that that puzzle may have been a bit hard, but I'm glad you got it now!

Submitted(+1)

In hindsight I'd argue it was telegraphed well enough :) I've been up for 25 hours now so not the ideal audience haha

Submitted(+1)

Fun concept, very fun game! Well done!

Developer

Thank you! Still sad I had to remove the last level at the last minute, but I hope what's left was enough!
