Releasing a key on your keyboard causes you to lose access to it. Use all arrow keys and you've lost control of your player character!

Hm, some observations from my gameplay: when the platforms moves and you're trying to fall on top of it, it doesn't count the detection and it seems as if my character just falls through the platform. Also, sometimes the keys don't recharge when I restart the level, not sure what causes this problem. Apart from that, it's a really tricky and challenging yet satisfying puzzle game, I liked it a lot!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!! The platforms had one way collision, so you would fall through them if you didn't land on top of them. I realised later on that moving platforms don't really like one way collision lol.

Releasing a key causes you to loose it, no matter when you initially pressed it. I was going to make the code for this more complex, but time constraints limited that.

I'm glad you still enjoyed it!!!

Looks like a platformer but is actually a puzzle game! All the core concepts are well done :)

Nice idea and play on the theme :)  Would have liked if the levels were a bit more flexible though, it felt like there was only one correct way to beat the level.

Developer

due to time constraints we had less time than we had hoped, but definitely making levels less linear is a plan for the future if we ever try for a full release! :D

Pretty cool game. I think there were a few platformer physics/control things you could have used in this game that would have added a lot of strategy and depth:

* Holding both directions should stop you from moving instead of having priority to the left

* Holding the jump button should let you keep jumping until you release it

Developer

Thanks for playing! That first one was meant to be the case but I didn't think it was worth bothering with since you arent going to be doing that much in the first place.  Releasing an arrow key causes you to stop moving in that direction, as we dont have any momentum physics. I'll definitely consider it though!

The second one is a matter of balance vs consistency. We ultimately decided that jumps were more useful in our game, so we had to nerf it basically. You would notice people never releasing the jump key and thats more of a chore and less of a fun challenge. We'll still test it out and see how it goes though.

I appreciate you for playing our game and giving us suggestions :DD

Yeah I guess, holding both directions could be very useful though. I tried doing it on some of the moving platforms. Then I would be able to release the direction I didn't want to go and keep moving.

Cool concept and the graphics, music, and gameplay are great

There are a number with this concept, which is already cool, but I'm impressed by the extras you managed to fit in to add to the overall feel in just 48 hours. Nice one

Developer

Thanks for playing! I never felt that this idea was going to be unique to me alone, so I opted to make the mechanic part of the gameplay, rather than the gameplay focused solely on the mechanic. The moving/rotating platforms were essential to making it so that it's a platform with a twist, rather than a game with a mechanic that happens to be a platformer. I hope that made sense :DD

(+1)

Absolutely! And I think the execution was pretty sweet all things considered

The presentation = graphics + animation + sounds are very good. Unfortunately I already played a game like this during this jam and was less surprised by your game. Overall I had fun playing your game and this made me realize how much I am used to "adjust" my jumps by pressing key far to  many times for this  game ;)

Developer

Thank you for playing!! If you could send me a link to the other game, i would love to try it out and see what they did differently :D

Here is the link https://osoka.itch.io/out-of-controls  hope you will enjoy playing "your game" made by someone else. ;)

First of all I would like to say that the music is very good!

I like the main mechanic, but feel like every level had only one correct "answer". I don't know if that's what you were going for tho.

It was nonetheless an enjoyable experience to figure out the correct "answer" to your levels.

Side Note: When I completed the last level I ended up with a blackscreen instead of the menu/credits, I'm not sure if that's a bug or not.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! The linearity of the levels was something i had to do due to time constraints. The black screen is a bug, as it was meant to take you back to the main menu. I didn't know about it until the very end.

I'm glad you enjoyed the music and levels!

Art,controls and music doesn't feel like a jam game.

Well Done.

Great game! The audio fits in really nicely and it's very fun to play. The mechanic is cool as well. I do feel the difficulty curve was a bit high but maybe I'm just bad at puzzles. :)

Developer(+1)

thanks for playing!! Yeah we didn't have time to gradually ramp up difficulty so the levels may have spiked somewhere around the middle lol

Submitted(+2)

Very clever idea and clever levels too!

Developer

thank you so much!!

Amazing idea! This is one of the best games I played this jam. The only minor flaw is like what the other comment said, I wish I could view the whole level before I started it.

Developer

Thank you so much!!

Fantastic entry, Barwani! I'm impressed, I had a lot of fun playing this. It was very challenging in a good way, and I had to play it all the way to the end. The controls were responsive and the feedback was so good. I felt like I always knew which keys I had available an which ones I didn't, due to the sfx alone. Being able to see the level beforehand would be nice. Maybe a panning shot, but that's probably time you wouldn't have had.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing my game GE!! If i ever choose to continue this game in the future, i would certainly involve a way to view the level in it's entirety.

Submitted(+1)

This is an interesting take on the theme, turning a platformer into a puzzle. It was pretty hard to fight my instincts, but I finished it regardless. I find it a little annoying that I can't see the entire level beforehand, but overall this was pretty fun.

Developer

Thanks for checking out my game!! I was considering allowing the player to zoom out a bit to see the level but i decided against it due to time constraints. I'll be sure to check your game out too :))
