This game is really well made! The idea of adding new rules were the right play by the devs here. Can't believe being a card is this stressful.

Developer

Thanks for playing
Haha it is super stressful. Hope you enjoyed. How many rules did you play?

Submitted(+1)

Very polished game! Can be quite hectic as well.

Developer

Thanks for playing.
Yes it becomes stressful if you have 2+ rules. Our play-testers have played a level with 5+ rules. That is super super hectic.

Submitted(+1)

Super fun card game! Pretty stressful playing as a card. There are so many rule sets, it's amazing how much replayability was crammed into such a short amount of time.

Developer

Thanks for playing.
Yes, there are more than 10+ rules in 5 levels. A level with 3+ rules is super difficult as your chances of getting played is way higher.
Did you liked the "Figure out the rules on the go part"? Or do you think we should have show the rule and then added it?

Submitted(+1)

Having to figure out and remember rules while under a time limit to change colour and number is an interesting mechanic for this theme. Well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing.
Yes indeed the game is super creative. I really enjoyed developing and play testing it myself. How many rules did you play?
Try reaching a level with 3+ rules.

Submitted(+1)

super well made game

Developer

Thanks for playing.
Hope you enjoyed playing the game. How many rules did you played?

Submitted(+1)

I'm not sure, I found the rules thing pretty confusing

Developer

You had to find out what the rules of the table are. Each level has a set of new rules.

Submitted(+1)

saw this on stream, was really fun, great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing.
Hope you enjoyed. How many rules did you play?
BTW where can I find the stream?

Submitted(+1)

Super unique idea, and among one of the most polished looking/feeling games I've played thus far. The only thing that got in the way of my fun a bit, was that my first match dragged on so long, and it was only stuck at the basic 2 UNO rules. I really wanted to get to some more interesting ones. However, it's a great game overall. Good job!

Submitted(+1)

I definitely had the same sentiment. The first round, like UNO usually goes, dragged on. So it was both realistic and frustrating! I almost didn't realize there was more complexity to the game before I checked the comments. Going back for a second try for sure.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing.
Yes, indeed the game has a total of 5 amazing levels.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for playing.
The game isn't a UNO game but if you know UNO it does help. Let me tell you that there are 9+ rules in total of 5 levels.
Rules can be odd/even, Prime, +1 Card ,+2 card ,+4 Card and Same color/Number and many others. Ina level when there are more than 3+ rules it is super difficult to survive as your chances of getting played are higher.

Hi thanks for sharing this on my stream!

It was fun really trying to stretch my brain and figure out what the hidden rules were. It was quite the challenge trying to think on the fly. My favorite part of the game was the HUGE amount of polish. Everything was animated with smooth easings, pleasant SFX abundant, and a sweet color palette.

Simple idea with neat twists and flawless execution. Great work on this!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing.
Yes indeed the game is super creative and I myself am impressed by it. BTW where can I check out your stream?

Hey! Here’s the timestamp’d link to my playthrough of You Got Played! It should be up for a week or so.

Developer

Thanks for sending it to me.
I will surely see your reaction and your feedbacks.

Submitted(+1)

Really fun idea. the game looks and sounds great. the only thing is that since I don't what rules can be added, it's kinda tricky to figure out what they are.

Developer

Thanks for playing.
True and that is what the theme is. In a normal card game you know the rules but here you have to figure out the rules.

Submitted(+1)

Really clever game with great visuals! Only bug I got was, after a round ends, the other ais played their cards despite the game being over. It caused the game to get softlocked after, but it aint a big deal! Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing.
Yes, I know. It's a minor bug. It's super creative game. How many rules you got?

Submitted(+1)

mhm! I got 3 total rules. Wonder how many there are,,

Developer(+1)

There are more than 9 which are scattered in a total of 5 levels.

Submitted(+1)

I see I see. Cool!!

Submitted(+2)

Interesting idea, however uno can take too long sometimes.

Developer

Thanks for playing.
It's not UNO for sure. How many rules you played?

Submitted(+1)

I played a bit more after my stream. Interesting game, hard to keep track of all the rules.

Developer

Yes, it is super hard. After a few levels even are play testers struggled for a while.
BTW where can I find the stream? I would like to see your reactions and feedback.

Submitted(+2)

It's an interesting take on the uno game! Nice work!

Developer

Thanks for playing.
It's not UNO but if you know UNO it is helpful.
How many rules you played?

Submitted(+1)

I only made it to two rules. It was really hard trying to deduct what rules were selected, but I enjoyed it :)

Developer(+1)

2 rules is great. There's a level with with 4+ rules. Super difficult.

Submitted(+2)

Uhh, stopped working 2 round in but I mean interesting :\ Rules should be at least slightly hinted at, seeing as there's not much time between new rule and your turn :| Fine concept tho

Developer

Thanks for playing
That's the idea. The theme is Roles Reversed so it does fit it. In a normal card game you know rules here you have to find them.

Submitted(+2)

I love the idea but im mostly just sitting here. Some more strategy and maybe a timer speed up just to add some more depth and interactivity. The visuals are fantastic!

Developer

Thanks for playing.
Yes we do understand that a skip turn button would have helped. How many rules you played?

Submitted

I think just one, I wasnt really sure how the rule mechanic worked

Developer

That's what the game is. Remember the theme is Role Reversed. In a normal card game you know rules here you have to find out.

Submitted(+2)

Really fun idea, and nicely put together!

Developer

Thanks for playing.
How many rules you played?

Submitted(+3)

Haha what a clever little game! I like it alot!

Developer

Thanks for playing.
Really hope you enjoyed the game. How many rules you played?

The concept and artstyle for this game was incredible! I also really liked how well presented the tutorial was for the game! I did experience a lot of bugs though, like:

  1. not getting played until someone emptied their hands, but still losing
  2. restarting or going to next level to be greeted with a glitched green screen with a few UI elements visible
  3. Getting played but I didn't follow any of the rules of that round
  4. Game still kept going after winning, and made me "win" multiple times, as other players emptied their hands

Design-wise, I think there are a lot of bullshit elements to the game, like how it's really hard to guess a new rule getting added, so winning is really random. I think the rule system has to be reviewed a bit. Also, is there any reason you can't shapeshift when it's not your turn? You don't have much time to pick the card you want to shift to, so it makes the game even harder.

Congrats on submitting!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for this detailed callout and feedback list! You bring up some great points. We really want more clairty around the rules system to help players get a better sense of reward for the thinking they have to do to win. It would also be nice to, as you and others point out, not be able to win without interaction/intervention. For the transforming limit to the player's turn, this was an intentional choice as a way to make the game harder. Maybe it still feels like there isn't much of a reason which prompts me to think we need to do a better job providing a justification for that choice (maybe a lore/story reason, or maybe by further clamping that rule to one transformation per round limit)! Thanks so much for playing!

Developer

Thanks for your review! We are aware of these bugs and are looking into fixing them. All of the mentioned bullshit elements are just a matter of time constraints. I don't really know if there's a reason why you can't shapeshift, probably to build up more tension.

Developer

Thanks for playing.
A few bug you mentioned are actually not bugs but a feature for this specific theme. There are levels so you might think you are playing the same game but the rules have changed and after a few rounds you'll get a new one.

Submitted(+3)

Really well done game. Must've been difficult to design a card game with changing rules. Congrats to the team!

Developer(+2)

The changing rules part was the easier part lol. The hardest part was to get a prototype working for playtesters.

Submitted(+1)

Really great idea, awesome art and especially the cover art ! I loved it

Developer(+2)

Thank you! Our artists worked hard on this one! :)
