I'm a really big fan of chess so by default this is my favorite version of this concept! Awesome job

How does your game fit the theme?
You play as the attacker in a tower defense game... But there is another plot twist ;)

Even though the idea is common, this is one of the most polished one I've played. It was a challenge until I realized that the queen just sustains themselves when beside each other. I don't really expect a balanced game in a game jam, but it was just funny so I had to point it out.
Hey ! Cool de voir d'autres propositions d'étudiant·es pour la jam ! L'idée du swap tower defense/attack est cool et l'exécution est propre, bien joué ! :)
Fun game and great menu art, but for some reason the game crashed on the first level so I had to restart.
Wow, well done using the complexity of chess pieces for towers attacks. A speed up button would help with some of the waiting on the levels. Overall I love the concept, good job.
Pretty nifty idea, I liked the idea of reversing your roles after the conquest and found the difficulty not too bad. I never ending up beating the 2nd level tho for whatever reason didn't really hook me, I think it may have needed a bit more polish? pretty good game tho!
That is the first in the tower defence genre where you defend aswell as you attack. Nice take: Maybe you can develop a mechanic where your actions as a defender before has influence on the way the game is setup when you have to attack it again :D. Just an idea.
Oh neat, haven’t seen many games this jam that manage to do the role reversal within the game itself! And reverse tower defense is always fun, and the theming was nice as well.
I’ve only played the first level, but I felt like playing as the chess pieces was way easier than playing as the cards. Maybe some rebalancing would help? Also, I’d love to be able to quick-restart a level when I can already tell it’s not going to work out.
Would probably not quite fit the jam theme anymore, but I’d be interested how well this works as an assymetrical two-player game, where one player tries to defend the tower and the other one attacks it. Obviously would need very careful balancing and it’s possible there are already games like this, but might be fun to try?
Overall, a pretty solid entry, though! Keep it up!
This was awesome! I love tower defense games, so being able to play as the wave-sender for once was a nice twist! And defending the castle after I took it over was cool! I only made it to the second level, but the fact that there is more than one level to begin with for a two day jam was really impressive! Especially since the levels have different phases! Amazing work!
Cool idea! i think that with a little more polish, it could be even better :)
The second part of gameplay was a very clever idea!
I can clearly see the hard work behind this game ! Very nice work to the team who made this entertaining game
I really like the concept and I liked the twist to need to defend as well. Only thing I can think of to add after the jam is like a tutorial to show how to play, as fumbling around for myself can sometimes be very frustrating. ^^
This was fun. I really liked the twist of having to defend the castle after having taken it. It did crash after I took the second castle, though.
The idea is cool and the work is impressive, with a special mention for this twist that could very well make a intense multiplayer experience.
The game crashed when I took the castle on level 3. Else it's just a cool game, I like the twist of playing against yourself, it's such an underrated mechanic. Well done, I love it!
Really well done on adapting the theme so well, in effect you've had to balance two games here. I can see that a lot of work has gone into this. What I liked especially is that you get to see and learn from the perspective of the enemy; when in attack mode you get witness which towers were effective and where are good positions to place them. Awesome work.
