It took me a minute to understand what i was supposed to do, but after that it was really fun!

Great work to the team that made this game, i recommend giving it a try if you haven't played it.

Thank you, glad you liked it! :)

I've too much thing to say:

-I was so frustrated that when i finished my run, there were no "Score" i can check to see much time i've survived !! And it prevented me of playing another game (i survived like 20 minutes) i was pretty proud as a Slay the spire fan.

-Since i play these type of games frequently it was not super difficult for me to understand quickly but i feel pain for poeple who never play them because, oh my goodness, it will be hard for them.

-I've seen that you have put some info below the game but i think a lot of poeple (me first) do not read all the text before playing the game so i spend a lot of time trying to figure out what stamina / endurance were (i was close tbh).  In our game we've made a little button were you can open a window with images that you can read for the tuto. I think that you always have to put the info in the game but if it's because of time i understand.

Overall, great experience and I hope you ll try my game because we share this difficulty learning phase and i would love to have your thought.

Developer(+1)

I think we didn't even have plans for a score, we just had too many other priorities to worry about that :P

We did have a restart button... I have a theory about where it went but, well, it's gone.

But yea, no chance we could've found the time to put another interface element containing a full  tutorial in, this was already a pretty brutal crunch from start to finish. There were a lot of more important, and much simpler, things and even those had to be cut in the end. Is what it is, 48 hours is just brutal!

Cool concept! was a little confused at first with so many things going on but overall a very fun game!

I enjoyed this game. The artwork is very good.

Developer

I'm really flattered that you liked the art ^^

I’m a simple man. I see a game that says “inspired by Slay the Spire”, I click it.

I tend to be somewhat critical of jam card games, but I think this one has a lot of potential and I’m very impressed by how much you managed to achieve! The different card types seem to work pretty well.

One thing I didn’t understand was if there was a UI for climber stats. Pretty tough to keep track of everything without that. Also, in the future, it would be nice if you could actually pick the cards that are added to your deck.

Really though, I’d love to see this being developed into a full game! Always craving for good deckbuilders to scratch my strategy itch :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks, glad you liked it! Both deckbuilding and UI for climber stats were originally planned but we didn't have time for it in the end.
Oh and if you're looking for deckbuilders: Check out "Cardening" on my profile. It's not combat themed but maybe it scratches the itch anyways :D

The mountain is a god!

Traps didn't work for me (or I used them wrong), the climbers still climbed. For 48 hours it was a great game with good presentation :) well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing :)
Climbers will roll a random number by which they move up and if they don't exactly land on the tile with the trap then it won't trigger.

There is a lot going on in this game! It has complex mechanics, great art, thematic music, even a fully voice acted opening cutscene. You can tell that not only was this made by a team but that everyone was working double time. Some of the cogs still need polish, the balance in particular needs help, but with so many parts that's not enough to bring down the experience .

Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much for your words, It's really heartwarming that even with bugs and the UI problems people have a good time playing the game ^^

First off, there was in fact, mountain climbing in this game. c:

Jokes aside, it was fun, but with more climbers on screen I kind of lost the overview of which climbers I had to worry about. It was also really hard to tell what was happening at the end of the climbers turn, since everything happens simultaneously.

Submitted(+3)

That was such a nice game, great card design and everything. Also amazing storytelling. I like that you've managed to do a lot for the story and the idea and not only do game to be fun. It was quite fun though, like Slay the Spire but with climbers. If you have time, check out our game The Soul of the Party :))

pretty cool twist on a defence game! didnt work out what are the climbers stats. but that added more intrigue to the experience

Developer(+2)

Unfortunately, a stat screen for enemies had to make way for a game breaking bug fix last minute :/

Submitted(+3)

Cool! I love Slay the Spire so this hit well with me. Really nice story an visual design too. Great work!

Nice game!
The idea actually seems very good, makes it a bit of a tower defence with deckbuilder elements. Though as of right now it is a bit confusing and unintuitive. It would be nice to know from where will the climbers come from, as right now for example it's hard to make good use of the first turn. Personally I am a bit annoyed that passing by does not trigger traps :d because it's really hard to judge where the climbers will end up, especially without knowing their stats, but obviously not everything can be done in 48h. Overall a great and engaging entry, congrats on making it! It's pretty impressive considering the time constraints.

Developer(+1)

Yea, the 48h are really rough. I dare claim that we aren't the only game that, 45 hours in, just started coming together, and then you have 3 hours to figure it all out. Even just a few more hours would've done everything you ask for but, alas, time has no mercy!

Submitted(+3)

I think its fun idea. I didnt expect full on voice acting in intro:D

Some of us (me) don't really know how to scope :')

Submitted(+3)

I love roguelike deckbuilders so I automatically love this game, but I think introducing more player agency by allowing them to pick the cards that get added to their deck is something really important that's missing, along with being able to see the climbers' stats. Still, really cool premise and fun gameplay!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, definitely good points!
Both deckbuilding and UI for climber stats are things we had originally planned.
Unfortunately we had to cut some corners because of the time.

Submitted(+3)

Yeah I guess that's just how game jams go, but being able to build what you have now in 48 hours is nothing short of impressive in itself. Would love to play a full version of this game if you ever decide to make it :)

Submitted(+3)

There were a few bugs and the drag interface could be improved, but I still had fun. Well done for successfully organising the team to make all this in 48 hours.

Developer(+1)

Features. It's spelled "features".

:x

Submitted(+3)

This way too balanced for 48 hours lol, Great work! I could honestly see this as a full game

Submitted(+3)

Pretty cool card game. No idea how you did this in 48 hours, but definitly impressive.

Developer(+1)

The secret is that only one of our programmers slept!

Submitted(+1)

Hahahaha still impressive

Submitted(+3)

Oh, now I feel that I miss hearthstone :D

The idea is so interesting! Haven't seen anything like that before. My climbers did their best to die, though I still quite enjoyed the gameplay: lots of things become clear via playing.

Like it!

Developer

I'm glad you get the Hearthstone vibes, in my opinion one of the best designed card games :)
Thank you for your kind words ^^

Submitted(+3)

very good idea, a bit unintuitive, but a good game

Developer

A lot of people have pointed out problems with the UI which makes the game more unintuitive and frustrating, and they are completely right. I have to say it's mostly my fault, it is my fist jam and I don't know how to implement everything so I ended up letting the integration work for the programmers, so they were a bit overloaded because of my lack of experience.
Anyway I hope you had fun with the game which is what matters the most to us ^^
