Amazing art, nice music and gameplay as simple as effective. I don't know what to say it's perfect ! Nice job! Bravo :)

Aww, thank you! That's kind of you to say :)

Nice frogs! They are soo cute! I didn't expect to be juggling for dear life haha

Developer

Thanks haha, glad you found the frogs cute! I was surprised by how many frog games were submitted; will be checking yours out soon :)

Developer

We're hoping to get a good score on the "Frog" criteria, despite them not being very cooperative here. ^^ Thank you for your comment!

OMG this is so perfect. Not only the art style is cute and the mechanics are so simple but so genius, I love the whole game was built based on the song and how synasthesic it is. One of my favorite games so far (and I would be a terrible father frog lol)

Developer(+1)

HAHA thank you for the kind words!! I've probably dropped dozens of frogs at this point, so you're in good company :)

Developer(+1)

In a way, this is kinda a song disguised as a game! ^^ I'm really happy that you enjoyed the auditive experience. Thank you for your comment!

This is a really nice game: great art style, a nice take on the theme, and pretty fun.  It's kind of like breakout/pong, but if you had multiple paddles and the music was also generated on the fly (no pun intended).

This is probably a symptom of being a laptop gamer, but one thing I'd like to see are keyboard controls: something like left/right to move the lilypads and up/down to select between them might work.

Developer

Thanks so much for the kind words! And yeah, I was trying to play this on my laptop's touchpad too and it was much more of a struggle than using an external mouse — hoping most people playing have the option of using the latter!

Developer

I didn't have breakout in mind, but it's true that it turned out to share a lot of similarities!

Keyboard controls would present an interesting kind of challenge yes. But it would have been tough to make it as intuitive and reactive as a mouse cursor.

Thank you for your feedback!

My god, aside of the beautifully made art and the great music, this is all around such an amazing game. I can also see it with a two player version where someone controls the frog and another one controls the lillypad, amazing game!! Good job!!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks so much for the warm feedback!! That two-player version is an interesting idea... appreciate you sharing your thoughts :)

Developer(+1)

This could be fun in multi-player indeed! I'm glad that you enjoyed the game. Thank you for your feedback!

Developer

Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed it.

very cute! never seen generative music in a game jam before but its really cool haha. props!

Developer(+1)

Hehe, I always put some generative music in my games, it has its effect in jams. :p Happy that you liked it!

Submitted(+1)

It's so purely made and polished, great job!

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad we had enough time to make the game look and sound almost exactly like we wanted.

Submitted(+1)

That was so much fun to play!!

I can't even comprehend how you managed to get the music to feel so good and work well with so many elements generating different music.

Amazing job!

* All frogs were pet before the making of this rating ^^

Developer(+1)

Without getting into the details, I used two plugins for the generative music:

  • Godot Meta Player (not affiliated with the other Meta), a tool for dynamic music, that I use to sync all the layers and also to bind events to the beat
  • Simple Sampler, a plugin of my own, that allows to create musical instruments from samples.

There's a bit of music theory that I'll skip, but from there the basic idea is that I have a list of notes ("G4", "A4", etc), and when an event happens I pick one of them and play it with the desired instrument. Then there's some tweaks to avoid playing the same note twice consecutively, or giving random notes more or less chance to be played depending on the current bar.

I'm happy that you enjoyed the game. Thank you for your comment!

simple game, but really well made and that's something that's so beautiful about it.  The sound design is really fun and the visual style is incredible.

Developer(+1)

Glad that you enjoyed the aesthetic! Thank you very much for your comment.

Submitted(+1)

Simply beautiful. And they way the frogs hoping, catching the flies, and moving the lily pads worded with the music was inspired

Developer

Thank you! I love putting adaptive music in games, it creates such satisfying feedback.

Submitted(+1)

The art is so nice and textured!! Really smooth and relaxing to play too :)

Developer(+1)

I'm happy that you had a good time! Thank you for your comment

The very definition of a cozy game. I love the felt-like look to all of the art. The game was short but I had a good time playing. Awesome work!

Developer

Thanks so much for the kind words! I'm a huge nerd for analog warmth in games, so I'm super glad you noticed the felt-like look. It comes from edited scans of flecked vintage paper and risograph prints, masked over every asset — a bit tedious to export, but a fun final look :)

Submitted(+1)

wait that is awesome and totally worth it!!

Developer

Thanks!! :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'm very happy to have teamed up with Jaylus. The art she provided for the game is fantastic!

Submitted(+1)

Wonderful and cute game! That was perfect I have no criticisms :)

Developer

Aww, thank you, that's kind of you to say! :)

Developer

Well, thank you very much for such a nice feedback!

Submitted(+1)

This game is beautiful, and deceptively challenging once you have to keep track of multiple frogs. The star for me was the adaptive music - I love how everything in the game makes music, and that you get to control it. I found myself trying not just to keep the frogs afloat, but also to make to most pleasing melodies. Great work!

Developer

Thank you very much! Adaptive music was one of the core intention of the design. I believe there's a form of satisfaction in the act of making music, I'm really happy that the game was able to procure it.

THIS IS SUCH A GREAT GAME! The gameplay is fun, the art is gorgeous, and the musical lillypads are such a nice touch! I'll be really surprised if you don't get featured at the end! Also side note, couldn't have asked for a better ending. Fantastic work!

Developer

Aww, thanks so much for the warm feedback; I'm glad you liked the game! As fate would have it, I already had your gorgeous-looking game on my to-play list — will try it out soon >:]

Developer

I'm so satisfied we had the time to include that ending! Reversing the roles one more time, it's silly, but efficient.

Thank you very much for your kind words! I don't know if we'll get featured, but at least I feel optimistic on our "Presentation" score. :)

Great art, great music, great gameplay, and cute frogs <3 what more could I want!! Also liked the added difficulty with more than 1 frog in the mix, a terrific job all around!

Developer

Thank you so much!! Glad you enjoyed :)

Developer

Thank you very much! I'm also happy with the choice of adding more frog, it's feel like a natural progression of difficulty (even though it is an exponential one).
