Fun idea and a solid prototype, love the artwork. The physics are a bit wonky when moving objects around, and as you pointed out yourself the balance is a bit off haha, but, this is a really great entry into the jam!
I'm not sure if I encountered lots of bugs or if I didn't understand how to play. I played the tutorial and then tried the real game, but the treasure chests never came and I was broke by the first time the king came. I really like the visuals and music, and I like the idea overall, so I wish I was able to play it better.
If you want to give the actual game another shot, press f12 and spawn in an extra gold coin (f11 and f10 spawn in silver and copper). I didn't have time to playtest so its a bit unbalanced, but the treasure chest comes in after the king visits every week, so its a game of managing your resources to try and make as much profit as you can without risking running out before the king arrive.
In general one extra gold seems to be enough to get the ball rolling
Ooh juicy cheat codes, love it. Gonna give it another try
Good game, nice tutorial.
This game has so much potential to become a full game. The art is impressive, and the mechanisms are incredibly unique. There seem to be some issues with the number displayed on the money bags. Also, there appear to be some occasional problems with item collisions. Despite these minor issues, the game is still very good overall.
This is a great prototype! I really enjoyed the core gameplay loop but I had difficulty following the state of the game (how many coins I had, when I should ring the bell, etc.).
I would definitely come back to this in future if you continued working on it, good job!
Super cool idea!
Looks very good, and plays smoothly.
Good implementation of the theme, overall very nicely done!
Really great art style! I love the use of a 'physical UI'. The way you get your payout is also really fun and satisfying. Definitely a good prototype you can build further on.
There does appear to be a problem with the coin bag, at least for me. In the screen shots i can see there should be a coin counter on the bags. But i could only see some unreadable white text. Luckily it's possible to just physically count my coins by taking them out the bag, which is a fun workaround.
I misspelt something by 2 letters, but there just wasn't enough time to re upload the project to get the counters x)
I feel you. My victory screen doesn't work because i forgot to couple a unity event
I found the waxing and stamping mechanic satisfying, and the character drawings were charming. Cool!
Really nice game, I love the artstyle and music. Just a small bug I encountered was that on some days the adventurers didnt come, but that might be intentional
The art style is very good. I love your take on the reversed role!
I enjoyed this game and really like the art style! This is like a medieval "Papers, please", but you're giving out quests. I hope you continue to flesh the game out further and make it into a full game because it's pretty special. I did get stuck in one playthrough where I didn't have enough for taxes, I couldn't do anything and it was unclear if I was in a game over state.
unfortunately I broke the game over state by missing 2 letters in a script x)
You are able to press f10, f11, and f12 to spawn in money if you'd like to keep going though!
Hah! It happens to all of us. Thanks for the tip!
Love the art style!
I want this to be a full game. I struggled a bit knowing when to ring the bell and which quests I should give which adventurers (though it's not clear if it mattered), but I really liked the feel of managing a guild. Other games in the jam have done similar versions of this but they didn't let me stamp the quest : P
The type of quest is *supposed* to matter, but unfortunately I had to cut that out in favor of a more polished experience. Each quest has a multiplier based on 5 hidden stats that the heroes have, each one increasing the reward / decreasing the heroes cut of the reward based on it
Ah I see. I thought the hero would just get the full reward so i was confused when they continually returned asking for only small amounts.
The idea is that the hero gets a cut from the reward (not playtested so its a random between 30-60%) and the rest is a guild fee which you receive when you get reimbursed from the quest givers at the end of each week!
Great sound design a better how to play would be nice as I did not know I had to pick up the candle to stamp the quests. I was looking for a pitcher or couldrun of wax to pour from.
That's a very good point! realistically I had wanted to have the players grab candles from under the desk as they burnt out which would have maybe made it more clear, but a proper tool would probably have worked since that didnt make it in
Great art and nice mechanics! Nice job!
Nice, unique, polished game. Good Job <3
Really great art and chill ambience!
We loved the freedom you give the player!
Absolutely love the art, great job!
You know, you have fantastic art skills. Really impressive. Great job on this game! Charming!
