How does your game fit the theme?
This game aligns with the "Built to Scale" theme by allowing players to adjust the camera's scale to examine image details and solve puzzles. As the scale increases, it's not just the image that enlarges; the level of detail also changes accordingly. This mechanic adds an engaging layer of puzzle-solving to the gameplay.

I peeped and I liked it.

Developer

Thank you :)

Great concept. I think the time going by when you're fully zoomed out was a little confusing, I often accidentally did it before I was ready to move on, I still wanted to have a look. Perhaps a seperate button to make time go forward would be better for this. Overall though, it was a great entry :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Controlling time is a topic many people have given feedback on, and it's something I'm really thinking about. Using a button might feel a bit artificial, but it would certainly be more intuitive!

clever investigative puzzle with a great art style and an interface nicely integrated into the narrative. nice!

Developer

Thanks :D

Amazing game, loved the concept and the mechanics. It was really fun to track down the suspects. The art style is also superb, very charming. Would be nice to see this built out as a full game!

Developer

Thank you! :) I'm also leaning towards expanding the game into something bigger.

That's an interesting take on the theme, definitely a unique approach in the landscape. Love the minimalistic monochrome artstyle too

Developer

Thank you! I'm thinking about developing the game further

Love the Art style, I feel like i was in a comic book <3 The mechanic of zoom in and out for finding clues works well with the game.

This was one of our idea for the game jam but we scrapped it because we didn't know how to incorporate gamelpay with zooming into the environment that's the reason why I was so amazed with how you pulled it off! Congrats!!!

Developer

I actually thought of this idea a long time ago too, but I never imagined it would turn into a detective game. I was more focused on coming up with something simple using basic logic, and then the idea just popped out!

Great game ! I really like the concept and the mecanics, the art looks good too. Keep up the good work :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind words! :)

I quite like the idea! I found the controls to be a little finicky, unfortunately, and I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of randomizing which windows are open when you zoom out completely, though I'm not sure how to better solve it, maybe just a "wait" button? The mysteries themselves were nicely designed and fun to solve. Art style is also pretty neat. All in all, pretty fun little game, might be interesting to see if this can be extended.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! You pointed out exactly the issues I've been thinking about. I didn’t want all the windows to be open at the same time, but I lacked the ideas to create a logic for time progression or selective window opening. (That's why I set it so that about 80% of the windows open when refreshed.) Lately, I've been wondering how it would be if the protagonist had the ability to control time, but that might lean too much into fantasy. After the jam, if I decide to expand on the idea, I'll definitely work on improving the camera controls and the window mechanics! :)

Super clever idea ! The minimalist style is great on the different character but perhaps more texture on the blank walls would have helped to navigate the camera better in the most zoomed setting. Loved it !

Thank you! I just played the game you both made and became a fan!

Such a unique take on the theme, really enjoyed the simple yet satisfying mechanic of the zoom.

Great one!

Thank you :D

really nice game ! I enjoyed solving the case :D

image.png zooming this was scary :_

Developer(+1)

I really wanted to include at least one character who looks like they’re staring at you through the window! Haha. Unfortunately, I couldn’t fit in a storyline, but thank you so much for enjoying the game.

Nice job, good sketch style. Wish there were some fitting noir music. But Rear Window definitely has potential as a video game, and I could see this game with several additions that would make it very engaging. As is, it is a bit confusing to get around and somewhat annoying to have to zoom in and out to look at the person you want. It'd be nice to have a time change button or something so you can stay in the same spot and have the window open.

Developer

You're right; the controls could have used a bit more refinement. As a temporary fix, I recommend using the Q and E keys to zoom in and out. If I develop it further, I'm considering adding a time element as well! Thank you :)

Games like this are why I like lurking in game jams submissions. The art, the vibe, the idea, all great.

You could improve on the controls. When I try to scroll through my mails, it zooms / unzoom the view behind.

And I was wondering why I was getting mail so often.

Developer

Such a wonderful compliment, it really made my day :) It’s more convenient to click and drag for the letters. The part where it interacts with the scroll was my mistake. I’m sorry about that. The idea of having emails arrive with a time delay was meant to spread out the clues rather than giving them all at once, but it didn’t seem to add much to this game. If the game were larger in scope, I think incorporating a time element could make it more engaging.

Submitted(+1)

"spread out the clues rather than giving them all at once" => ok I agree, but then I would suggest increasing time delay (for me it was too fast), and re-working the ui / ux of receiving / browsing mail.

Nice take en on the theme and genre. Love the minimalist art style ! well done

Developer

Thank you so much! :)

Love the art style ! Reminds me a lot of "Hidden Folks".

But the controls... I felt the camera was moving way too fast for me, and I was always overshooting windows, and getting lost in the scene. So I didn't get far.

Well done though !

Developer

Sorry about the camera speed. It was much slower during development, but after uploading it to the browser, it turned out to be faster than I expected. I’ll make sure to update it after the jam period ends. Thank you for playing!

Super fun deduction game! I love it! The take on the theme is very creative. Especially love the art direction of this game. Minimalist color palette matched the art style so much. Interesting mechanic with just 48 hours on the clock.

Needs more level, I am so obsessed. Great job on the game! :)

Developer

Thank you so much! I'll definitely think about it after the jam ends! My friends also found it really fun, so I'm feeling pretty positive about it.
