one of those "build the level for the character to climb" games, but where the character has per-level pre-programmed movement... brilliant! i can't believe i haven't seen this before. results in much more involved levelmaking puzzles, too.

(sorry I didn't play this in time to rate it!)

Developer

No problem at all, thank you for playing anyways! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

i loved the art and the gameplay is pretty nice. Overall a fun game

Fantastic game, love the sound effects and sprite work, very well done! I just wished the level select worked so I can see what's passed the one I got stuck on (the one with the green block that moves you 5 right, and another that moves you 1 right, how many levels are after that?)

Developer

Thank you for playing! The level select only unlocks after you have beaten all the levels, there are 2 more after the one you were stuck on.

Always nice to see an adorable main character, and in a neat puzzle game too!

Developer

Thanks for playing :)

Really fun puzzle game.

The introduction of new mechanics and ramping up of difficulty feels very natural.

Love having features like the speed adjustment for when executing a run.

Thanks for playing :)

Figuring out the puzzle is pretty satisfying. Was not sure how scale comes into play. Maybe the background change would have been a good indicator you are going up the mountain. Speed controls don’t save between levels though.

Developer

I was going to make the background pan up with parallax but didn't have it working nicely in time unfortunately. I considered the game fitting the theme because you are "building" the levels for the robot "to scale". And the speed control thing others have mentioned, I need to add that in a post-jam update. Thank you for playing!

Oh yeah this is my jam. I love this game so much. Setting up the world to work around the puzzle fantastic game!

Developer

Wow, thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

Very cute and engaging puzzle idea!

It would be nice to be able to preview the robot's movement from  a certain tile or piece. For a few of the puzzles, having to wait for the entire process to play out could get tedious even with the speed modifier, as I wanted to get past the parts I already knew were successful, but needed to slow it back down to see if the new pieces I'd placed would work. I'd need to think a bit about how to balance that idea to not completely negate the idea of it auto-playing.

Regardless, that is a very minor criticism and was only relevant on a few of the puzzles. The character design is very cute and I liked the pixel art mountain landscape. Well done!

Developer(+1)

I considered showing the robot's path, however I think that would make it a bit too easy - and rob the game of the fun of tracing the path across the levels yourself using the mouse. This remind me of the GMTK balatro video, how previewing the outcome can sometimes spoil the fun of a puzzle.

I also quite enjoy the "set up and then watch it go" structure to the game, rather than the idea of pressing a button to make the robot take its next move. Perhaps I could give the speed slider a greater maximum for this purpose, or something like that. This is a tricky problem to design around, as you mentioned.

Anyway thanks for the in-depth feedback, I do appreciate it!

Agree, and definitely see the challenge there. It's one of those things that would probably get figured out in playtesting on a longer dev cycle.  Thanks for the response!

Very interesting puzzle idea, i love the auto playing idea. Everything was clear from the blocks you can place to the direction and behaviour of the character. I really enjoyed it !! I think you could try to make a mobile game with that idea !

Thank you for playing, glad you enjoyed :)

Reminded me of some exercises i had to make in my programming school, it's good memories !

I thought this was really neat! I really like the combo of puzzle + platformer

Very very good game! I'm not into puzzles, but I liked this one. The concept is very simple at it's core, but it creates all kind of possibilites. Great puzzle design, easy to understand mechanics. I'm glad there's a speed slider, no time limits and number of tries for each level. Wonderful game!

eally impressive how someone can achieve this level of design and mechanics in just a few days.

The mechanic of using blocks, rather than just jumping around, adds an extra layer of puzzle-solving that fits perfectly with the overall game concept.

Well done!

Thank you! I'm glad you liked the game!

Really cute game! loved the art style and the music/sound design set a really nice vibe. Great work!

I love these puzzles where you have to plan ahead. The usage of the slider was also so good to make the game fun instead of boring, when you knew the solution you did was right. I'm really glad I found your game. Was a best playing it. Would be even better if it had a nice background music (I tried to press m, but to no avail )

Developer

The music is there but it's very quiet, as I didn't have time to make a music slider and I didn't want it to overpower the sound effects. Sorry about that, but thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it so much!

This game felt very complete. The tutorial was good and everything played really smooth. That speed slider was a nice touch!

Developer

Thanks for playing :)

Well made! Placing blocks is really intuitive, and the option to speed up the game is a nice addition.

Thanks for playing :)

Really nice game! I like how you turned "scaling a moutain" into a puzzle game.

Also, it's a bit weird that you need a loading screen no?

Developer (1 edit)

It doesn't take too long to load each level, but for a second or two it does freeze the game. So we put a loading screen in there to make the game feel more responsive and less laggy. Thanks for playing!

Alright thanks for the answer!

It always shows 100% so I was wondering why it was there.

The snowy mountains remind me of celeste.

The game concept is a masterpiece. The mechanics are really cool.

Be sure to check mine:(

Developer

Thank you for playing, I will check out your game when I get around to it :)
