Realy Build to Scale)))

Very cozy aesthetic and it looks awesome! Even though you used pre-existing assets, you were able to fit them well together and make a nice colony sim out of it!

My only real critique is that it feels weird having wells have a limited water supply. I imagine you probably would have added a more permanent water source given enough time, but it does still feel a bit strange to me.

The gameplay is fun and works well, and y'all did a great job!

Developer

We were indeed going to have better options for water supply after progressing further with the game, but like you have correctly guessed, we did run out of time. Also we were meant to have selling/destroying buildings added which would have felt better than the current state at which the wells run out of water and are but only a waste of space. It would have also made more sense if we were to go with limited resources for everything, including trees and rocks rather than respawning, which was a plan, but would not work for the game jam.

Amazing style and super clean! I think it could use a little more explanation of where to place certain buildings, since I messed up placement and got locked out my first few attempts.

very clean and polished, and nice music! loved the intro animation!

It's a cute little game, it looks cool and it's fun to watch these lil' guys do all the work !

Good job on this game !

Overall the game is pretty solid and does it’s thing well reminding me a bit of islanders, but there are some little quirks and room for improvement, i.e. the beginning tends to be really slow with some not game-braking UI bugs here and there. Still a solid 4/5 from me - good job. 👏

The game can be slow in the beginning but it starts picking up once you put in a couple minutes and build the various structures. I think it would be really cool if I can have this running on my desktop background like those old aquarium screensavers that showing the town in its current state.
Its the most fitting genre when it comes to the theme of scale, and scale it does indeed!

Really relaxing game, I liked it. My only nitpick would be using the mouse wheel to scroll, that part was a bit janky. Besides that, the game felt really polished, great job there!

I like the graphics, the music, the UI on top of all the units and the building to indicate their state and what they need. Sadly, it is really easy to lose because spend everything you need too quickly. I would strongly recommend changing the order of the units that you can build and making sure that the lumberjack is one of the first thing you can build follow food and then stone.

I love this, it's super relaxing!

I only have two nitpicks though. Scrolling the map with the mouse wheel, on a web build, is a really unfortunate choice. And the mine & lumber sounds are overpowering.

Other than that, great game, well executed!

Lovely art, it's a really nice and cozy game.

pretty cool game!

Fun little builder! I think the rate of progression was a bit slow, but other than that you nailed the meat and potatoes imo. Loved the low poly style you went with it!

Cool art!:) Game needs more tooltips and there needs to be higher pacing. But the controls, placements of objects and overall 'feel' of the game was perfect, I think that's where this game really shined. This could turn into a superfun citybuilder or RTS game if the pacing would be higher. Maybe even with a lil bit of physics, it could be rly fun and innovative.

It's look so well. Like ready to sell game. I like tycoon, but  your game don't enough challenge. I think will be better, if you add stats to manage. For example: hungry level.
Anyway, great jub.

Very polished game! It was so relaxing to play and satisfying!

It is shockingly impressive to make a citybuilder in 4 days! and it plays really well, it's a lovely relaxing time!

Thank you! Shout out to Kenney & Kaylousberg as their visual assets really helped in development and allowed focus on mechanics.

This was really well done! I really like the chill vibes of the game with the art and sound design. I think the game is surprisingly good at being able to be played despite not having tutorials, which I feel like is a hard thing to achieve for the city builder genre. The little text bubbles on top of the people and buildings do really tell a lot. My one complaint with that approach is that it is pretty easy to get softlocked if you don't understand how everything works fast enough and almost all your villagers die. (My villagers may or may not have starved to death the first time before I figured out that crops need water, RIP) The ability to sell off things to restart would be nice, but it's a game jam game and I'm sure you ran out of time. Honestly what's here is already really impressive for the time constraint. Overall, good job! Really neat and cute city builder.

Developer

Thank you for the in-depth feedback, you're 100% right about having the ability to sell buildings, we planned to have the ability to buy units for buildings and sell buildings but yea we just didn't have enough time...  Again thanks for checking out!

This game looks great and from first impressions, I loved how it played and the genre of the game. Here are some of my critiques of the game.

  • I wish there were keyboard controls for controlling the camera. The mouse controls were fine and I didn't have any problems with them, so I guess this is more of a preference for controls
  • More detailed info somewhere about what the buildings do and what they require
  • I soft-locked myself when I placed down the mine. I thought I was supposed to place it by the big rock and not near the smaller ones
  • The very beginning felt a bit slow when I placed down the house and just waited for more resources to generate
  • A clear goal would be nice even if it's something like getting to this amount of money

Despite that, this was still a great and fun game to play. Good job you two!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, absolutely agree with you and we'll be fixing these and releasing a new build once the jam ends.

I admire your low poly designs and the functioning of the game, I wish you continued success and congratulations.
