I really enjoyed your game, the modules were great idea! I like that the shooting is not only in the direction of flying. Good job!

Wow, I am surprised at how fun your game was to play! I am usually not the biggest fan of this genre and I am sure you already know of some rough edges in your game (like no sound or visual indicator when you get hit) but the modals attaching to your ship in whatever orientation they were when you touched them is so FUN and a really creative idea!

I can imagine getting a super goofy looking ship at the end of a run (a post game image of your ship is also something I would be interested in seeing).

Other than some of the obvious things to work on, a small tip I would give specifically to game jams is to tone down the difficulty. Unless a "core" mechanic of the game is to be difficult, people trying out a game jam game will probably not put in the time to "get good" and see everything the game has to offer.

Overall I had a great time trying out your game and I am impressed with what your team made in 96 hours.

Love the game, feels like a familiar shoot em up game already and was easy to play on the get go. One thing I would suggest, is to only show the controls screen in the first launch of the game, and not every time you restart. Closing the controls screen each time you restart is not quite user friendly.

The rest is solid, Overall a very good executed shoot em up game. Good Job.

Thank you for playing!

Impressive! It blends familiar and unique concepts in a satisfying way. Feels good to get larger and cut through ever-evolving swathes of enemies. I just wish there was more feedback, i.e. sound and visual effects when you hit enemies, get hit by enemies or projectiles, collide, etc.

There's also a bit of RNG to this game. In my first attempt, I only got 1 module in the first minute, while in the second, I got 6 in 40 seconds. Maybe you could add a hidden pity system to ensure the player doesn't go too long without any modules, since it tends to snowball if you lack the modules to kill enemies and get more.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! There actually is a hidden pity system, though I am not sure it's tuned properly, sadly. As for visual and audio feedback, it was intended and we did work on some gunshot sounds, but in the end we didn't have the time to fit them in as we had to prioritise making the game functional in the first place.

nice little shoot'em up, I didn't quite follow how the leveling worked though

It’s always great that there are people who still appreciate shoot 'em ups. I felt like it was Vampire Survivors but in space

It was fun.

Nice one!

Theme implementation on point and some solid strategy available here. Well done :)

Thank you for playing! :D

Love the modularity aspect. I would give this a try if the difficulty curve was fixed.

Developer

Thank you for giving it a try! The difficulty curve is a fickle thing, and there was sadly not enough time to conduct proper playtesting.

Pretty neat way to incorporate the theme, Built to Scale. The ship becoming more unwieldy as you gained firepower was a fun way to add tension and had me thinking quickly how to build my ship most effectively.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! It was a very deliberate decision on our part, though we did have to add additional torque with extra thruster blocks because otherwise the ship started becoming less controllable than a brick after a point.

Cool vampire survivor clone, needs some sound effects, the blue ball looked like an item then it destroyed me but pretty fun

Cool game, it was interesting to play.

The concept of being able to choose where to attach new parts, like guns, is really clever and adds a great layer of strategy to the gameplay. I agree that it can be a bit tricky to collect parts when they're inside swarms, which can make things feel more chaotic than necessary. Adding a visible HP bar for the enemy ships would be a fantastic improvement, giving players more feedback during battles. Overall, it's a fun and engaging game with a lot of potential. Thanks for creating it and sharing it with us!

nice game. i think its too hard to collect parts sometimes because they are inside of swarms

It's very cool, especially since we can choose where to attach the new guns, but I guess it would have been even better if the HP of the other spaceship was visible while dealing damage. It's a very nice concept and matches the theme of the jam perfectly.

Developer(+1)

Oh! That is actually a really good idea and I don't know how we didn't think of it. That would certainly be a good addition, thank you!

Really fun game. I love how you have to me strategic about the way you fly into pickups to make sure they're attached in a useful way. Being able to pause to see what things do is also a really nice touch.

Thanks for playing, love to hear you enjoyed it : D
