How does your game fit the theme?
You are in a car moving objects around on a small scale to make an image on a larger scale. Akin to the "Big Art Attack" on the inspirational childhood show, Art Attack, but even bigger! The game also tests your map reading skills, which is all about figuring out scales!

I am just a little confused on how to play and how to make it work, I did read the tutorial too.  I think there should be a bit more overlay with the art that needs to be made and the map it's self.  I think I didn't read the instructions properly, and It would help if you knew what colors the objects were before you pick them up.  I think it would be cool if there were objects that you could drag along the ground and make a trial.  It could make things a little easier and make the game feel more expressive.

I played this on today's livestream!!

Ah yeah, we didn't budget enough time to properly tutorialize everything. Thanks very much for the feedback and for trying it out!

I love your idea, I can immediately relate it to Art Attack. That said, I would've liked it to be a bit easier to play so I could focus a bit more on the creative / artistic aspect of the game.

Really nice take on the theme. I got lost a couple of times, but I suppose that isn't new feedback. Heh.

Love Art Attack! A bit hard to get the bearing at times, great concept!

The concept of this game is very unique and you made quite the execution too!

It's a bit tricky adjusting to the controls at first, maybe a "tutorial map" that guides you step by step in the various systems would be a great addition to make it more simple to comprehend,  but once you get the hang of it it's truly an amazing idea! Good job ^^

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, and yeah! A tutorial will definitely be in the post-jam version!

It's quite hard when you have to deal with all the different systems (random colors on objects, the car controls and steering), i think a simpler version might work a bit better. but i LOVE the idea of this so much and would love to see it developed further, it's a really unique and fun concept

Developer

Thanks very much for playing it!
Fun little fact: The random colors on objects wasn't in the original design of the game. But near the end, we realized that there wasn't a good way of separating "objects you interacted with" vs "objects you hadn't interacted with", and the black-and-white filter was just a last minute thing we added to help tell the difference :D

Very unique game. I love the game concept and it was fun trying to recreating the drawing using the tools aviable.

The control are ok, a bit confusing at first, but once I get used to it I could move object around easily.  I still find navigating the map tedious, in my opinion you can either reduce the map size and the empty space between zones, or make the car move faster, maybe with some sort of turbo mechanic.

Overall you did an amazing entry! Good job! ^-^

This is a really great take on the prompt! You truly are building to a scale, haha.  I did find the execution to be a bit wonky, however; the camera rotating with the car + being so zoomed in makes it hard to tell where I'm going or what's around me. I also couldn't figure out how to latch onto only one object nearby so I wouldn't be dragging objects of different colors around. Other people have suggested a simple tutorial area to learn the mechanics, and I'd agree with them. Overall, it's a great theme, I like the art/music, and I'd love to play a more polished version!

this was cute, but i really struggled to understand how to play. driving the car was fun and i liked bumping into objects and grabbing them! i had no idea how my drawing transferred into the actual drawing, though. with some polish on how to play id love to give this another go!

The most enjoyable experience was driving a car and drawing something with the tire tracks. Thanks for the interesting experience!

I really enjoyed it!

It was very fun to drive and explore the map. Very good work!
I think a tutorial or more clear rules can help understand the concept of the game.

Very creative idea! I had a lot of fun driving around and exploring the map. A tutorial on a smaller scale could be very useful since the big map is quite overwhelming.

I couldn't really get it to work, due to the fact that you can't select single objects and see the colors before the selecting. However, the music and sounds fit well, and the driving was really fun, which I didn't expect. I also liked the art a lot. Good luck!

One of the most interesting takes on the theme, i think it was the most unique game i played tonight, i like the maps and the guiding mechanics also the many different objects, congrats on finishing the gamejam!

Thanks for playing!!

Great game. The level felt very really big, and it had a sense of exploration to it. I kind of wish I could see the percentage during the level to get a better idea of whether my objects would count. It was fun though.

Submitted(+1)

Cool idea! I had a hard time wrapping my brain around it, but it has a lot of promise. There was a lot of info in the tutorial - maybe there could have been some early levels that introduce one or two mechanics at a time?

Developer(+1)

Ah good idea. Yeah maybe a quick tiny map before you got to see the full huge map. Next time!

Submitted

Ooh yeah, a tiny map level to start with would have definitely helped. Til next time!

So creative! You matched the theme very well. A small car can make a really big drawing, thus "built to scale". I had so much  fun drawing! I drew 1 big tree ;)

Submitted(+1)

What a creative idea! That is really a sweet prototype for a full on mapping game where you could try to map the coastline and stuff. The camera locking to the car did make me feel sick, it was just too jarring of a rotation as you turned. maybe having the camera stay the same direction and you could turn it with Q and E or something like that.

Developer(+1)

Yup, definitely would have worked on that if we had the time. Literally just paired the camera to the player haha. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

"if we had time" is the bane of any jam. Next game I expect to see a nicer camera though! : )

Submitted(+1)

Fun game with nice art. It needs a little tutorial at the start to explain what I'm supposed to do. But I had fun driving around lol!

Developer

Hope the tutorial wasn't confusing. It's at the start of the game and the option menu after pressing "Esc" :D
