How does your game fit the theme?
I interprted it in this way, maybe a bit odd :), The obstacles get larger over time and this scale behavior simulates the 3D perspective that I implemented from scratch

I made the entire code and all images except the background. The sound effects come from freesound.org

I liked playing this, you can't go wrong with this type of arcade gameplay. If I'm being honest though. I will say I don't but it as a proper theme interpretation. I know your other projects and congratualations on implementing the perspective into this one, but I just don't think it's enaough to count it as a main theme

Developer

Thank you for playing. Everyone has their opinion on the theme interpretation, you may be right but everyone sees it different. It's fine, maybe I could fine a better way to interpret the theme but this is what I came out with, I will try to improve next year.

A neat "endless runner" like game! It's really impressive to code without an engine, so massive props to you on that! I would like to have a way to differentiate between slow-mo and shield powerups, mainly because I don't like slow-mo, I feel like the game is most fun when it's fast.

Thanks for playing. Makes sense, I will change that in the post-jam update.

Thanks for submitting this to the stream! It's super impressive that you implemented this from scratch in Java. The gameplay is pretty fun once you get the hand of it and the art is really cool.

Good job!

A nice endless runner in space! It was a little difficult and could have used some juice and maybe another mechanic or two mixed in there. Overall, good submission for the jam, though!

Thanks for playing, I was planning about adding maybe a shooting option but unfortunately I ran out of time

A simple but fun game! It took me a while to realise that the power ups were giving me a shield because I was looking at the centre of the screen to avoid obstacles instead of looking at my ship. It gets so fast at higher scores! (not a bad thing btw, it definitely helps with engagement). My highscore was 69 (nice). The art is really nice too. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing :) Wow 69, nice

Fun idea! The gameplay is not too easy to make it bland but not to hard to make it annoying, and the overall 3D effect is very convincing. My only suggestion is whenever the objects get close to you, instead of popping them out, you can have the objects start moving away from the centre, so that the objects move to the edge of the screen.

Oh and did I mention this game is super addicting? So fun, got a high score of 128 :D

Developer

Thanks for playing. Yeah that small addition seems cool, didn't think about that.

And, what 128?? My highscore is 75, wow seems like you enjoyed it, it is also quite difficult to score that high :)

Quite an interesting idea, but the realization is a bit of a letdown, but for 48 hours quite not bad!

This was really impressive considering you made it in java. Had a lot of fun playing it :) Good job!

Submitted(+1)

I don't know how you could make that in java haha

The art is alright
Music is nice
The concept and the gameplay is nice

I think the difficulty might be increasing a bit too fast

Interesting idea, had fun playing it

Neat art style, space themes unite! Surprisingly addictive!

The 3D style with 2D assets is surprisingly convincing! Great work!

Very cool game, high score of 58 ! I liked the idea and the execution, it would have been cool if it had some more features, like if you could shoot a missle sometimes to destroy an objstacle or something. Anyways great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing, well that's a neat idea. I will add it in the post-jam update. Maybe also different spaceships.

Yahtzee says that if you're not going to do anything original you should al least do everything right, this is a perfect example of that.

Also, quite bold of you to submit to both Jams at once!

Took me like 10 tries to realize I wasn't trying to move the little space ship, but the stuff that's coming at you instead. haha once I figured that out it became a lot more enjoyable. Good job on the game!

Developer

Thank you for playing, yeah that was my impossible attemp to make the player feel that they are moving the ship. Like in flappy bird, where you are actually moving the pipes. At least I tried, hope you enjoyed :)

This game is really unique and interesting, it has a magical power of making you fixate your vision on the screen center to avoid the dangers, really unique take on the game jam theme orangomango! congrats on finishing the gamejam!
