Stellar stuff! Great polish, loved the art and the music and the visual styling of it all. Unique mechanic! I felt that the dice rolls themselves were a bit slow, most of the time was waiting for the UI animation (which was very lovely! just also long) to play out. I loved the little expression on the character's face when an empty face was rolled. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Really glad you've mentioned the animation for an empty roll - it was one of my favourites :)

The visuals and audio/music are fantastic, this is an excellent art direction, well done. The gameplay is fun and has a lot of potential, but wears off a bit after a while. Nevertheless it's a fantastic entry, great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! Glad you liked the presentation :)

This has a lot of potential ! it's core mechanics are already fun and polished. If you were to expand this with more enemies and dice upgrades, I will definitely see myself playing this for a long time. Good job !

Thanks so much! :)

I love your art style and background music for this one, reminds me of a classic 8 bit style game.

Your core mechanics are also well done and use the them of the jam well. It would have been great to have more enemies and to potentially be able to upgrade during fights, this could give you an incentive to use cash faces on your dice early in the fight to get some upgrades and then push hard for a finish to the fight.

Could be really intruiging to try making the shop accessible at any time - combined with being able to sell die (for less than purchase price) it might make more strategies possible/encourage more experimentation - definitely a really interesting idea to explore :)

Thanks for playing! Really glad you enjoyed the art and music :)

Mannn this was so well put together! I love the concept of building your own dice, especially being able to switch them out throughout the game. However, there really should be a limit to the number dice of each that can be acquired, as Allifeur also pointed out, I was able to just spam the training dummy until I could go through without paying much attention. Also, it would be nice to have either checkpoints or the ability to auto-roll, as if you died on the third level, you'd have to replay the entire thing which got really tedious. Other than that, really tight design and fun game play that wasn't overcomplicated by too many different attacks/moves. Great job ( •̀ ω •́ )✧

Developer

Thanks so much! Checkpoints would be a great addition, I absolutely should have had them in there. Cheers for playing :)

Very great visuals, I really loved it! It really sets a nice mood.

On the other hand, the design felt a bit weak. I was able to cheese the game by spamming money on the training opponent to remove any randomness entirely and finish the game with just one dice.  I would advise to add a turn limit to avoid cheesing and add more randomness on enemies to force players to consider bad outcomes in their strategies.

Everything else works very well though, so nice job!

Developer

Thanks! Preventing cheesing is high on my list of things to fix!

More randomness on the enemies is an intruiging idea - it's making me think of stealth drones that can obfuscate their plans, or RNG-Bots that give a range of possible moves instead of something more concrete - could be a lot of fun to play with implementing :)

Mecha+CRT effect= top game

Really clever use of dice, it gave player strong choice to make and big influence, which is not so easy with dice and luck in the way.

Love it!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)

It is true that CRT and mecha improves everything!

Top-notch graphics and characters, interesting gameplay, enjoyed it a lot!

Thanks so much :) I really enjoyed doing the character design for this one so very happy you liked them :)

That was so good!! Probably my favorite game this jam so far. It was simple, strategy was straightforward, and being able to see what the opponent rolled before your turn makes it way more satisfying than the other way around.
The tutorial at the beginning did allow for infinite money right out the gate, and it seems others have caught this, but it is probably a simple fix of separating the tutorial from the game itself.

Developer

Thank you so much! Means a lot to me :)

Splitting the tutorial into a separate section makes a whole lot of sense - may well end up implementing this post jam :)

Excellent concept and design. This could be really fun further expanded upon. It played really well

Thank you :)

The presentation and style are really awesome... Fantastic job!

Developer

Cheers! Really glad you liked it :)

Really polished realisation, the game is original and easy to understand! I had my sword dice, my defense or health dice, and my money dice :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you :) glad you enjoyed, sounds as though your strategy was similar to mine!

There is plenty of game using this base mechanic, but the fact we can choose and buy the dice faces really make a difference on this entry. Good job on the art and music too !
Maybe i would have balanced the starting faces a bit more, making it easier at the beggining.
The only thing i would say is maybe the rythm is not quite there, waiting for all of the dice to rolls, knowing that some are rolling literraly for nothing at the beginning is a bit long to me, but i never played turned based game a lot so i might be biased !

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing! Glad you liked the art and music :)

Something I should have made clear in the tutorial is that you can turn off die you aren't using to prevent the roll animation from playing which helps a little, but I totally agree that it's a little too slow paced as is - I'll be sure to work on pacing in future projects :)

This game had an excellent presentation with a nice screenline aesthetic. The music did its job and fit the tone. It was fun to play one time but I think my main gripe is maybe it was a bit too luck-based? By the last battle it just felt like all I could do was wait for something good to roll instead of actually strategizing. Overall though, cool little game with great quality.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

My idea was that the player could fully load a die with faces of the type they want to guarantee an outcome, although that definitely is dependant on the player having been able to gather plenty of cash towards the start, and doesn't really account for things like enemy shields etc. Something for me to work on for future!

Cheers for the feedback :)

This entry was awesome! All the little things just add up to make this feel super polished and cohesive. I also am really impressed with the implementation of the dice theme - one of the things I wanted to do in my own entry, but ran out of time to implement, was the purchasing of 'faces' to increase your odds to get something good, and it works SO well in your games' format. Awesome stuff!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed :)

It'd have been a great fit for your game too! I'd have been buying more shotgun faces for sure :)
