How does your game fit the theme?
We tried to take the prompt in a different direction than most other teams. The main premise of the game is DICING up vegetables and ROLLing them up in burritos to serve at a burrito shop.

reminds me of overcooked and diner dash haha, awesome take on the theme! i really like all the different ingredients' personalities, that was a great touch. awesome work!
Awesome combination of Overcooked with combat! Super original take on the theme with the pun, and the art style great, particularly the angry tomato! Great stuff :)
Very nice game! Gave me overcooked vibes. Definetly enjoyable. Only thing I disliked was how quickly customers would get mad. It often felt very hard to finish a burrito in time.
Also a super creative take on the theme, very fun.
Presentation is absolutely amazing! Love the art, love the music, love the sounds. The transition between outside and inside is also very clean.
.:° Enjoyment °:.
I was completely confused and was overwhelmed quickly. Especially confusing was the control scheme.

Sadly I didn't discover the theme at all in this game but I get the idea. Cooking Brigade could've been the inspiration for this.

I absolutely adore the art-style! Really. I like when non-assets are used and you bring in something personal. That's what I like to find in games.

Ah! For the theme we used a play on words! Instead of using dice as a noun (eg. playing dice) we used it as a verb (eg. dicing up vegetables). You take those diced up vegetables and put them in a burrito roll! I'm sorry the control scheme was confusing! We tried to make it easy by leaving controls/instructions in the description, but we didn't have time to make a full in-game tutorial within the 48 hours. I'm super glad you enjoyed the art though! Our artist was amazing, it was crazy to watch him go! I don't know how he makes it look so easy to make game art that looks so nice!
Yo, I guess everyone can make their own decisions but I feel like that's kinda unfair. If you don't understand the controlls or the theme at first, you shouldn't imedeatly give a low score. Not only are both the theme and controlls explained on the itch page, but you can also always ask the dev first for help (or just don't rate the game). That's just my opinion, but maybe don't jump to conclusions that quickly.
Have a nice day :)
I did unterstand the control scheme but I found it confusing. Else I would've figured it out and rated it based on that.
Rating is based on impression and not emotion. If you don't want people to grow you write something like "Absolutely great game! Please rate mine too". I want people to grow and learn which is the most important thing for me. I would have rather 10 people telling me that they hadn't fun at all with my game instead of 1 comment telling me how great of a dev I am with this masterpiece of work.
Do you know what I mean? If everyone gives me stars en masse what's the point on growing since I didn't do anything wrong but kept wondering why my game is not in the top 10 in steam then "Everyone says it's great". That means, people who don't take reviewing serious are more likely to destroy motivation than those that stay honest (not mad, bad or whatever the better word for this is) and give some insight.
This will be the only time me commenting on this topic.
Have the day you deserve.
Stay crunchy.
I was a little confused about how the game included the theme, but then I read your description :). The art style is really cool, and I like that the ingredients have their own personalities! I did have a bit of a hard time keeping up with the customers though.
if only I could move faster and carry more than one item at a time.
I really liked this! I tend to like Overcooked style games that feel very frantic but exciting. I dont play with a mouse and combat is clunky when using a touch pad, and i was menaced by the tomato regularly. I think you could have mapped the controls a bit better too, but overall, I had fun with it!
Goodness this is difficult! The graphics are quite cute and I love the unexpected theme interpretation, it is really fun to play but for the life of me I can't seem to manage to deliver most dishes on time XD
Thanks! Yeah, that's definitely one of our more controversial plot features. I think it definitely adds to the experience but maybe quality of life fixes like not having to throw away an item if you don't want to use it could make it feel a lot better. I'm thinking of doing that in the post-jam update.
Pretty on the visual side and pleasant to ear on the audio and music :)
Gameplay was fun, though I really missed having more than one "object" floating behind, though I assume it was done, so that the controls are easy to grasp (one button does everything).
Also I hate that tomato with a passion :D
The one item inventory system was based on Overcooked. We wanted the player to only have to focus on dealing with one item at a time. Do you think the ability to throw items out of your inventory them would make it more enjoyable instead of having to discard them in the trash if you don't want to currently use that item (just wondering for the list of features I'm writing down for the post-jam update)?
Hm, the thing is that you need to go fetch some stuff one at a time (three for a recipe if I remember correctly?), so that's three trips down, choping (& maybe chasing/getting stunned) some stuff and going back up.
In Overcooked you have to go fetch ingredients one at a time as well, but those are usually close by and you're much faster (movement wise).
So, my advice would be to sped up this process (or make it so, that the recipes are easier or customers more patient ;))
Btw, that's awesome that you want to work on your game post-jam!
Thanks so much for the feedback! We'll have to think up of ways to speed up the process! You can press shift to sprint in the game, but we might end up making that a little faster than it is. The artist made sprites for burrito customers to order burritos with only one or two ingredients. I think once those are implemented the process will be a lot faster!
Fun, cute overcooked-like game! Great graphics and nice sound effects (I especially love the knife) I also love the interpretation of the theme. The game is relatively easy to pick up, but if it there was more time to build I would love to have seen a tutorial within the game that builds the game up a little bit more.
All in all though, great job!
Very cool, cute game. Love the title text! Sadly I couldn’t quite figure out how to make a burrito :(
Hey sorry. It's a bit confusing and I tried to make the interactive action prompts above the head when you spawn direct the player to picking up a plate and placing it up a placemat before you get the ingredients. I wanted to do a 1 item inventory system. You can't place an item until you put it on a plate. So, if you have a food item but no plates are out you have to discard that item (in the trash) and pick up a plate and place it on one of the preparation spots. After the plate is there, you can bring burrito ingredients to it and then fold it when it's completed. I guess it turned out slightly less intuitive than I expected, sorry!
The art is pretty nice! And the game is very easy to understand
Hey, sorry about that. You need to pick up a plate from the plate stack by pressing E and bring it to one of the preparation mats at the front of the kitchen. From there you can place items on those. The game also features a 1-item inventory mechanic so if you pick up an item before putting a plate out, you'll need to discard the item (in the trash) to be able to hold the plate. I'm glad you were able to enjoy the game regardless.
