Had a blast playing this ! Also i turned into fried pigeon :p
I like the spritework, gameplay is solid as well, and i like how you mixed things up with the different patterns of current going through the wire and the blue energy surges that go faster etc... The music is incredible :o you chose it well it complements your visuals perfectly.
Didn't really have any issues here so i don't think i can add anything more.
Well done :)
FryDev I burnt my bird can i have another?
Seriously though, there's a lot of thought put into the graphics and presentation, and everything works together really well. I see you made all the art yourself and you have a great eye for visual unity and palette choice! no real criticism at all except for what seems to be a lack of thematic connection, imo. but i had a good time with my bird!
Thanks for the feedback! Just curious though, can you tell me where you thought the “lack of thematic connection” was in the game?
I would say that it does take place on a wire, which connects to an energy source, and the bird does dodge the energy source, but the birds interaction isn't really there besides just getting hurt by it, and it could really be anything dodging many possible types of obstacles. I also do say this with the understanding that my game is not too thematically connected itself (just getting energy from a pickup, essentially). You did make a good game though, I was more trying to think of something thoughtful to say beyond thinking you made a great game!
Thanks for replying! I do believe you’re right, it isn’t much of an interesting interaction or use of the theme. Really, I was just more focused on making a small-scope game with fun gameplay, which did definitely sabotage having a more interesting game idea.
I was definitely in the same place with that. Very scope focused. I saw some stuff that even if I did manage to think of, would have had no idea how to even begin coding. I did know how to make number go up when player touches a thing though.
Cute (loved the little roast bird death sprite lol). I'd have a lot of fun with this as a mobile game too.
This game is so cute, I absolutely love the art and the music. The gameplay while simple, I think it is just perfect for a game jam like this. It also really fits the theme and I felt bad when I toasted the poor bird! I would love to see this as a mobile game and play it on my phone.
Great job and good luck! :)
Slamming soundtrack. Liked the style too. Well done!
Thanks! I actually didn’t make the music, it was a track from opengameart.org. All the pixel art was made by me, though!
Fun game, and nice pixel art also.
Lovely pixel art! The roasted pigeon is a nice touch :)
Simple but effective! Cute art style, nice game.
Wow, one of the most creative ideas, it was hard to stop playing, 48 was my best score.
Loved the roasted pigeon at the end LOL. Very nice and complete game, had a lot of fun jumping around :-) Love the art style too!
Simple and lovely. I know the color palette very well x)
You guys ’member Rescure Rangers for NES? There was this section in the first level, right before the boss, with naked wires and sparks and stuff. This submission reminded me of that game. I want my childhood back 😭.
This is super cute and I love the music! Harder than I expected! Great take on the Flappy Chicken genre! 🥰
i love that you took a simple approach to this game jam! simple, fun, great job
This is so simple—in the best way—I love it! The presentation is excellent and the mechanic is instantly understandable. I can see this scaling up really well. Great work!
Great exmaple of how to get an engaging game with simple mechaichs!
Pretty game and really enjoyable. Even with simple mechanics it becomes challenging, so it is nice trying to beat your highscore.
This is a very fun and simple game! It got difficult rather quick and is a good challenge. I could probably waste a good hour getting a high score.
Very cute game!
Starts easy but damn, does the difficulty ramp up quickly. :P
The game is easy to pick-up but difficult enough that you want to play again and again to beat your highscore. The local high score is a good point, that helps a lot with replayability.
I liked the environment, it’s cute, and the colors are great together.
I’d love to see the game being taken to the next level by adding some new mechanics such as a second power line, hazards (lighting strike, wind, etc…).
Congrats for your entry!
