Really cool game! I love the characters and their animations. Character switching was a cool mechanic. Nice story and writing. Is the world procedurally generated? I couldn't complete it because I got to a point I couldn't seem to jump past with any of the characters and I thought it might be because it got generated funny. Anyway, a super impressive amount of mechanics and content for a game jam game!!

Thank you for playing! The world is indeed procedural generated! Oomp should be able to jump past all the obstacles with her triple jumping and Sloom with their grate bypassing. There is a part where you have to triple jump with Oomp and then switch back to Sloom once you're on the ledge in order to get out of the sewers. Do you remember what part you were at when it happened? I'd love for you to give it another go and see if you can complete it.

Aha, I didn't realize that Oomp had a triple jump! It was only a couple screens into the upper world, and there was an obstacle that was just a little too high to make with a single jump preventing me from getting to the next screen. That might be another downside, that the beginning dumped so much information about the characters and controls that it was hard to keep track of it all. :-) I will definitely try it again later!

Developer

No worries! Our original plan was to have the controls on the overlay, but due to time constraints weren't able to implement it.

I tried it again! It was very cool to see the procedural generation in action. :-) And, with my new knowledge of Oomp's triple jump I was able to complete the game! It was very tricky to hit the boss with the arrows. Anyway, great job on the game!

Thank you so much!

really beautiful game, I don't think I've ever seen legitimately engaging characters or story in a jam game. The combat wasn't very responsive but the dialogue and NPCs kept me engages

Developer

Thank you so much! My wife definitely worked hard on the artwork. :D

Beautiful characters and a good story.

I love the art style and the music,

Developer

Thank you so much!! You guys are going to make my wife cry. ; ~;

I enjoyed it! The level design made good use of the different characters and I liked how many different areas and backgrounds you had in the game! The animations were great and the writing was quite funny.

I ended up getting to the boss but didn't seem to manage to be able to defeat them. They ended up vanishing but there wasn't any cutscene afterwards so I couldn't quite tell if that was a bug. The boss did end up having a green circle and then a red orb around them which I think indicated they took damage?

Thank you for playing and glad you enjoyed it!

As for the boss fight, one of the NPCs mentions that werewolves can't be affected by the same attack twice. This is a small hint that you have to successfully hit them once with each character in order to succeed. The red orb indicated that he took damage from Oomp's Fireball, and the green cirlce indicated he took damage from Sloom's melee attack. You still needed to hit him successfully with one of Seraphina's arrows in order to defeat him.

As for him vanishing, were you close to the edge of the screen? It's possible that he teleported behind you and ended up one scene back and due to his VisibiltyEnabler2D, his process turns off when he's off screen, but going back one scene should have kicked it back it to where he teleported back to one of his other three teleport points. I might have to put an exception in the script to make his process keep going even if he teleports off screen when this happens. Thank you for reporting it! I would love for you to give it another try and see if you can get through to it again!

Thanks again for playing and commenting!

The graphics, art and character designs are amazing! The different mechanics of the characters are  well utilized in many different scenarios. It really feels like a full game title.

Developer

Thank you so much!! I really appreciate that.

It is certainly a state-of-the-art game jam produce. Art and Graphics well done, Character control well done! I am actually inspired to make 2D games for the next game jam!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!!! <3 Also, love your slime avatar. Sloom is single, y'know. ;)

Not sure why, but my replies to your comments aren't going through. Thank you all for your compliments on my wife's artwork and the constructive criticism on the controls of the game! I'm hoping to flesh out some of the bugs and tighten the controls a bit in the future now that I'm not under pressure of banging it out in time!

I don't think I have ever seen this level of graphics in a game jam game ever before. I absolutely loved the animation and the design of the characters. The differences between the characters are also really good (it reminded me a lot of Trine), but maybe I would speed up a bit the transformation between them. There could also be a little bit more challenge involved, but that's my personal taste. Excellent job!

Developer(+1)

I really appreciate that, my wife worked soooo hard on all the artwork, and thank you for your constructive criticism! I wanted to add more enemies on some of the maps, but for some reason (likely due to my weird camera system), my VisibilityEnabler2D wasn't working properly. I definitely agree with the transformation being a bit too long. I might double the time to make the transition a bit smoother. Thanks for playing! <3

A cute little game and great work for a first game ever! The controls, especially jumping, felt a little floaty, and I had some trouble with the imp's attack firing reliably but otherwise a fun little game. Glad the boss wasn't too tough :)

and the twin-use of "revolution" as a theme was a nice touch

Developer(+1)

Thank yoooou! We really wanted a cutesie feel for this. I will definitely look into the jumping. It was my first time toying with LERP to this extent. I also noticed that about Oomp's fireballs. For some reason the hold mechanic (same with the bow arcing at full capacity), was causing it have frames "out of bounds" and I wasn't sure how to fix that. I might just get rid of the hold mechanic altogether in the future if I can't resolve it. Thanks for the constructive criticism and thank you so much for playing the game! <3

Love it! The game play is fun, story was great and had me giggle all the time, the animations are awesome, especially the slime attack animation, great usage of the bone as a weapon, the music was cool ;)

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it!!

I loved the art. Did not know you could draw feminine aspects on a skeleton using pixels.

Enjoyed switching between characters with different abilities, as well as the story.

Thank you so much! Really psyched you enjoyed it!! This is our first ever game developed by my wife and I. She did all the pixel art and I did the programming with some debugging help from a good friend of mine.
