This is a super cute little game!  I love the pixel art and all the characters.  Fun how each curse is unique to the items too!

Adorable curse game, had fun playing with the idea and making the curses. Really well animated with a neat song

I really liked this game, simple on the surface but I can see the potential with the mortar.
Personally, I like the no instructions and discovering what the ingredients did by trail and error.

I like the physics of the objects too, Once I dropped the onion into the mortar, covered it in eyes and managed to get the onion spinning at great speed :D I couldn't reproduce it quick as good a second time though

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I found a way to "fix" the spinning onions (and spinning reagents in general) but I thought it was whimsical enough to keep around!

I couldn't figure out real rigidbodies for the reagents,  so they're actually kinematic bodies that I give gravity and velocity through a script, and then the sprite's rotation is determined by the object's horizontal velocity.

The art is to die for.  Great work

Thank you so much! I really admire your work.

This game has such a nice presentation! Unfortunately it doesn't tell you what each ingredient does nor how to prep curses... Decent entry nonetheless!

Developer(+1)

Yeah I definitely should have included a tutorial hahaha, thank you for the feedback, it means a lot!

Took me a bit to understand the game but eventually managed to give some people mild indigestion.  Great looking game - I especially liked the blob animations.

This is a great concept for a game. Loved the art style and animations!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I had a lot of fun making the art for this, it's not my usual focus, but I think it paid off :)

Submitted(+1)

That's def what jams are for, trying different parts of game dev. It definitely paid off, the animations were really nice to look at.

Very cool concept! I like the dialogue and the idea is super creative. I had a bit of a hard time figuring things out at first though. Cute characters, nice ambience and cool implementation of the theme. Great job on the submission!

Developer

I'm really glad you liked it! I definitely need to add a tutorial next time, too many interactions and no hints lol.

Fun little game! I managed to get the very first curse right, and then proceeded to get none right. :D But I still enjoyed myself while trying to figure out the right things to buy and apply. I really liked this game, good job! Loved the music, too.

Developer

You should have seen the first iteration that I uploaded lol. It was so broken and the curses we made could ONLY make people deathly ill. Lots of dissatisfied customers!

Thank you so much for checking it out :)

This game reminded me of Potion Brewster from GWJ 53!

Great beats to the music and I love the art and animation of the black blob. I loved the writing in the quest system. Great job!

I thought I had to use the mortar but it seems like I just need to place the objects in the centre?

Developer

Right now the mortar can combine the effects of reagents, which would be useful if the curses were a little fleshed out. Thank you for checking out my game! :)

Had a lot of fun with the procedurally generated texts! made me laugh out loud more than once!

It was fun figuring out what each ingredient did. I never understood what the mortar did though, I tried it on a few ingredients but it had no effect on them.

I don't know if it ends, but I eventually figured out the effect of every ingredient, and there was no curse I couldn't make!

The graphics had a lot of charm, they fitted the silliness of the texts really well.

Fun game!

The mortar takes a while to produce an output, after ~7 seconds of vigorous mixing it produces a new item that just has all of the effects of the items used to make it. Not super useful in the current state of the game, but maybe someday! I'm really glad you liked the dialogue, I wanted to see how procedural requests felt, as I have game ideas for the future that heavily involve procedural generation like this >:)

Wow, what a lot of potential!

I loved the movement of the character, the way it kind of blobs along the ground, so cool!

The concept as well, kind of like Potion Craft but for curses, is such a good one.

I think some kind of recipe journal with some basic curses in it would be amazing, then experiment to find more recipes. Mostly because I’m a casual and love having a helping hand at the start of games.

Well done!

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words!
I definitely agree, a tutorial/recipe book would be super helpful. I wanted to have some notes on the wall with some basic instructions but I ran out of time.

Hey! Absolutely loved your game!! Stunning art style including the characters, background art and UI. I struggled at first, accidently purchasing random objects and then having no money hahah but using trial and error I managed to help out a few spirits with their curse requests!!

Great game, my favourite one so far!!

Developer(+1)

I'm so glad you liked it!! I think maybe a little scripted sequence at the start could have been useful for sure hahaha.

It's missing the awesome tactile feel that the clicking sound effect gave your game! I think my next jam I'll try to focus on good audio feedback.

I love the art. I didn't end up making curses that were not crap, I am not a great curse maker lol.

Developer

I'm glad you liked it! To be fair I don't think I'm all that good at making crabs .
