Game Description
Kill robots, take their parts, fill up your BACKPACK, and outwiegh the level to smash through to the next!

How does your game tie into the theme?
As you collect parts, it fills up your backpack, weighdown the level. As the level reaches its limit, it's overloaded and explodes, sending you down to the next.

This is awesome, such a fun game. Maybe a cap of how much enemies there can be at one time would make the later levels not so laggy?  But other than that this is a great entry - art, sounds, gameplay mechanics all polished and executed effectively, good job :)

Developer

Thank you so much! Yep - that's definitely a fix we'd implement in further upgrades. I'm so glad to hear that people liked it. Thank you for rating!

Fun game! I liked the idea of the backpack growing and being able to be used as a "shield" against enemies.

Something I missed was a slightly greater variety of upgrades or higher levels than what already exists, such as the pickup one, which in the more advanced stages makes it difficult to catch the pickups passing close to them.

Developer

Definitely something that we wanted to implement but ran out of time on. Thank you for the feedback!

I picked this game because of the name and the title screen voiceover was charming as heck. The art was cute, but the parts were a little hard to see against the floor. I won't say I was good at the game, but I had fun!

Awesome stuff,  super fun and addicting, I also love the art style and point of view in this.
The controls are also very smooth so kudos for that!

Super good job!

Early-game is fun, but it lags like hell once you get to the final upgrades. The parts blend into the background, and the small white font isn’t always clear. The autofire was very helpful!

I really liked this. A very fun little arcade game. The only criticism I had was that at level 5 the enemy health spike was just too much. Not sure if it had to do with the upgrades I picked, as I picked movement speed but it was impossible to progress past level 5 due to how hard it was to kill the big guys.

Overall though it's really well done and fun.

Very polished, fun to play with great art style. I spend much more time in the game than I initialy expected. Good Job!

Developer

Thank you so much, that is so kind of you to say! We loved working on this, it was our first project, and there were a ton of other small things we wanted to add. Maybe we'll still look to complete it and it can be an even better experience and you can spend some more time on it haha

at minute 6 I had too many enemies so the game started kinda lagging. Perhaps it make sense to limit amount of enemies which can be deployed at once as it is done in vampire survivor or risk of rain

overall a decent game! good job

Developer

You're 100% right - there are several small changes like that which would definitely improve the game. This is definitely one of those! And probably making the enemies a little easier to kill so there are less on-screen as the new ones spawn in. Thank you for the feedback!

Nice game, feels good quality

Super fun to play and quite challenging. I love the retro feeling it has.

Fun game. Nice job. I especially liked the difficulty progression.

Developer

Thank you! We had soooo much more tinkering to do to get it to feel even better, but I'm glad you liked where we ended up! We had a couple more enemies planned, including one that eats the dropped parts to give some more variety, but they actually made it like impossibly difficult in the later stages of the game.

best part is the audio, good ost and the REALLY BIG BACKPACK intro is a instant classic material, but the actual game is a bit eh, sprites feel mismatched (i see you robot from nuclear throne) and gameplay is just, another vampire survivors clone, otherwise solid game

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback! None of us has ever really done art before and since I'm the least experienced at coding, I offered to do the art. I basically just started by copying sprites I liked and trying to make them a bit more unique. I had no thoughts about a theme or style going in, was totally learning on the fly, so that's why everything feels so hodgepodge and mismatched - because it is! Haha. We are all huge VS fans so this was our tribute, and I think we learned that what really makes the game better is the cool interactions between all the weapons (which we obviously didn't have time to even implement!).

Copied from itch.io page:
Survived 5:09

Pros:

  • Sweet ass retro soundtrack and artstyle
  • Good humour - I wish I could only see the alternative to game ogre :'(
  • Challenging

Cons:

  • They get so close that I can't shoot them anymore (weapon range too long)
Developer

Thank you for the feedback! About the weapons - that's something we noticed in testing too and though we had a fix in mind, but this is all of our first project on Godot and we were just not fast enough to fix all the minor issues. It was a triumph just to get it all put together so fast! The soundtrack was made by a friend and as soon as I heard it I was like "oh yeah this makes the game so much better" lol.
