Beat it on the first try! Great gimmick, awesome presentation, good tools for the player to "survive". My only complaint would be that it felt a bit too long - but I guess it made it all the more immersive :)

Great job, Uncles!

Developer

Thank you all for your kind comments and generous scoring!  And thanks to GWJ for running this thing; it's awesome what y'all do for the Godot community.  In addition to making a platform for us all to experiment, learn, and play, you help spotlight this incredible game engine!  Good job to everyone who participated this jam; keep making neat stuff!  We were happy just to be a part of it! ^_^

I liked the game even if I didn't understand the scoring system! and the choice of cards was logical, I think.

Developer

The students' grades acted as a time modifier, adding or subtracting to the cards you play.  The better their grade in a subject, the less effective a card in that subject would be, and vice versa.  It's kind of counterintuitive, and definitely could have been shown better on screen.  Glad you liked it anyway, thanks for your comment :D

I loved the graphics & audio. Very clever idea. I can't say I understood the mechanics or gameplay, but I liked the look and feel of everything.

Developer

Thank you very much!  Yeah, I wish we spent more time on the UI for the mechanics, but then again I'm happy with how the graphics and audio turned out too.  Thanks for playing!

Loved this! The art and sound are both really good. The concept is also super solid and was lots of fun to play. Fantastic work!

Developer

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

Very much enjoyed this one! Took me a second to figure out, but I managed to beat the game third try, almost overloaded with not a whack to spare.  I'm really impressed with just how great a fit this theme is for a card game, all the mechanics really come naturally from the setting. On top of that, great artstyle and sound. Excellent!

Developer(+2)

Awesome, thanks!  We spent basically whole first day just trying to come up with an idea that would fit the theme, so I'm happy to hear your feedback on it.

"With not a whack to spare" :D

I like your original take on the theme! The pixel art looks goofy, I particularly enjoyed the teacher characters: they look hilarious.

The card game itself is good, too. Once I figured out how the average grades affect time spent on task, it was pretty easy to beat the game. The tutorial could have been improved, because during my first playthrough I didn't understand what is going on, but still there is enough information to figure out game mechanics on your own right now.

Maybe it would be fun if rules changed in the second half of the day somehow or if there were some random events.

Great job! Good luck to your team of Uncles in your future projects!

Thank you!  Probably would have been better if we had the grade modifier numbers visible next to the grades, but I ran out of horizontal screen space.  Couldn't quite figure out that spatial puzzle of fitting all relevant info on screen.  Good idea for the second half of the day.  Does get to feel a bit same-y by then.  We originally were going to have the player go for a whole week rather than just a day, but had to make significant cuts toward the end of the jam for time's sake.  Thanks for your feedback and for the good luck; we'll try to put it to good use!

I really liked it, one of my favorite entries so far. I'd love a fleshed out game with that kind of theme

Developer(+1)

I really appreciate your comment!  Maybe one day, you never know.  Hopefully someone else beats us to it so I don't have to spend another dev-hour in front of a class of screaming children ;D

What a cool game! how did you come up with the idea?

Developer(+1)

Thanks, too bad we didn't think of flamethrowers!  Picking an idea to go with was pretty hard this jam, especially since it was our first time teaming up like this.  We went through a bunch of ideas the first day, and Uncle Josiah suggested something like "overload students with homework."  We thought that seemed  the most compelling and unique of all our ideas, so we went with it.  It was originally supposed to be a deck-builder, but we ran out of time, and that part got cut.  Thanks for playing!

Your game is incredibly enjoyable! I barely made it to the end, which added to the excitement. I appreciate the attention to detail. Great job on creating such a captivating game!

Developer

Thanks for playing!  Didn't have much time to balance, so I'm glad to hear there have been some close-call wins!  Cheers!

Nice game! I love the idea and the details. Really fun to play and engaging!

Thanks Godotdreamers!  Keep the dreams alive!

We will definitively(not) do that!

Very cool game, super fun, and as a person that had relation to education, I know very well what this game is about) It looks very simple at first glance, but when you deep dive it's quite complex. The only issue, why it is not HTML5? I belive it should work well, and that will give this game much wider audience

Developer

Glad you had fun!  I had issues with HTML5 and shaders not playing well together in browser last year for GWJ #53, so I kinda just ignored it this year.  Which reminds me... I forgot to credit the shaders I used!

This game is super fun! I made it to the end on a very small margin. Very nice attention to details in the classroom. I was engaged the whole way through.

Developer

Thanks, Ruff!  Good job making it to the end!  It's kind of more difficult to do than intended.  We were rushing at the end, so not much time to balance.  Glad you like the details :D

Currently, the most beautiful game I've played in this jam... the idea of playing as a nun is top-notch. Well done, guys, congratulations on your creation. Definitely a lot of quality.

Developer(+1)

Wow, thank you ^_^  Glad you enjoyed the art!  Sticking to a color palette (https://lospec.com/palette-list/nostalgic-dreams) helped a lot. Cheers!

Really fun and engaging. The card effects really make you think twice before using them. Audio is immersive. Overall a great game.

Developer

Thanks! :D That was basically my goal for the cards: make the player think at least a little before playing them.  The sound effects were all from https://freesound.org/ and all creative commons.  Cheers!

This was honestly really fun and really stressful, love the different characters you can play as. the art is the best part of the game and the ui could be a little confusing at times i probably just need to play it more to understand it but other than that A+!

Developer(+1)

Glad you had fun despite the stress!  Yeah, it's not just you - the UI is pretty janky even to me.  But that's game jammin' for ya!  Probably spent too much time on art, not enough of actual gameplay.  Thanks for the comment!

Loved it, I don't think I've felt that level of relief at lunch time for years, or so much stress when it ends and the days not over

Developer

Thanks!

^_^" Whew!  Lunchtime at last!
