Game Description
Alien has crash landed on an unhospitable moon. Help them repair their ship and escape. Gather raw materials from the environment and use the portable space forge to make ship parts needed for repairs. And beware the space tiger...

How does your game tie into the theme?
Well, the game has a forge and you forge stuff so you can forge onward.

Thank you everyone who played, commented and rated my first finished solo jam game! I expected way worse results and had said that I'm happy if I'll make it even to the top 100 with this one haha. I will continue developing this game so it will someday resemble more of the game I designed in the beginning of the jam. I'll also make some of the corrections and bug fixes that were mentioned here in the comments.

Maybe not the next one, but see you in some future GWJs! This was fun! :)

Great game! Good luck.

Cute graphics design! Pleasant to look at. The gameplay is slow though, a sprint button would have been great. Otherwise pretty decent :)

I didn't expect the space tiger to be so big :o. It definitely got me ;(. Fun, funny little game.  Loved the derpy alien movement, especially with the tense music.  I wish I'd been able to move a little faster since the resources were so spaced out and I didn't know which way to go.  I thought getting eaten by the space tiger made for the funniest wah-wah-wah-wah effect I've seen in this jam.  Overall an enjoyable little experience.  Nice work!

Thank you! Funniest wah-wah-wah-waah? This made my day! :)

Enjoyable little experience with some really nice and simple art direction which works very well! I would maybe like it if the character was just a tad bit faster, but just a bit of nitpicking. If you were to expand this game, some parts might be hidden in ruins, caves, or other landmarks which you have to discover. I am really seeing a potential "outer wilds" type of game experience, where you uncover an unfamiliar world by exploring for the sake of exploring. But other than that, really nice job, and glad you finished in time this jam :DDD

Thank you! I'm also glad. This was actually the first time I publish a solo game for a game jam or actually for anything/anywhere. :')
When the jam started and I was designing the game, I had thoughts about different forms of collectable materials (like liquids and gasses also), different tools you could also build so you could collect better materials and get to places you wouldn't otherwise. But the ultimate goal was always to repair your ship so you could escape. Also different biomes, different alien monsters (also harmless creatures) and many kinds of secrets and curiosities you could find and all that haha whoops. Then I realized that oh damn, am I making a "poor man's subnautica"?! I do have my very own leviathan lifeform in the shape of a space tiger in my game after all haha! :DD ...Let's see how much of the original idea comes to life if/when I update this game in the future. And yes, I'll probably make the player walk faster also. 8)

I enjoyed this a lot, and overall a very polished game - very impressive for a one person team! The art, music and mechanics were all great, and I especially liked the small details like the digging animation for mining.

Think I found a couple of bugs though: a couple of times I got stuck in a loop on digging and after a while the things I was mining didn't seem to add to my inventory anymore. One typo (since you asked) the button on the menu/tutorial screen says "OK, lets!" but I think you mean "OK, let's go!".

Oh, and the beat in the music synching with the head bop and pistons on the forge was brilliant!

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad people (like you also!) can enjoy those little details in a game like this! And yes, the digging loop is a known issue and I think I know of the other one that you mentioned as well. I think it's the forge menu buttons that can cause the inventory to break if clicked repeatedly or something like that. Will look into that. I intend to correct these as soon as I umm- have energy to continue this project again haha! Soon, maybe. Oh and the language thing. That bit in the beginning is an intentional typo, it's a kind of an inside joke between me and my friends to say only "let's" when we're about to do something, but yeah I guess it looks weird for a native speaker, yes? :D

Still again, thank you for the feedback! I'm amazed and almost moved by how kind and constructive all these comments on my game project have been. Wish all of the internet was like this. :')

It’s a wonderful game. I appreciate meeting the creator in person, but I would suggest placing a ‘continue’ button on the splash screen.

The visuals are clean and modern. The music and SFX match the game well. Especially the SFX, which builds anticipation during mining.

Sometimes the scene and the character become whiter. Is it also an effect? It looked like an interesting peculiarity.

Wondering around was quite atmospheric despite the fact that there was mostly bare landscape (or was it thanks to it?). There was a constant feeling of being alien to this place and also a feeling that you needed to keep track of where you went so as not to get lost. Placing some Easter eggs on such a level would feel very rewarding for a wandering player. Or were there some? :)

I have to admit that collecting the other 6 x 3 of the same elements did feel redundant. My kid really wanted to see the tiger, so we just went to the wild and waited there. XD

Thank you very much! These are the words I absolutely wanted to hear haha! And yes, the splash screen is problematic at the moment. Was one of the last things I did and well, you probably know how it goes. And yes! The subtle color changes was indeed an effect I created partly by accident but I really liked it so I left it in the game. And I absolutely agree that this kind of game should have some secret things you could find in the wasteland! Maybe with the next update. :)

And yes, that is my Biggest Regret with this version that I left it like that. Like that every ship part needed 6 pieces of everything. It's way too much for a little game like this. I'll keep updating this game in near future and I am going to implement almost everything- / fix every bug mentioned here and elsewhere. Many of the suggestions resonate with my own thoughts. Hopefully seeing the tiger made your kid happy :D

This is well made. The mining was satisfying. I got the soft lock problem as mentioned below. After looking at the comment here I avoided mining if two mines are close together. I managed one trip out and brought back some material. Then on the second trip I got lost and wasn't able to find my way back. I avoided the tiger for sometime, but it got me eventually. The tiger part was actually pretty suspenseful, not sure if that was intentional. You only get "the tiger is approaching" messages, with some sounds and no idea what it looks like. Also it maybe helpful to be able to stop mining and run when the tiger message appears.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Yes the suspense was indeed intentional. In earlier phase the tiger even scared ME a little while test playing  and was maybe little too jump scare-like haha!  So I toned it down a little and now it's just the right amount suspense I think. I was not trying to make a scary game after all. And yes, you're right about the mining. It was possible to stop mining before and I should have left it like that.  I kind of overscoped a liiiiittle bit and ended up leaving many things I designed out and some decisions would have made more sense with those things I left out. Oh well. That is one of the things I'm going to implement when I update the game next time. :)

Unique experience. Short if tiger... but it was fun! There is something about the UI that makes it feel so good, even when you get the deny messages. Good job!

The art and music is full of personality. I think I found a bug where sometimes I tried to scavange some ore but the bar didnt go down and I got soft locked, couldnt figure out how to proceed except quiting, its a shame because I wanted to try the game more

Developer

Thanks! Yeah I know about that bug. I think it has something to do with if two minerals spawn too close to each other and you pass from one's area straight to other's. I'm going to fix that (and the other known bug) the very first when I update this sometime in the near future.

Firstly, the fact that the animations sync up with the music is fantastic hahaha.  I quickly learned that even though I think I'm decent at navigating, after a longer trip, I completely lost the ship and couldn't find it again - need some kind of map or even something as simple as a compass.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, I actually made a kind of compass into the game but decided to remove as I thought it made it too easy to avoid the space tiger :D  - But you're right. It is too difficult to find your way back to the ship right now. I have some thoughts already how to fix that in the future. 8)
