I really enjoyed this! There is not a ton of mechanical depth to it, but it a super solid foundation to keep building on. The simplistic graphics are pleasing to look at, and the particle effect of the princess ending was a nice touch. well done!

I couldn't get the third ending ;-;

It took me some time to realize the orange ones didn't hurt me (at least at first touch). The sword could be use to kill, but also to push enemies, the oranges could be useful or hurtfull, the purple were the evil and the hero... Great game design, congrats!

You need to kill the witch before freeing the princess.

I like the game, I hate the orange dudes :) Good job!

I just loved this! I thought the idea of turning the squares you defeated into adoring fans was wonderful. I think you did a ton with the simple shapes, and it leaves so much up to the imagination. Great job on not telling the player how to feel.

The movement and sword felt really nice. And I was genuinely surprised at the ending! Great work!

I love the simple graphics and the twist ending caught me off guard lol very nice!

Nice and simple game! Simple basic art but it still looks pretty nice. However the game definitely lacked sound effects and music and was a lil repitiive. Great job for the first jam!

Very simple, but very clean game. I really liked the feel of the sword and enemies. My main complaint would be the seeming absent of invincibility frames or the like. I tried to squeeze by enemies sometimes with full health and they'd just dribble me against the wall, instantly killing me D:

Nice entry, especially for a first solo project. :D

I died a lot of times.
Those red rectangles are very hurtfull.
Nice game, some sound effects may make it better (attack, hit, death)

I really liked the use of the squares! It shows you don't need fancy graphics to make something fun and engaging. I also liked the multiple endings and enemies. I used the orange ones as shields to kill the reds. As a suggestion, if you used some soft 2D lighting and occlusion shapes, you could achieve something graphically similar to Thomas was Alone. Very cool game!

Ohh I like the way Thomas Was Alone looks. Thanks for the tip, I’m definitely saving that one for future reference!

I found red, green and orange opponents. The orange ones can't be killed. But I don't understand how to make progress in the game. But I can see from the other comments that I haven't been able to see everything yet. What have I missed?

There’s a purple one out there, it can be a bit hard to find and can appear in different places on different runs.

thats a cool, simple game with surprisingly polished gameplay. The multiple endings were a nice touch. Also I've found an exiting way to kill enemies: lure them to the side of the castle. :) Nice job!

Hi! I really enjoyed this game. Graphics were basic and clean, in a positive way. Gameplay was interesting and I did get hooked for a while : ). Were the orange enemies indestructible and was it as part of the theme?  Good job!

Developer(+1)

Happy to hear you liked it! The oranges are indeed indestructible. I thought of it as a small theme-y thing, even though I tried to bake most of the theme into the story. You can get another small surprise out of the oranges if you really let them hug you.

Nice job! I liked the big world, but I think some variety in terms of enemies, combat, or movement would've made it more fun to traverse. I also didn't hear any audio: even some simple free sound effects and background music  can make a huge difference (unsure if that was a bug or not, I can hear audio on other games)!

Developer

There is indeed no audio, I hope to start adding sounds in the future but wasn’t there yet. :) Thanks for playing!
