I do love me a point&click game!  Well done for sure, especially being your first GWJ gamejam!

The art is incredible, well done! And a nice story, told without (almost) no words

Very nice game. Awesome art and interesting mechanics. Keep up good work!

Congratulations for such a great game! We loved the art and the music. The puzzle was fun to solve as well. We'll love to play an extended version of this game! :D

Thank you very much for your kind words and stay tuned, somewhere in near future there will be an update coming :D

Great art and animations. The puzzle at the end seemed to take a couple of retries before the solution triggered the end sequence. Nice vibe. Love the style! A little hint button (amanita style) would perfect this I think ;) Great job!

Squirrel: thanks for playing and for the feedback.

The hint button is supposed to be there, the code is there and all, but we ran out of time :) we’ll update the game after the jam to include it. We’ve been bugfixing till the last minutes. I’d love to understand what was happening in your case of the end scene not triggering? Thanks!

oh shuck. Yeah been there with the last minute updates. It's a high risk.

In terms of the puzzle, I entered the pattern as shown on the screen and pressed the green button, but the pattern just flickered and disappeared. I redid it a couple of times bc I didn't see any other clues, and on the third or fourth try it gave me the end scene

Hope it helps

Fantastic art and animations. I got stuck at the red balls, I'm not so good at point-and-click puzzles so that may not be fully representative of the difficulty though.

Developer

Squirrel: Thanks for playing our game (and going outside of your comfort zone). Also thanks for taking the time to provide feedback. The red balls were meant to be the “final boss” :)

Point and click game puzzles are difficult to balance. My lesson learned here is that more time should be spent on balancing and less on “fancy under-the-hood” mechanics.

Radish: We will work on making this puzzle more clear! Thank you for your feedback!

The art and character animations were really good! The Game of Life puzzle was a bit buggy, it seemed like it kept processing my input sequence after it should have stopped. Had to try entering the password a couple of times before it worked.

Over all nice work! I'm sad it was so short!

Developer

Squirrel: thanks for playing and for the feedback. The final puzzle was supposed to allow for feedback, for possible easter eggs. You’re right, though; in hindsight at this stage and this context, there is no need for player to be able to interfere with the sequence. In the updated version, once the proper sequence starts, player’s inputs won’t be processed anymore.

The puzzle engine is looking for a specific sequence of live cells, over 8-or-so iterations. It removes an array entry every iteration, if it matches the “key”.

Technically, if the player knew the live cells sequence, they have 1 second per iteration for input that would be considered by the engine and could potentially hack-solve the puzzle.

For the bug you’ve found, I think it’s because the puzzles “solving key” array isn’t reset properly between retries. Definitely something I’ll look into. Thanks!

P.S. we’re thinking on adding more content after the game jam, without all the time pressure we hope to deliver more quality :)

Radish: You are the first person to recognize The Game of Life! Congratulations! :D

I'd love to play more when it gets updated! Dropped you a follow so I can stay up to date!

And the Game of Life thing I can't take credit for, I was streaming the game on discord and my friend recognized it immediately! Really cool idea to incorporate that as a passcode mechanism, especially cool with the theming of your game. Once again, awesome work!

Fantastic art and animations. Loved it. I can't say I knew what to do at the puzzle with the red balls though.

Developer

Squirrel: thanks for playing and for the feedback.

Point taken, about the final puzzle. I just didn't have the time to improve its clarity before submission. We’re thinking on developing the game a little further after the jam - nothing too fancy, though. For one, we’ll add hints on what needs doing, as this was the content we had to cut to make the submission on time. Thanks!

The art is *delightful* and the game plays well. Short, but sweet and extremely good looking and polished, enjoyed it a lot
