I didn't really understand the game at first, but once I found the shop and bought some auto pens it started to make sense. It's really well done I think just confusing at first. Nice job!
Yeah i need to guide the player for the first step next time, also so you know you can change the ink the jar produced with the black square, so even auto pens can use differents ink. Thanks to this jam i now know that a tutorial is required XD thanks for playing
I did not have the same experience as the others who have commented, so it's probably all due to user error. I thought I would be able to change the color of the ink since there are the RGB dots on the jar of ink, but either I had the wrong tool or they don't actually do anything. I felt like the game just kept taking my money when I was trying to refill my ink without actually giving me anything. I clicked on the refill price button, the black meter above it, and the RGB ink jar. Eventually the bar would fill up, but the bar near the paint disable button would still be empty. I don't know what I was doing wrong. Also, when I clicked the little black square near the refill price button, a translucent black square appeared on the top left corner of the paper but didn't seem to really do anything. I think the concept is there, but the implementation could use a bit more polish. Or maybe I need to watch someone else playing so I understand how to play. 😅
The rgb dot was use just as visual and doing reference to color, my bad for that.
Refill the ink cost a bit (25) and refill only the jar connect to it, to refill the pen you need to guide the pen to the jar (later you can unlock a button to refill the pen directly). The black square near the refill button is use to change the ink from the jar but you need to purchased them at the shop. If it's empty it's because none were purchased.
Almost everyone failed or struggle to get the game controls, i really failed to get the player to understand how things work but well, now i know why tutorial are really important even if we skip them most of the time XD. The user error you have experience is due to me not guiding the user through the first step, if my reply help and you have time don't hesitate to try again to reevaluate my game
Thanks for playing and sorry for the inconvenience
Nice game! I liked how many upgrades you had available, I did my best to get them all. Eventually I got to a point where I couldn’t fill out the page anymore, as the erasers were just too overpowering and I had nothing else to buy.
Cool concept, sunk some time into this lol. Good work!
I did my best to add a bit of everythings since the shops is core gameplay and i wanted to view it filled with goods.
For the difficulty I probably mess up somethings since i planned for something more or less linnear so that shouldn't have happenned, knowing me i probably invert + and * again while doing the formula my bad XD (and i didn't really play-test for the difficulty curve), i'm going to patch it for next update along with the tutorial, thanks for your feedback
I really really love this one. It took a bit to figure out the controls (a tutorial would be nice!) but after I figured it out it was really fun. The shop had a nice layout and I see where you were going there! The only minor bug I noticed was my volume settings not carrying over from the main menu, otherwise everything worked well! Great submission.
I didn't know about the sound but could see that happened. Glad you liked the shop layout, i tried to do a "proper" UI for the first time. Yeah the lack of tutorial ... i say it again but i really mess it up, i should make time next time for a proper one XD, i did a how to play button but it's just that lacking, the first thing i add after the jams end is a tutorial. Thanks for playing !
Honestly a really fun game, I had to give it a second try to get into it but when I did it really became fun
Thanks for giving it a second try ! I really mess up the how to play part, i'm really glad you liked it
Same as others, I struggled a bit with the controls. Not knowing where to click to refill the color and all my work being constantly erased :) Then I bought a better tool in the shop and then an auto pen and then it became a completely different game :)
Yeah it seems to be a bigger problem than expect, i need to work on this part (a lot because i'm terrible at explaining things). I'm planning to make a proper tutorial when i got the time. I didn't consider enough that player don't know the game when they test it. Thanks for playing!
Reference to TTGL *-*
To be honest, I didn't understand how the game worked, I had to read the comments to understand. Once I understood it, I really liked it, it's very interesting. I played enough to buy almost everything. Maybe you just need to improve the tutorial.
When it is not in fullscreen, the window is cropped and part of the information does not appear. You can fix this in Godot's settings, go to Mode and put Canvas Item.
Oh, i'm really glad that you like it in the end,
still not understanding how the game work and the fact that you need to read the comment to understand it just show how bad my tutorial is (and there i was thinking it was still good for a rush attempt), After the jam i'm définitly going to improve the tutorial, that's too much of a flaw that player can't comprend the game within the said game.
Thanks for the tips and honest feedback it means a lot
Oh, it's an incremental game sorta! I like it :D
Art is nice, music is nice. The volume is decently balance, and also has sliders.
It threw me off at the start, with the enemy? erasers chasing down stuff quickly. But actually, I quite like it overall.
Also "use a friends hand" - "do you not feel any shame?" XD lmao
I tried to do everything myself, i start pixel art recently and the music played by me too, i'm happy to hear you like them.
I'm planning to improve a bit the erasers progression since i actually just put them like that and i don't know the difficulty curve, seems it start a little strong
Thank you for your feedback, glad you like it
took a minute to figure out how to navigate the UI, but once I treated it as an idle/automation game I enjoyed saving up and buying a bunch of auto pens and the upgrades.
Thanks for playing, i did my best on the UI side and i found it harder than expected to do. I. honestly don't really know how to make navigation easier, but i'm planning to add a better in game tutorial in the futur. thanks for the feedback
It was a little hard for me to figure out how to play first but I think I got something working. I managed to save up for the big brush and definitely had a lot of fun just spamming the page with ink! I'd definitely like to see this expanded!
Glads you enjoy it, I was short on time to do the how to play so i probably rush it a bit too much. But it should covers the controle at least
