A fun concept to play some classics and their reversed versions. The theme was checked off, and the color palette was well used. Visually, everything looked polished and well done.

I did notice some flickering during Pong, which made it a bit hard on the eyes, but I was still able to finish it. For the other games, I didn’t experience that issue. There was a slight lag with the bricks game, but nothing game-breaking.

The classics are fun to play for a reason, of course. Well done to remake them in Scratch! The reversed versions were a clever idea, though they felt less enjoyable gameplay-wise compared to the originals. The voice acting was fantastic, and the sarcasm in it was a nice touch. The audio overall was well put together.

I finished the game and had fun doing so. The controls were simple and worked well.

A solid entry for the jam—great job! 😊

Thank you for your nice words! I didn't experience that flickering before and it would be really weird if it actually does flicker. You could try to check the colors with a color picker, the color should stay the same... The lag when destroying a brick was intentional. I thought it works really well slow motion effect, but now that I think of it, I should have added some hint to it with the music playing slower or something. Thanks for playing our game!

The color are the same, that is not it and also no problem with palette, but when moving the paddles it seems pixels go on and off.
I just checked it, it are the spike animations on the paddles that did a little trick on my eyes... Maybe just my eyes are getting old ;-).
It was a minor issue by the way. The game was still fun :-)!

Thanks a lot! Yes, the paddle animation uses only two frames, which can be a bit irritating

I like the take on the theme that is also reflected in the name you chose for the game. and instead of making just one game you made a few smaller ones. well done

Thank you so much!

Great concept! Although the games were really hard at times, there were strategies you could use to make them easier, which I really liked. It's very ambitious, and the fact that it's made in Scratch is very impressive as well. There are some bugs, but they generally did not ruin the experience. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! I think I should have focused on something a bit easier and put more time into polish and bugfixing when joining such a short game jam next time. It is always hard for me to make games challenging, but not too hard, because me as the developer just knows the game too good, so I often underestimate the difficulty

I can't remember if the original Pac Man worked the same way or not, but it's possible to lose immediately after winning. It was sort of funny to hear "You win!" immediately followed by "You lose!"

Creative use of the theme, well done!

Developer (1 edit)

Yeah, sorry about that... No pac man doesn't work exactely as I did it here (the real pac man is faster, ghosts respawn...) but at most parts this was intentional. I am pretty sure you didn't play through the whole game though! The problem with losing after winning, is that only the loss will be saved. Again, I am really sorry. But please try the game once again! Pac man is actually only the 1st part of 6 in the whole game and you can only continue once you win. Thanks for your comment!

The narrator is a nice touch, along with the sarcastic tone. Nice job recreating the mechanics in multiple games/minigames in this amount of time. Keep it up!

I'm a big fan of the arcade classics, so I was pretty excited to try this. Video game deconstructions are of course a dime a dozen nowadays, so I appreciate how tongue-in-cheek (with a touch of seriousness) this experience was. You truly did an amazing job capturing the jam's theme in terms of coloring and perspective switching. In fact, this feels like a more polished successor to Video Game Morality Play. Some notes, however.

Pac-Man should either be faster or have a dash button like in certain ports of Ms. Pac-Man. The lack of sound effects in any of these games, especially the Waka-Waka, really hurts the otherwise authentic experiences. I'd also suggest using a parody name like Packing-Man or something instead of just Pac-Man.

Thank you for this insightful feddback! I can definitely see the problem with pac mans speed, but I think while coding the game I just became way too good, so even the product semt way too easy to me, so I keeped it like it was. If I had the time to, someone would have tested it before sharing, but I really didn't... Same problem with the effects. Even with the extra day, I would have loved to be able to spend one last day on polishing, maybe some particles or screen shakes... A deadline can be cruel. Thanks for your nice words anyways

You're welcome! You did great!

Yo?!? peak knocked on your front door and left greatness cause man this is pretty good! The voice over made the experience more immersive too! My only complaint is that the pac man is a wee bit slow for my liking, but that is a small nitpick compared to the rest of the game, the sprite work, the message- This was straight up clean. Empathetic arcade machine/10

Developer

Thank you so much for this nice feedback! Were you able to play through the whole game? Because I heared from a few people even after they won in pac man, it didn't continue.

yeah I made it all the way through to where the games reversed ex: you were the ghost, you played as the alien, pong, etc

Developer

Okay, thanks a lot!
