How is your game related to the special object and theme?
There is no jumping in the game, and so the way you get vertical momentum is by running into walls at top speed.

Hey um... I love this. The vibe is immaculate and you hit the nail right on the head with the momentum theme. I thought the lack of a jump ability was brilliant, it forces the player to really get to know the slide and wall-bounce mechanics. Great job overall, it's an enjoyable and polished project :) I had a lot of fun playing, I hope you had fun making it.
Thank you! I did have fun making it.
wanted to punch my monitor... 10/10 would play again
Glad you enjoyed!
This game was really fun to play. c:
One thing that I personally would change is the camera position. Because it gets quite fast pasted at some points and I feel like it should be way more zoomed out so the player can actually see what comes next and try to plan how to use their momentum.
But the game feels very polished and is very cute and enjoyable. Great job!
Thank you! I did sort of fix the camera thing in the last room, but for some reason didn't think to apply that to the whole game :P
I really like the ominous vibe that the music makes. The movement mechanics are sooo cool and unique. It takes a lot of skill but is fun once you get the hang of it.
Thank you! The music was mostly accidental, I just apparently hit all of the ominous-sounding chords ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This is my favorite game from this game jam hands down. It nails all the themes while being extremely fun and engaging. This game made me frustrated but that frustration compounded me into focusing and getting good, in which, I eventually beat the game. The music and the visuals absolutely compliment each other and i personally think that it nails that Christmassy feeling. Fantastic game and well done!
Thank you so much!
The graphics are nice and the movement is very fun and bouncy! Wish the camera was more zoomed out and less dark. 7/10
Thank you! I agree with the camera thing - coming back to it, it does feel a bit too limited.
Thank you!
This game is so much fun to play! The idea is super interesting, and the sound effects are spot on—they make everything feel so SMOOTH!
Thank you!
Great use of momentum! I like the sound effects and pixel art too, I just don't have the patience or dexterity to play this game
Thank you! I was initially going for a Celeste-esque artstyle, but then it sort of turned into its own thing.
You ABSOLUTELY nailed momentum, candy cane, AND christmas. All that being said this game is FRUSTRATING to play, it's like if someone surrounded you in jello and said "You like challenges though yeah??" it just doesn't make my soul happy. The art is top notch, the movement code is fantastic as well. I think the concept just didn't hit me right, but that certainly doesn't take away from your idea.
Thank you! I've gotten the "frustration" comment a lot lol - I think I just personally enjoy difficult games.
I think that's dope and super respect that, and I think on the flip side it can be annoying to prefer challenging experiences and be scrutinized for it. The game is functionally sound and you definitely nailed it.
I loved the implementation of momentum, a very original way of using it and a good level design.
Merry Christmas! 🎄 <3
Thank you! The level design took up most of the time, glad to see you liked it!
Merry Christmas!
Loved it. The jump mechanic was so much fun, and frustrating in just the right ways. And I loved the little story. One of my faves of the jam so far.
Cheers!
D
Thank you! The little story took like 2 minutes (initially there was going to be a bossfight at the end but I ran out of time, so I had to scrap the old story). Glad you enjoyed!
What a cool concept not being able to jump and having to use momentum instead, and the tutorial was really good also. great game!
Thank you! The momentum idea came mostly from the initial idea (running up walls) failing, and the fact that I can't create a good jump to save my life XD
pretty fun
Thank you!
Nice graphic and audio identity! I liked the idea of bouncing instead of jumping, nice idea!
Thank you! I was trying to go for an old-school pixel-art style and retro SFX, so this means a lot!
I like sounds and effects
Thank you! This was my first time making my own sounds, so this means a lot!
Clever and cute! Love it
Thank you!
😭 This jam is making me realize how bad i am at playing video games. I couldn't even beat the tutorial level! i really liked the bounce mechanic and no jumping thing, and the art was great. it was fun to play, I just wish I wasn't so bad at this.
Thank you! I think the difficulty came 90% from the fact that I play wayyy too many 2D platformers :P
I think there's also something about making the game? After testing it and trying it a thousand times, i always go "this is too easy.".... Then i make it too hard for anyone else lol.
I like the game a lot. I like the visuals. No jumping definitely make the game more challenging but I liked it for sure :)
Thank you! To be honest, the lack of a jump was just because of the difficulty of writing a good jump lol.
This is so underrated. The platforming is a bit finicky, but the rest of the game is well-made and polished. Congrats! I hope this gets more attention.
Thank you so much!
