Never have I ever seen a turtle jump so high. Also—the ground not moving at all gives the impression that bushes and rocks are flying full-speed at this poor turtle. Poor guy.

Yup, I'll agree with everyone else, the turtle sprite is pretty cool. Needs some animation and audio, though.

Cute turtle )

That is one very cute turtle :D

Excellent art on the player character! Some more fidelity would've been nice, e.g. to be able to see movement on the ground tiles, or a few frames of animation on the player.

Submitted

fun, i've made 277 points. Would be better with music and animations.

I love that cute as hell turtle.

Congrats again Max. Fun little game.

my score: 193 \o/ this is like an early early 2000 internet game, hard as nails and addictive ^^ Id have played something like this in IT instead of doing the work haha

Keep at it with pixel art! I love the Turtwig, and you've got some good shading going on. The gameplay is fun, and you kept the resolution. 5/5/1/5.

I don't know if i'm bad or if the timing is simply too tight, but I cannot get Turtwig over more than 4 rocks. It was still a fun time though, good job!

You'd be surprised what some simple animations and sound effects can do for player retention. Given that it's not so different than some existing games, it lacks some polish. I think if you don't change anything else, you could make the jump a bit less floaty. There're videos on this ad GDC talks if you're interested in the math behind it. I quite like the aesthetics though!

Great aesthetic

I liked how their were coins that you wanted to collected in addition to the bushes to avoid

Music and sfx would've been nice

Very simple concept, plays fine but interest drops rapidly…

The ground really needs to animate to look like it's moving...

You can add mouse control to the game.

Submitted

Should really have sound I think, but turtle was capin bruv as the kiddos say.

Simple and nice game! :) The turtle sprite is cute.

Lovely and cute dino!

I see that Turtwig. You can't fool me! That's just a Turtwig without the sprout on its head.

It's a cute game. Could use more polish with some animations and sound, but not bad!

Submitted

Nice. I would recommend adding an animation or something else to the coins to let you know you're able to collect them. I kept jumping over them until I accidentally got one and didn't die.
