nice game I really like the design, and fun game  , just the control  hard to play with,

Very charming game! Really like the look of the game, very pleasant color palette.

I do feel like - and this might just be me - that the difficulty of the second level is already fairly high - took me a try at the final jump to realize I had to use the enemy, and quite a few more to get the enemy to be colored at just the right spot.

I also struggled a decent amount with the control of the numbers - it didn't seem like the numpad worked, so I used the numbers at the top row of the keyboard, meaning I had to do both movement and the numbers with one hand.

I do think the idea of using the numbers is a cool concept, I'm assuming it was inspired by those color-by-number coloring pages? The design of Kat is also adorable - the game just has a cutesy aesthetic to it in general, which is very nice!

It was inspired by color by number pages thank you for noticing! I forgot about the num pad while making this because my own computer doesn't have one, I'll make sure to add it for next time!

Submitted

Interesting concept.

Just hard to control, use numberpad to change color is unconfortable.

And I don't know what is the color of each number, that make me lost :/

Developer

You don't need to know the color for each number just press the same number on the keyboard as the tile (except for num pad that hasn't been implemented yet)

This game was very clever and used the limitation excellently! However, it made it pretty difficult for me to play, haha. The art is stunning.

Submitted(+1)

really enjoy the game the art is really polished :D

Submitted(+1)

Well, it definitely has the best name I've seen. the concept is fun, although it lacks a bit of polish, the hitboxes felt odd, and a dying animation would add a lot. Good game!

Submitted

The concept has a lot of potential! The only problem is the hitboxes can be a bit janky (like when the tiles are painted or when I suddendly get stuck), but overall, very nice work! :)

It has a lot of interesting things... Although it lacks polishing, it was kind of fun to play.

But I would prefer to have a fixed color associated with a number and don't die by walking through the same color... Also dying by bumping the head is not cool.

Developer(+1)

I wish I thought of adding color association before the jam, I think I'll add it to the game after the jam. I wish I realized how hard the levels really got with head bumps beforehand too.

I'll Third Thinker's comment - This was a great concept but could use polishing. I love the main character's art!

By the way, I think we used the same pastel pride flag color palette lol

Developer

oh yeah pastel pride colors are the best!

Submitted

I like the game art and soundFX. They blend together really well.

Was just reading the thoughtful feedback of Thinker right below my comment - don't have to add anything more to that.

All in all - nice, carefully crafted game. Good job!

Very interesting concept! And  the rainbow boots are so cute! I got to the ending of the game, here's my feedback:

  • This is a very cool concept to play with, as a puzzle platformer. The movement and inconsistent visual feedback was sometimes frustrating, though.
  • The "getting on top of enemies to reach platforms" thing was interesting as well, but it could be more tutorialized.
  • Pressing numbers to reach platforms was really creative. I think a visual indicator of what number was last pressed (or is currently active) would be great.
  • I think the game could be more zoomed out (or allow the player to lookaround) to avoid deaths where you couldn't possibly know what to do next. One example is the level where you fall on top of a "2" after passing a long "3" corridor. Other example would be the enemy that you have to freeze in order to reach the "4440" platform at the end of the level.
  • Knocking your head under platforms should not kill you, I think, because it seems a bit unfair.
  • There's a lot on the positive side, as well. I like that there's a very visual tutorial at the beginning of the game. It was very easy to understand what was happening and start playing.
  • The animation of the enemies and the effect that happens when you jump on top of them is great. So is the design of the main character.

Also, it fits the limitation pretty well. Nice puzzle platformer, good job!

Nice concept and cute art!

I sometimes got stuck when moving from one square to the next, probably some collision thing. And the final jump in lvl 2 is pretty far... Was fun nevertheless!

Cool concept with some charming presentation :)

It’s a little twitchy and sudden restart on death is a bit jarring; but there’s only so much time for polish on a jam game and I had fun :D

Submitted

this game is cute and fun! i’m not sure what’s going on with the paint, but sometimes it appears as soon as you step on the square, and sometimes it appears only after stepping/jumping off — and the deaths seemed equally inconsistent. There were definitely some levels i shouldn’t have completed on the attempt i completed them, because i for sure stepped on some paint

Developer(+1)

Oh yeah, I really struggled with implementing the paint system. In the game, there's a 2 second waiting period before the paint can kill you after the player walks off the tile. If I continue development on the game I'll make sure to fix it.

Submitted

Good game! I like the concept  but the movement is really frustrating. If you change it would be great.

Submitted(+1)

Interesting concept! I ended up jumping and my head hitting the platform, and then restarting the level, which was quiet annoying ... But other then that, good work, cool concept.. Would have liked my num pad to have worked though.

Developer

Sorry,  I forgot about num pads if I do any more work on the game I'll make sure to add it.

I love the character art and the concept!

Is there a reason why stepping on the paint kills? Like is it toxic paint?

Great job!

Developer(+1)

the main reason is that I came up with the game idea before the limitation and was too stubborn to change it! But toxic paint sounds like a better explanation.

Submitted

Big fan of the honesty, we'll just pretend it's toxic paint! All that lead paint had to go somewhere hey? Haha!

Submitted(+1)

This was a really fun game, however the movement was a bit infuriating, it kind of slides along the tiles, you should really make the movement less frustrating, but other then that, this game was amazing!

Submitted(+1)

I really like the concept and art, however feel as though the last level before getting booted back to the start came off a little frustrating at times, as you don't know if when you fall you'll get hit immediately. I really do like this concept though and I think with a bit more polish, it could unfold into something even greater, good work :)
