This is SO good! I don't know why the coloured goop on the black and white level makes my brain so happy but it does!

Super satisfying animations, especially for the main character, but also for the way to colours 'grow' on the level.

As I'm sure you know, big fan of the mental health themes being used. Works perfectly for the limitation.

The polish and juice is fantastic!

Great game and use of the theme! All the details from the intro to the character animation to the color wheel are suuper polished... Good work.

I found the second level quite difficult due to the fast moving enemies. If you add more levels, maybe you can ramp the difficulty level a bit more slowly.

oh, short, just two levels. it’s definitely good! wish it were a twin-stick though, this control scheme is impossible

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Yeah, I'm progressively trying to increase the amount of content I make for jam games, I focus so much time on the core mechanics that I always end up having a short time to work on levels.

Regarding the control scheme, after a few game jams I've came to the conclusion that it's very very difficult to please everyone haha. Some people are more used to WASD, others prefer Arrow Keys, some like to jump using W/Up-Arrow, others would rather press space, others would rather use the mouse buttons for that, or even Shift. I've seen some games use mouse as aim before and I went with that because I know most people play jam games with Keyboard & Mouse instead of a controller. I try to appease to a lot of different control preferences, and I usually include basic controller support, but in this case it was scrapped because I was running out of time and my first goal out of this jam was to make something I liked within the alloted time, without having to resort to late submissions. I'm sorry the controls were impossible to you, and I thank you for the candor! (or candidness? english is hard haha)

Awesome narrative, use of theme and limitation.

Nice job, has a really cool visual style and presentation.

The movement can feel a bit stiff, which makes it hard to avoid enemies. Although the animations were nice to jumping / spinning in air.

There is also a bit of jank to the weapons, like being against a wall a shooting will just cause the projectile to break immediately. I also think that the red projectile was meant to bounce, but it only ever did so seemingly randomly.

The Red projectile was clearly the strongest, I think there could be some more balancing with the weapons to make them all equal. Maybe try to make them all make the player play differently.

Like the red one bounces, but maybe does more damage if it bounces first, which reflects its characteristic of Focus. Green being hope, could maybe buff the player in some way, maybe standing on top of the green color would make the player shoot their weapons faster. The Blue for peace could maybe have the projectiles stay out longer, and make the barrier between the projectiles that stop enemies from moving. Just random thoughts.

Cool Game!

Developer

Hey, thank you so much for playing and for the very detailed feedback!

Oh, there is definitely some jank to the weapons haha. I've noticed some bugs with the physics/collisions but realized I wouldn't have the time to fix them, the bounce being the most obvious one. Extra effects for the weapons would have been so interesting! I thought about it but the clock was ticking and I still had to design the levels and waves/spawns and everything, phew haha.

I really like your ideas, especially the green buff and the blue barrier. Thanks!

This is really cool and nice! The art is amazing and the limitation use is great! I really like it (despite not being able to get past level 1...)

Amazing job! This is a really great jam game. I especially love the animations on the player character.

Submitted(+1)

Really nice and polished game. I'm surprised you could come up with a whole little narrative next to making all the assets and code, and all that on no cookies! Really impressive job!

Submitted(+1)

The amount of polish you've put on this game is exceptional. Love the variety in the weapons, the animations, and the small details like enemies flashing only when hit with the right color to let the player know they're on target. The little rotation animation when changing colors is great too. Just goes to show you don't have to do 3D or 64x64 pixel art with a huge palette to make a beautiful game!

Thank you so much for the kind words, and for playing the game! I really appreciate it!

Hello! This game is great. I couldn't beat anxiety omg.

It's hard to avoid ghosts and I found that the weapons aren't balanced between them.

Except that I loved the SFX, music, art and narrative side.

Great job, keep doing games.

Developer(+1)

"I couldn't beat anxiety" story of my life lol

Jokes aside, thank you for playing my game! I tried to make each weapon unique but I was afraid of not having enough time to make the levels, and they ended up being not balanced at all haha, but it's interesting seeing people using one more than the other. Ty for the kind words!

This was fun! I really like the music :))

Developer

Thanks, I'm glad to hear that!

I'm no professional musician but I love making music and I'm always happy to see that people are enjoying it.

Very fun, lots going on in this little game. I really like the art style.
