I really liked this game, it is very well explained and the difficulty goes up correctly, although I discovered that the ghosts do not follow you if you are in destroyed walls but very good game

Nicely polished with some very fun mechanics.  Destroying walls and blowing up barrels are especially satisfying.

I liked the art style and the music! Game had a lot of personality.

The music was fun and the sound effects were cool for the most part. I just disliked the walking sound, it seemed a bit annoying, like food being chewed. The shotgun and explosions were rad!

The map was nice, the sprites for the characters and ghosts were pretty. I got some issues with some text being cropped at the left most of the screen, but perhaps it was some WebGL issues, no biggie.

I managed to get to the Finale, although I gave up trying due to some issues with the collisions. Many times I wouldn't be able to enter a corridor even though the character was pretty much aligned. Being blocked made me panic and then I'd run out of time to escape the ghosts. Sometimes the ghosts seemed to not die with a shot, not sure if that was on purpose or if there was some collision glitch. I happened to not die by touching a ghost once when I was having trouble entering a corridor and the ghost seemed to have some glitch too.

Some minor issues I found were that even if you win, the ghosts keep on moving and the character can still die. There were some odd situations in which the character died going upwards and didn't trigger the death animation with the hat falling, or when he died and the ghosts simply went on moving out of the maze/dungeon.

Really neat game you got there, congratulations!

Hey thank you for your thoughtful review. I’m aware of the issues with collisions, I tried to adjust the colliders and even turn them into rounds, but the physics engine is a bit limited. Anyway, you know, it’s just a weekend jam and I didn’t have time to improve it much. Probably I should program moves based on the tiles and not with real body movement. About the ghosts not dying, sometimes there are more than one ghost getting the same spot because they move programmatically. Another “glitch” that I could easily fix is that ghosts are not aware of the new holes created by the user. But I left it there because that gives strategic advantage for the finale. There are issues but well, it’s playable imho. For me it’s more important to show the concept. I was about to leave this jam but I thought about the shotgun opening ways and that changed my mind because it adds something to a classic pacman. Thanks again!

I like the style of this game, and the sound effects make the game a whole lot better as well!

Nice game. I like how you start with no bullets and have to run around the stage to find them.

Cool idea with mostly solid execution and coherent presentation. I had trouble getting stuck on walls a lot, especially on the final level. Would also have been nice to see more of the map or have some indication of where the ghosts and remaining gold was. But I'm just nit-picking. I had a great time playing.

Had a lot of fun! The tutorial was easy to get into and the "real game" was such a good evolution from the tutorial that I wanted to keep playing. 10/10 imo

I really love the retro style of the game, the art is really awesome! And the way you introduce the game with the tutorial is really nice! Just a couple of things about the collider of the player and the wall, it can be stuck quite easy! Hope this will be fixed in the future soon. Overall, I had a really great experience with the game! Good work

Hey thanks for trying it and for the review! As I said below, I had those issues in mind but not enough time to solve every detail in a short jam like this.

Interestimg spin on pacman, great visual style.

I think it would be better if:

  • Ghosts were visible for a few seconds before spawning, so it would not frustrate the player
  • Colliders of walls were rounded and the pathways were wider, so the player would not get stuck trying to change direction

Nice game!

I totally agree with your points, but hey, it’s a weekend jam and I didn’t have enough time for everything (I had a big list of several details). Thanks for playing it!

I could see myself putting a few hours into this if the controls were tightened. Cute concept.

Pretty fun, but the movement is very icy and unresponsive, the explosive barrels were also the most fun part and they were used way too little in my opinion and it has differently sized pixels...

Neat game, the player's move speed is a bit low though and it seems like if you're holding two move directions at once then let go of one, it'll continue to move you as if you're still holding both.

Really cool game! I really liked the idea(it reminded me of pac man for some reason) the movement felt a bit janky but otherwise really good game! And hey Pello again :)

The game is not bad at all, though a ghost spawned on me once and the ghost's hitboxes seemed a bit too large. You got a laugh out of me with the yeehaw
