Wow... just wow.

Okay... So first off I didn't think much about the game, simple platformer, collect carrots. Cute!

Then I realized oh some of these people want the carrots, or you can trade them for an upgrade.

As I realized I could keep swapping at least one carrot out for a heart before the inevitable death I truly fell in love with the need of achieving everything before I could finally rest and move on, I had a lot to do and sometimes I would have to sacrifice a run in order to achieve something else.

The music slowed down the longer I prolonged my death, each time becoming gloomier and gloomier, the weight and burden of each attempt felt great each time only hoping to complete the run this time, this time I will do it!

The story subliminally and subconsciously told to me whilst playing your game is something that may not come to someone initially but when you fully enjoy it for what it is, it's a bloody masterpiece. The visual was cute, the music was peaceful, and had a clever twist to it.

I think this is an amazing submission, great job! I expect to see this pretty high; with that said here are my ratings for you :)

The way the theme gets slower and more creepy each time you start over, the idea with collecting carrots to get hearts while also having limited inventory space for both and the realisation of what is actually going on here - Love it! I managed to 100% this game and my only real complaint is the shotgun. I got all of the carrots without it since it was easier to do without the speed boost and that choice of either defending yourself with a weapon or having slower speed to time your jumps better is a great design choice intentional or not, but there was that one carrot near a death pit that requires you to double jump. You can't get it with the shotgun unless you time your jump perfectly because the speed boost makes you go over it. I was also a bit confused as to what to do at first but I think it was more of a me problem rather than the game teaching its mechanics poorly. Anyway those are just nitpicks, fantastic game!

Managing 100% and noticing all the story elements is actually pretty impressive as I've intentionally made it hard. I think game mechanics weren't taught that well, since a lot of people say they didn't get it at first. A lesson I will take to the next game. Thanks for the feedback!

I don't understand at first, but I love the game ı try a bit more. I still can't collect them all, but ı will collect them all :D

This is such a cool concept!! Wonderful work, I really enjoyed the aesthetic and the gameplay was really neat! The only suggestion I would have is to either use the arrow key/w to jump, or use a different icon (a mouse pointer maybe?) to indicate that you should jump, cuz I run right off the cliff several times before trying my mouse.

An adorable game with a neat concept! After many deaths, I realize that I was meant to die and start over so I can take a different path to collect everything. However, this was not properly explained at all. I even missed the first powerup when I first played it and was wondering why I couldn’t double jump when the two arrows showed up. This was because I actually had to jump to get it. It could use some better indicators and storytelling.

With that said, I enjoyed the game and can see some potential in it. The carrot exchange for heart at the end of the level is a great design choice. Finally, the change of music pitch and speed is a nice touch to kind of indicate progress. Good job!

thx for the feedback, really appreciate it. You were actually meant to fail to get first powerup because it costs 2 carrots and the second carrot is futhurer than the powerup. It was meant to be a tutorial on backtracking and on that you can lose hearts. Otherwise I'll try to explain mechanics more properly next time.

Very good game! Nice graphics and relaxing music!

I like how you actually carry hearts and carrots and the bonus items are nice!

Great job!

I would appreciate it if you played and maybe rated my entry:)

very interesting concept. I think I agree with the others - its just I wasn't sure exactly how it worked for a little while there, so maybe it would have just been a case of showing quickly how it worked via the first item collection or something. In any case - really nice work, cool idea and fun game. Cute atmosphere too. Well done!

Good art and calm gameplay.

I had some issues at the start regarding controls and how the game actually worked, but after that the game showed to be really enjoyable, nice work!

It was a cool experience, but I never managed to collect all the items on the level, I always got caught by the maggot ( In general, I would look at a full-fledged game in this style and with such mechanics!

I enjoed playing your game, but I would probably put the first powerup on the ground level to make it dead-obvious that you have to die to progress. And maybe make the powerups wiggle up and down because I didn't even notice them the first few runs. Also the worms later in the game that are on narrower platforms are somewhat frustrating because I guess the assumption is that in any other platformer you can time your jump, but here you don't control your horizontal speed, which is not bad, it just doesn't work very well with this bit of level design.

Edit: despite the above, that's the best game I've played so far.

I really liked the game once I figured out:

1. You don't have to be on the ground to jump

2. You need to "die" at certain times to progress

3. You can only hold 3 things

Those weren't immediately obvious to me and were a bit frustrating at first.

Other than that, great concept, great pixel art and I really had fun with the game!
