That was great! Neat puzzles, really surprised I haven't seen something use this idea before. And great job building on the concept by introducing different units! Really impressive!
Interesting puzzles! I did have some problems getting the game to work cause it showed the starting page weird, like only a quarter of the game and I couldn't read which key to press to start the game, so I just bashed some keys and then it started luckily and the screen was ok again. Besides that just a little trouble understanding the mechanics (only swapping in a straight line and not understanding why I couldn't move in a certain area when it went red, maybe I'm a bit slow today hehe), but when I got used to it, I really like the simplicity of it but still fun and challenging puzzles!
Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback!
I think it has to do with some monitors not showing text properly because of lighting, in a later version I'll make sure to make the text stand out better regardless. I'm also planning on adding some more visuals regarding the swapping mechanic so it's clearer. :)
This is great. Cute, fun puzzles with a clever design. Quite possibly the best puzzle entry I've played this jam.
When I ran it the first time there was something wrong with the controls. I could move with the arrow keys but AWSD did nothing. The arrow keys behaved differently too, they respected key repeats so I would continue moving if I held the key down. I almost gave up and assumed the game was just hopelessly broken until I read the comments and it was clear that it worked for other people. Reloading the tab fixed the issues and the controls worked as expected for the rest of my playthrough. I'm running it in Firefox.
Interesting! Sadly I didn't have time to test it much as i was running out of time, so there might be some bugs playing on certain browsers.
Thank you for playing, I'll see if there's anything I can do to fix those problems!
Some good thought went into these puzzles! Great work! :)
Good idea for a puzzle game. I had fun playing it! Nicely done! :)
Really good puzzle game, the level design has really had some thought put into it and the game plays really well. To improve, I would suggest some extra SFX for moving (although it does well without to be fair) and a nice indicator so show which animal is selected. Also, I had to press WASD a few times on occasion to switch animals, presumably a bug?
Good job!
Thank you!
That swapping sometimes doesn't work is indeed a minor bug. I'll probably redo the entire movement system later and I agree with all your feedback and if I'm gonna expand on the game I will improve on all those points!
Honestly I thought this game was amazing. The music endeared me to it immediately and then the puzzles were really well thought out and a good level of challenge. The character switching was a really nice mechanic, especially when the creatures all have different abilities. The only issue was that it took me a little while to understand that the creatures have to be lined up to switch (I know the message says this but I didn't get it first time round). Awesome work, great game!
Really awesome concept for the puzzles, and the levels were all thinkers. Awesome work, I really enjoyed this simple puzzle game!
I like the Farmer Wolf Goat aspect to the dog.
Haha that is also the main inspiration I used for this game.
Good game with easy to understand mechanics
Good funny game!
I really loved the mechanics.
A fun game with very interesting puzzle design. This is a good starting point to do a full game with :-)
Fun puzzle game man^^
never seen this concept before (character switch). Was surprised when i saw this.
cool to have different abilities for each characters too.
In my opinion having a small grid inside of the dog would make it easier to see the dead zone. (lost smt cause forgot to check the borders of dog's area.
Great game!
I was wondering how visible it was, it might change per monitor too but you definitely make a good point because I don't want it to be unclear for anyone!
I'll try to think of a nice way to add visibility, thanks for your feedback!
Such a nice idea! I would add some camera smoothing when you swap creatures; it feels a little too abrupt.
Yeah I totally agree! Think the game can totally be a bit more smooth and if I'm gonna work on it later it'll definitely be one of the first things I change. Thanks for your feedback!
This is the best puzzle I have seen (of submited to this jam) so far.
I can recomend you to do only two things. Lower volume of death sound a bit and make more levels! :)
Thanks a lot for the nice comments so far!
I wish I had more time to develop some more complex levels and if there's enough interest I'll probably work on a expanded version later.
Well I guess that's what jams are for! I loved the game, seems like something you could make big, keep at it! :D
Great mechanic and lovely characters. Puzzles weren't too challenging so made for a fun casual play
I had rated 5 stars on engagement before, but after playing this, i think i must change those ratings. I LOVED this game, easily my #1 up until now. I think that it's simplicity is what makes it great.
Great job, and i'd love to see more puzzles added later with time!
I'm a sucker for puzzle games so I had a lot of fun with these! Creative mechanics and they make sense thematically too!
