I really liked the game, it is fun. For me, its strongest point was the music, although the graphics and gameplay are also very good. It very well represents that NES aesthetic.

Nostalgia overload! Reminds me of TigerHeli which is a game I was obsessed with as a kid. Spot on sfx and music, too. Really nice entry.

The music in this is fantastic! This certainly feels like it could be on the NES.

Cool game! Not a genre I go for usually, but remained fun throughout, difficulty never felt unfair or too much to overcome, just the right amount for a quick engaging playthrough.
I did get blasted pretty hard on stage one, because I assumed the sprites would scroll off screen after a while like in a lot of shmups, and then they all started stacking up on me. Lesson learned, haha!
Some of my jam mates played this yesterday, so I couldn't help but see what happens if you don't catch her.
(sorry, if was for science!) and yeah... fair enough
(Worth noting that upon trying to continue or putting in the password for the level after the fact, it immediately brought me to that same screen. Unsure if intended as a punishment, but I assume not)

Graphically it's really nice! A bit hard to see some sprites though, as a previous commenter mentioned.
For me, the constant usage of two layer parallax did take away a bit of the NES feel, felt more like a game made near the end of the NES' life, and was ported to SNES partway through development.
I love parallax though, and it looks great for it, that's for sure.

Oh no! It looks like it's a bug, The princess death flag wasn't cleared if she's dropped. Thanks for letting us know!

I caught Aruna.

The game is very fun. The backgrounds look super good, the soundtrack is great and the bullet hell part is very well made, it controls perfectly with the right difficulty and quite some cool different bullet patterns to dodge. Finally it totally feels like a NES game.

I had to restart to be sure I never died and your score indeed gets back to 0 after each level which is a bit confusing.

Wasn't expecting a bullet hell on the list, but you certainly nailed the aesthetic, and the difficulty is just right :)

Wow this is so well made! Very fun bullet-hell, and great music!

Holy moly, I am blown away. The gameplay felt fantastic, the graphics were fantastic, the soundtrack was fantastic, the game was challenging but not to the point of being unfun, what a fun time, seriously amazing work!

I had to play the first level a lot to get familiar with this kind of game, but after doing that it got far easier. The effort really shines into the game wonderfully in all aspects, props to all of you. Great job! 5/5 in everything!

A brilliantly made short "space shooter" game with great bullet patterns, a banging soundtrack, awesome sprite work and a perfect difficulty (an original NES game would likely frustrate the player with one-hit kills and no bombs, but their inclusion here makes the game very friendly to those not comfortable with this genre). For me, this is a 10/10 game, absolutely perfect in every way.

Congratulations to everyone on the team! The game is a lot of fun and had me hooked, in the last boss I was just like ecaroh, only 2 lives and a dream hahahaha Congratulations on the art and the soundtrack! Everything went very well together! I just found the fairies a bit hard to see on the map, but nothing too critical either

That was soooo fun!!

Took me a few tries on the first level, really nailed that NES difficulty on the first level! But tbh i didn't realize I had the magic burst ability until after I died a few times. Really interesting mechanic! It's not your typical full-screen bomb so you have to be really strategic with your timing. I really liked using it once I learned how!

After my first few Continues, I really focused in and was able to beat the game in one life. Dragon boss seemed to have a lot less health than the others. The final boss was tough!!! I was down to 2 heart and ran out of magic, and had to be super careful, that was really intense!!

This game totally nails the NES feel, and the MUSIC WAS INSANELY GOOD. Especially 1-1 was my favorite, but I loved how the vibe changed to fit each level's environment. Really great artwork and clever design choices that utilized palette and sprite swaps to create more content. I think that actually enhanced the NES feel, where asset size limitations would force the designers to leverage artwork into multiple uses if possible.

Only critiques I have are that a few things were a little hard to see. The hearts and magic drops would blend in a bit with the background, and same with the enemies in level 3, particularly the final boss. I would have liked a tiny bit more contrast to the butterfly enemies as well. Although... to be honest this kind of enhanced the NES feel too haha. I also loved the dialogue writing!

VERY GOOD JOB, this is the first game I've reviewed so it definitely sets the bar high!  Great title thumbnail as well - it drew me right in. Fun patterns, difficult and satisfying, charming graphics, amazing music tracks. Amazing rendition of an NES bullet hell.

Thank you soo much. As the artist i wished i personally had more time to make portraits and cutscenes but im happy that u like it and that the feeling of a NES was transported :)

Fellow Godot dev!

Dude, I'm so glad you were able to beat it! We put in an easy mode because we were scared the difficulty would put people off lol.

Yeah, we realized last minute that the fairies blended a bit too much with the map and clouds.

OMG, that was the easy mode? hahahahahaha

Developer(+1)

XD That was the normal mode.
There's a an additional easy mode option in the menu, but I think it's easy to miss.
