I'd say this felt very much like Mega Man, but I actually beat it so that can't be right x3
Had an absolute blast with this one.
Makes me feel like the whole jam was created just because you really wanted to make this game and didn't want to wait to do so, that's how much passion is on display here.
The gameplay is an absolute joy all the way through, very responsive, enemy and platform placement is a bit too friendly for it to feel like classic Mega Man, but I'm not complaining one bit.
The tiles are also very well done, with a lot of care to replicate the kind of style those games had.
Also points for the little arrows in the rightmost stage platforms, good pointer for navigating the player without being too in-your-face about it.
Enemies are well sprited and look distinctive with good variety, and the player movement is very fluid and responsive.
Powerup system is cool, I like how if you pick up a third you can use your powers to swap the orb around to your preferred combo. Mine was Yellow+Red, very handy.
Music was stellar and kept the momentum going all the way through.
I don't have any critiques really for this one, I just wanted it to be longer.
You could honestly take the quality of what's here already, make more of it and publish it imo. It's that solid.

The game is very well-made; the graphics and music are impressive, and the gameplay is very pleasant. The NES aesthetic is there, and the game in general is very good with very polished mechanics.
Love everything about this game. the vocal samples omg 🔥🔥the nostalgia is real, right down to the authentic ending text!
Absolutely nailed it. Felt like I was 9 years old again and playing Megaman on a Saturday morning :D So good!

I see it is heavily inspired by Shatterhand, from the title screen to the combinability of the power-ups, except with a more approachable difficulty. I wouldn't have minded it having a second loop 😉
Best pixel art I've seen yet in the jam. Pitch perfect sounds and NES feel!
What a great experience! It really feels like an old-school Nintendo game. The graphics are fantastic, the music and sound effects fit perfect, and the gameplay with all the upgrades and diferents enemys feels amazing. Congratulations! 10/10
This one is great. Reminds of a game "Darkwing Duck" that I've played a lot back in the day.
Actually played all of it. Nice mechanics and AMAZING soundtrack and sfx, cute graphics and most of all I had a lot of fun playing it.
Love the soundtrack and sfx, very catchy and groovy! The graphics are amazing and you totally nailed the style of the NES. and the bossfight was a cool surprise.
Junkyard is definitely the coolest stage imo, I'm impressed how many mechanics you fit into this game in such a short time. Great job!
Incredibly accurate recreation of the NES style game!! So many details to note! The artistic direction to the graphics and audio is just immaculate. I really enjoyed seeing all of the nods to the classics. Darkwing, megaman, and the ghosts n goblins ending haha.
Loved the upgrade mechanic. Conceptually very innovative and fresh! I wish I was able to explore more of the combinations if they existed. Getting the red + gold upgrade was awesome :)
Had a little bit of fun with my gameplay footage below — I started recording on level 1-2 but kinda wish I started recording at the start, because I actually had the most difficulty with the first level and died a few times on the jumping section with the moving track, but it was also the most challenging/rewarding level IMO.
AMAZING WORK!!This game was amazing! The gameplay was fun and the art and animations looked awesome- everything about it felt like a NES game (especially the instant death to falling). I really liked the music too. Congraturations!
