Description
Corsair’s Oath is the Main Theme of the OST and suggests a laidback and careless nature of the pirates combined with some serious firepower and force.

All Peg Legs on Deck: Intended to be more of a "Were back home after a raid and were partying" vibe.

Blood and Thunder: The combat, skirmish and conflict part of any good story.

A Rival’s Lament: Reflective and Bittersweet. Asking questions more than answering them.

I usually started with a piano sketch which i would then orchestrate once i liked the core idea. Trying to find the appropriate feeling while keeping story and its emotions in mind.

Inspiration: Sea of Thieves, League of Legends, Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag and every other pirate themed piece of media.

DAW: Cubase 13 Pro
9min 11sec Total Runtime.

YOHOHO AND A BOTTLE OF RUM, ROOKIE! IT'S TIME TO SET SAIL AND GO ROBBING THOSE DAMN ENGLISH BASTARDS!

You have made an incredibly cool soundtrack, made at a professional level! The sound is perfect for pirate themes and... YOHOHO . Cool dynamics, tool selection, processing, mixing... Do I need to say something? From the technical side (for me personally), everything is excellent! The sound is great and...

DAMN, THOSE DAMN BRITISH ARE PREPARING GUNS! GET YOUR CUTLASSES OUT IMMEDIATELY. LET'S KILL THESE BASTARDS WHO WANT TO SUPPRESS OUR FREEDOM!

COME ON, BROTHERS! FOR THE FREE SEA!!1!

Yarrrrr, this is quite a gem among the sea of submissions! (see what I did there? no? uhhhhhh)
A unique take on the theme and a high-quality one at that.

Submitted(+1)

Incredibly high quality and invokes a lot of imagery just from listening! Love the tone shifts, each one was done very well, good job!

The combination of high-quality music with a medieval style is truly breathtaking! It creates a unique and captivating atmosphere that is both enchanting and immersive.

Super creative and high quality! One thing I wish it had is a fast paced sea shanty kinda song. The closest it gets is with All Peg Legs on Deck but I think something shorter and faster would tie the whole OST together even better!

Really great entry!

Also I aint paying nearly $200 for it its free on youtube (:

First pirate-themed ost. I can tell you have super solid foundations and aspire to have something sounding as good as you in the future! Great job!

Submitted(+1)

Very high quality pirate music! I like this interpretation of the theme too! I wish the music ran with the theme a bit more (i.e. music that evokes the conflict described above).

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind words and taking the time to listen and commenting!
Would you mind explaining what you mean by "ran with the theme"?
The emotions dont match the theme, is that it? i really wanna understand and improve.

Good question. I mean that "pirates struggling to adapt to a new world" has bounteous narrative potential. Some random ideas: pirates trying to fit in at a ball, pirates filling out paperwork for a job application, pirates in the future, pirates coming up against steamships--the point is that the idea you came up with is really clever and full of potential though the music felt like really solid pirate music for a conventional pirate game. That's not a knock on the compositions though!

Developer(+1)

That makes a lot of sense thanks for clarifying. Those are cool ideas for pirate games. :)
Youre right, theres a lot more to explore beyond the conventional, sonically and harmonically. Its also what im unhappiest about but oh well a finished product is better than a perfect one.

Arrrrrr this be plunderin my scallywags or something

Awesome submission!

This is some professional level OST here! It's very pleasant to listen to, and I would have believe if this actually came straight from the games you've aspired to. But that's also a bit of a downside because it doesn't try anything new too, like it misses the opportunity to have more identity by sticking too safely to the source material. But still, the pirate vibes are very high here so great job!

What I liked is that noboby I had listened to in this jam had yet explored the theme the way you did. Great job in the research of the idea! Every track works really well and I had pleasure all along! Would love to hear you work in Sea of Thieves!

(Reposting my Comment here as I had accidentally posted on the project page)

Had to check this one out, as apparently I am not the only one that made some pirate music! You explored it a bit more deeply than I did, basing the whole OST around the pirate theme, finding different emotions within that framework. You capture that ren faire, pirates of the carribbean vibe very well.

I must admit that I had to figure out how my needle drop concept applied to the theme at first,so I am curious how the pirate theme correlates to the "Inside my World" prompt for your project!

Corsair's Oath: This is quality! I love pirate themed tracks. Love the Phrygian that sneaks in towards the end.

All Peg Legs on Deck: I can envision pirates drinking and celebrating victory to this. Could hear lyrics going over this.

Blood and Thunder: Love this tough battle theme. Gives me strategy game vibes. Great percussion.

A Rival's Lament: An emotional conclusion. Nice strings.

Great work!

Awesome vibe, great atmospehere absolutely nailed your description. First track is great, the mix the composition we can really feel it. The more I went for the other tracks the more it sounded "far away" and lost little by little the magic of the first track, I think with the same energy as first track in terms of mix the other tracks would BANG ! Good job !

I love that you recorded your screen it's so cool seeing the timeline and work that went into making the submission! The music is also great, you did a really good job of doing the pirate aesthetic. The percussion is great and makes me happy

Great work! I'd pick a favorite but I think I like them all equally, this is so good!

yarrrrr

Definitely lives up to the pirate theme. Corsair's oath is a great opener and all pegs on deck also lives up to the name. Blood and thunder starts to make things interesting, could use a bit more escalation maybe, but still a great track. A Rival's Lament takes a more dramatic turn, to round things up.

I think the tracks could use a little more intensity, as they're pirates after all. But other than that, very well fitting tracks! Good job!

I need to lose my arm to an alligator or something now for a hook. I want to be a pirate, and my crew will ONLY bump this on our brigantine.

Incredible submission, you nailed this.

I love anything pirate themed, and I will sail the seas with you comrade! You did great on making such a cinematic pirate soundtrack. My personal favorite would be All Peg Legs on Deck. It's a straight BOP. Great use of celtic instruments and sea-town rhythms and patterns.

Submitted(+1)

awesome job!! I like that you stuck to a congruent theme and varied on it throughout the different songs. I will say I didn't see or hear it's correlation to the theme- but that could just be becausee I had a pretty different vision for what the theme portrayed. Altogether, this was a really fun thing to listen to!!!

(I wrote these live as I listened!) (Also.. I might be a little biased as I have a *VERY* particular interest in pirates.)

Corsair's Oath - What a sick intro. Quite the soundscape here. I can see the pirates now, boarding the ship.. It's chill yet very grand.

All Peg Legs On Deck - Now the pace is picking up! I can really feel this one.

Blood And Thunder - There's the drama I like to hear in a pirate soundtrack. Big and ominous! This is where I imagine some battle occurs.. or even an epic Kraken clash >:D

A Rival's Lament - So beautiful. Your description does it better than I could :D

Overall, it's all highly professional. Beautiful composition.

the vibes here are so good!! love all your orchestral layering, and the flute sounds are A+.  my favorite track is probably A Rival's Lament. super expressive and beautiful.  plucked strings sound incredible too, awesome writing and work throughout!! congrats on a great ost, would play this game for sure
