Game Synopsis:

"CHROMATICA" is a an imaginary, anime-inspired action RPG set in a distant future where technological advances have allowed humans to preserve their consciousnesses after death in digital form. Stored in a central computer known as "MONARK", elite groups of humans known as "divers" regularly attempt infiltration of its consciousness data by uploading themselves to the network, for everything from espionage to entertainment to digital murder. Each digital brain has its own unique biome and methods of fighting back invaders, as determined by its owners personalities and interests. Yula, an artist-turned diver, is a member of the clandestine Unit 327 - but when a mission goes wrong and her unit betrays her, Yula is left to fend for herself and escape from the deepest recesses of MONARK on her own. But there's just one problem for those looking to pick on her - her mind is very, very colorful.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Track 1: CHROMA FINALIS - After Kallan's sacrifice, Yula manages to escape from the seventh sector and confront her betrayers. As they begin an assault on Yula's mind, she calls upon every brush stroke, elation, sorrow, and frenetic thought about the universe she's ever had to exact her triumphant, colorful revenge.

(I didn't have the full time for this jam so unfortunately there's only one track in this submission)

Message from the artist
Hi all! Emileiion here - though I actually go by EmilTwo on my other socials now (though I might change this name again soon hah). I'm a game dev based in NYC with a deep love for music, especially soundtrack things. In terms of my music background, I'm a violinist by trade and also play a bit of piano. Some of my favorite games/media include Nier, soulsbourne, and eva. For this jam I was pretty short on time given my other obligations (family vacation), so unfortunately I was only able to finish a single track. I'd definitely liked to have added some softer more lyrical stuff if time allowed, but in any case, I sort of just felt a wonky artcore/orchestral type mix for some reason and put that stream of consciousness to paper. Hope you all enjoy!

I used FL Studio 21 for this project - violin parts live recorded by myself, all other instruments sampled/synths.

Theme

Inside my world

How does it fit the theme?
For this track, the phrase "Inside my world" gave me a vision of something highly chaotic and colorful, like the inside of a very restless person's mind. I went towards making a track that had an almost frenetic/frantic energy, with many switchups, mood changes, and different instrumentations (see the description for more info/context).

Late, but this is GOOD! Such pleasant textures, great pianos, great violin. Great work!

Amazing stuff! Always love artcore-style BGMs, the mix of rhythmic energy and melodic elements is fantastic! I'm thinking of making something like this soon, but do you have any advice for a newbie trying to make their first artcore piece (such as recommended tutorials or first steps to take when composing in this genre)?

Great energy in this track!! I really had the feeling that I was entering an adventure! I really liked the strings in the end :D

Undoubtedly the most chaotically AWESOME OST I've heard this jam. The percussion compliments the amazing music so well. This is genuinely the stuff I listen to, kind of reminds me of Sakuzyo's music.

A-MA-ZING. Thanks for sharing this masterpiece x)

Oh... okay. Well this is insane. This is like full on anime battle of the century going on, the composition is stunning, the mix is rich and full, so much is going on but you never lose track of whats happening. Fantastic Work. My piano hands hurts just thinking how to interpret this (I don,t think its possible). Wonderful job.

God damn that piano... the violin solo... this is actually incredible, the energy and composition is insane! Almost gives me Muse Dash rainy night stage vibes combined with Nier? Anyways this is amazing, the violin is such an incredible addition and makes me wish I knew string players as good as you, this is great!

Thank you so much for sharing!

Holy shit! This thing is incredible, your blend of electronic and traditional instruments is absolutely wild, and the whole thing feels so intensely chaotic while at the same time glued together, I've never heard anything quite like. How you can envision something like this and make it reality is insane to me, and it is just so good.

VERY nice work! This is EASILY in my top 5 of the whole jam.

Absolutely frantic in the best way possible - so much happening but it works so well. Love the piano playing throughout - feels like it is running away with itself, weaving in and out of orchestral swells and synth lines. Speaking of - the choice of synth voicings and patches here is really cool, and the orchestration is absolutely massive. Arranged to perfection. The live violin is really sick - having the accompaniment drop to the minimum to emphasize the lead line was genius here.

Probably one of, if not the most, professional mixes I've heard. Produced obscenely well, great selection of instruments and a full mix. I know your write-up addresses this as an ARPG, but I could easily see this being used in various fighting games as well as a climactic final stage - Tekken came to mind in particular for me personally, and I absolutely adore their soundtracks so I mean that as high praise! Stellar work.

Thank you! this is really kind of you haha. Also honestly tekken isn't a stretch here, I was actually listening to the Tekken 8 OST a lot before I made this so some influence definitely slipped in at parts. In any case though glad you enjoyed!

Hey... what else can I say here...

it was F**KING AWESOME. Incredible work with all sides of the music, which gives a fantastic result! I literally sat all these three and a half minutes without moving, holding my breath a little. That's great!

Thanks for the incredibly beautiful track. I REALLY LIKED IT!

Developer

The violin is so crisp and clean! If you hadn't said it was you playing I would have assumed it was a computer from how flawless it sounds!

I know I already commented, but I just keep listening to it and having my freaking mind blown! What a masterpiece! I so want to play a bullet-hell with this!! - maybe we should work on one ;)

I had to come back to this one and comment again cause I think this is my favorite tune of the jam yet, extremely clean, I love it so much! I'm wondering what genre it would classify in, is that what we call "breakcore"?

Developer(+1)

i think artcore is probably the closest genre? glad you like it!

Submitted(+1)

ahaha we absolutely did the same, I keep coming back to this one, one of the top picks of the jam EASILY!!
