Description
The overall soundtrack is supposed to represent a first-person parkour game where you traverse a massive cavern that was once inhabited by your ancestors though it has since been forgotten by the rest of the world. It is your goal to reconnect with your oldest ancestor, and eventually join them by the end of the game.

TRACK ONE - Upon Descent
This track is the title theme of the whole game and is meant to show the journey ahead of you, like most other games.

TRACK TWO - Amidst the Grand Rubble
This track is for when you meet your long dead ancestor's ghost. This is who instructs you to explore the expanse of the caverns and the structures that lay across it, though there is something off about his intent.

TRACK THREE - Requiem of the Subterrain
This track is the one that I put the most effort into. I tried very hard to capture the journey you are heading on, and the generational trauma of what may have happened to it; an evil that has since been vanquished. All that remains is you.

TRACK FOUR - Grand Ascent
The true intentions have been revealed, now you are to ascend and join the rest of your kind. You have to put your trust into the ones who came before you, to guide you down the paved road, to finally be at peace. The end.

To compose every track, I used FL Studio 21 to arrange everything, and used several soundfonts that I can provide if asked, along with some samples I found online that I can also provide. My inspiration is mainly from games like Chrono Trigger, Rain World, and The Legend of Zelda.

AAH, A CUTE DINOSAUR ON COVER ART!!1!

Overall, a beautiful soundtrack) I like the "howling" of the crowd in the last track, heh

Thanks!

Developer

thank you! i never thought i'd see this many ratings on this submission and it makes me so happy!

thank you for adding a second page to the comments here, it means so much. you also had one of my favorite submissions of the entire jam, so this means triple. good job on yours!

Really unique submission! These tracks convey the atmosphere of the game very well and i love the different instruments you used. I can definitely hear the inspirations you took from Rain World!

Submitted

You've created your world through your sound, I was really pleased to discover your work!

Very regal and enjoyable submission, I definitely saw the inspirations you took, especially from some of the earlier legend of zelda music i have heard! I think your  arrangement skills are really good, all the different ways you used the different instruments was a huge part of what made this captivating to me

Love track two and three so much! They are perfectly not overloaded with details and serve exactly their purpose, to create a dark moody atmosphere and to keep you in it through the game! Great job!

Really nice submission! All of the tracks are very well composed and structured, and have a great dark atmosphere. There are some really good melodies in there, it's a shame that there are a few times where they are drowned out a bit by the rest of the instruments. Maybe if you transposed the lead instruments up an octave they might be able to shine through more easily.

I love Great Ascent, you said that Chrono Trigger is one of your influences and it shows in this song - the piano and tubular bells combined with the droning choir and strings gives it an excellent grandiose feeling.

Great job overall!

thank you so much! that was a common complaint about the drowned out instruments when i was doing quality assurance, especially the piano in the third track. i really liked your submission, it was really well done!

WOW, every single track is so well made and everything sounds so good! I especially liked the second one, that sax bro. Amazing job!!

This is -exactly- in line and right down the middle of the jam requirements, it has the grand sweep of what I did for my own but without the chaos of my manual performance, it's more exactly got what separates production from just performing and submitting 'raw'.   Very disciplined and well built.  Excellent work folks.

Saxophone, no need to say more...

But still, really super solid submission, great quality and everything is pretty catchy!

Thank you for sharing!!

I love the heavy percussion in that fourth track. You did an awesome job!

The chimes in the last track reminded me of Terraria Calamity Mod Music.

Developer

i love calamity mod's music, thx!

Requiem of the Subterrain definitely my favorite with that mysterious vibe at the start and how evolve into something more powerful!!

That low-pitched sound and choir took me intermediately into a subterrain situation ☺

Well done!

Developer(+1)

thank you! that means a lot, since your music was some of my favorite from the jam so far!

loved track 3, good work man keep it up!

Developer

thank you! i spent most of my time making that one

yeah i trust this guy to make music

i am totally not biased even though he's made music for our games multiple times

I like the recurring oppressive energy in these tracks, it really feeds into the immersion of the character's journey. I particularly like how the third track sounds, it's very pretty. Love it!!

Third track is the highlight for me and I enjoyed the percussions in the later half of "Great Ascent" as well. Mixing feels a bit cluttered for the first two songs but that's a skill that'll come with time. Great job! 👍👍

Developer(+1)

thank you! i've never been amazing at mixing, but still thank you for telling me what i can improve on!

Really enjoyed the low drones that persist throughout the soundtrack. Loved the dissonant tones you use, which convey a strong sense of dread! The whole soundtrack is very consistent! Well done!!

Submitted

The entire soundtrack captures a sort of "sense of doom" feeling that I enjoyed a lot!!

Submitted

I love how epic and cinematic this sounds! You really captured the feeling of exploring a world full of mystery. My favorite track out of the bunch is definitely Track 3. I was reading the description for it while listening and it really matched every word you said! I also love the idea of this being a parkour game! Great work!

I liked the second track the best!
