!!!!!!! IMPORTANT !!!!!!!
THIS SOUNDTRACK IS AN INTERACTIVE PIECE OF ART AND IS BEST EXPERIENCED ON YOUTUBE SO MAKE SURE YOU WATCH IT THERE!
This soundtrack was made for OST Composing Jam Sandbox with the theme of Palindrome.
A few weeks before this jam began I had an Idea for what I wanted to do with my entry. I wanted to make a Choose your own adventure style music experience where what song you choose leads to the next songs until you reach the end.
Before the jam began my goal was to make 1 song lead into 2 songs into 4 songs into 4 ending songs that were all the same as each other but with elements of the previous song. This however did not pan out as the theme was palindrome and I had to switch things up.
In the end what I ended up doing is making an adventure that went 1-2-4-2-1 with the outer 3 songs mirroring each other to make the entire experience itself a palindrome.
There are 10 songs total and I highly encourage listening to them all. They are all under a minute long so it manages to fit under the recommended 10 minute limit.
Something to note is that the first and last song also have palidromic elements in that the melody has the same rhythm forewords and backwards.
The way this adventure is set up makes it possible to listen to the songs in reverse order and you will have the same experience as going in normal order but for simplicity the link sends to the first song since it reduces confusion.
Please tell me what path you end up taking your first time through since that's the fun part of a choose your own adventure.
Difficulty
Make something that has elements that can be listened to both backwards and forwards.

If this isn't the most creative submission then I don't know what is. The energetic path was my favorite, ESPECIALLY with how hard the banjo (?) intro hits.
Thank you so much!
I loved the banjo intro and the energetic path is definitely my favorite track. I used Ample Guitars Banjo for that and it worked super well!
I really enjoyed the concept of having a palindromic choose your own adventure. Was fun seeing a project implement features within YouTube to engage the listener. Very clever!
Thanks a ton!
Youtube was really the only place something like this would work. I thought about putting the songs on soundcloud too and just really encouraging listening on youtube but in the end I knew I had to only put it on youtube because it simply would not work elsewhere.
I'm impressed with the creativity and ambition! Well done! My favorite is the energetic path!
Thank you!
The energetic path is also my favorite! I just really enjoy fast songs that I can whistle to!
Very original and unique idea! It was really fun to explore each path.
My favorite track is the energetic circus!
Thank you so much!
I’m glad you enjoyed exploring each path as it was really fun creating each path!
Clearly I didn't expect that when the theme of the Jam was announced. You had a flash of genius with your idea of choose your own path!
Thank you!
I actually had the choose your own path idea in my head for a long time. It’s just that in my head it would end at the 4 split with 4 different endings all with the same melody but different instruments.
When the palindrome theme dropped I realized I had to change it which is when I thought about making it into the pattern it is now with a 1-2-4-2-1 path.
Very, very cool! By far the most unique submission.
Thank you!
Unique is what I wanted!
The soundtrack is lovely, I keep enjoying its vibes on and on! And its youtube realization IS very creative, man, you've done a huge job!
Thanks!
Yeah YouTube is really the only place that this would work so I didn’t put it on SoundCloud. I didn’t want people to listen to it there because it messes up the whole experience.
This is so cool! I'm really impressed that you managed to make so many songs of different styles within just 2 days.
I love the intro/outro song, for some reason it kind of creeps me out with the "here at death or at birth" lyric but that definitely added to it!
On my first time I took the Energetic Path with the Energetic Circus.
Fantastic work overall :)
Thank you!
With the lyrics and also the text the shows up on each song I tried to make it feel super introspective and almost meditative. That’s also why I used blurry moving colored backgrounds to add to the ethereal feeling.
With the lyrics specifically I tried to make them vague and otherworldly both to fit the vibe but also so that it would work as a palindrome since both ends have a similar vague lyric system going on.
congratulations, really great work, I especially like the sounds.
thank you so much!
Very original idea! brilliant
Thank you!
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Welp, this will win the creativity section haha! I don't really think there's anything to criticize here, overall a really solid submission!
Thank you so much!
Creativity was my goal. I wanted to aim for it since I feel like it’s a difficult section to really stand out in through conventional means which I guess is exactly why it’s creative.
This is the most unique submission I've seen thus far in any OST composing jam! Cool stuff!
Thank You!
Creativity was something I aimed for this time and it was also just an experiment I really really wanted to try out!
I loved how you composed everything; the mixing was solid and had a whole vibe. I love your take on this challenge, making it a whole choose your own path styled think it's very well put together
Very SWaG!- BUMPUS 🌲
Thanks a ton!
I'm really glad you liked the choose your own adventure style since it was my main goal to make that an enjoyable experience!
I also really like your signature in the comment it makes it feel more genuine!
The interactive part is quite intriguing. While this jams theme can be heard at times, I think there is room to imporve on. While the songs are not bad. I believe that having just one with a more elaboreted structure and working on just one idea would have been more beneficial, in a musical context. But nether the less, I have to commend your work and creativity.
I have to agree that making a few more defined pieces would be beneficial musically.
The reason the songs are short is because I wanted to stay under the 10 minute recommended time limit.
I also had the choose your own adventure concept ready to go in my head a month before the jam and when the theme was announced I had to find a way to make it fit my idea.
That's such a creative idea, now I need more!
a really smart take on the theme
Thank you so much!
If I did anymore song I would have had to make 12 more songs to make it work!
Then it would be 1-2-4-8-4-2-1.
I might revisit the idea in the future though without a time limit.
Nice idea and concept. I do not see how it fits with the Jam topic at hand thought.
so for the normal challenge level it just says that there has to be elements that can be listened to forewords and backwards.
The way I implemented this is the fact that whether you start with the first song or the last song, the path you take will stay the same.
For example, you can start with the first song the go to the energetic path then reach the middle song then you get to another song that mirrors the energetic path and then you reach the end song which mirrors the first song.
If you listen to these tracks in reverse order then you get the same experience since it is a palindrome.
While most of the tracks don’t have palindrome elements (through some do), the entry as a whole is meant to be a palindrome.
I haven’t words for criticism this nice idea .very impressive
thank you so much!
It was a fun idea to make a reality!
What a wonderful journey, and very ambitious! I love the different tones and the contrast you've created with these tracks. I like that even at the 4 in the palindrome, where 2 paths convey the same general emotion, they still have a tonal difference giving each track a unique feel.
**spoilers for other listeners
I was feeling jolly and took the energetic path first, went to to the circus and ended up consuming some of that flying popcorn, went back on my energy trip, and arrived at the end
Then when I got back, I took the relaxing path and made my way into the cabin and chilled out(the circus puns kind of rubbed off on me earlier), and went back on my path, back to the end.
I went back again to check out the beach, and then again to have a gaming session as well.
And then the end again... or was it the beginning, am I trapped in a loop?
Overall, this was a very fun adventure! This is really great and creative!
your playback was a joy to read!
I had lots of fun making the journey as enjoyable as possible so I am glad you went out of your way to immerse yourself in it!
Awesome concept! I chose the energetic gaming path :D
great choice! The energetic songs were my personal favorites :)
This is so cool that I feel like it should be given some sort of recognition even if it doesn't really fit the theme perfectly or win any prizes.
This is something truly special, something I think you should consider making more of.
I had come up with the concept about a month ago and l knew I was gonna do it during the jam but my plan was to have 4 different endings that all had the same melody but with aspects from the different path.
When the theme came out I was like “crap I gotta find a way to make it a palindrome!”
That’s how the 1-2-4-2-1 pathing ended up happening.
the palindrome aspect is meant to be portrayed by the fact that whether you start at the end or the beginning the paths are practically the same and it was just for simplicity I made it so there was a simple starting point.
Definitely not what I had in mind a month ago but I was really happy with the end result!
