Judge feedback

Judge feedback is anonymous and shown in a random order.

  • Loved the style of this one! The controls were a but tough to get used to. Would love some kind of visual aide to understand when to hit a note or which note. Really think you should keep developing this, it's pretty rad!
  • Made by sadists for masochists, this cute and visually appealing attempt at a game maddeningly requires that you play to the off-beat in order to produce the combos needed to proceed, making for ear-bleedingly bad noise throughout entirely of its short, creatively vapid lifespan. The concept of spreading music through the town is wonderful, but the execution is woeful and I can't imagine how this came to be.
  • I think the concept was quite unique and really liked the overall idea. Would have liked to see the notes change in some way because it got a bit repetitive. Had to read comments to see the combo was on the "down beat", that was not intuitive, and I felt like it didn't let me spread my music well :( That said, overall I was quite impressed.

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes!

Tell us about your game!
Controls & Mechanics: The game is made with controller in mind.

Use the Analog stick to walk around. Use the Face buttons to produce saxophone noises. Doing this on the beat nets you a combo. Getting a high enough combo near an npc turns them into a Fan! Get enough fans to impress the Judge at the end of the level.

Keyboard controls are WASD to walk around IJKL to use your saxophone.

Story:
It has been decided that a Universe-wide song contest will be held. Every planet shall be represented by a single musician and battle in the Universal Song Contest to find the best musician in the universe.

You play as Sax rat. A yet unknown musician who aims to charm everyone with their saxophone playing and climb the charts. Gather fans and convince the judges until you are able to conquer the town, the world, and even the universe!

Did you remember to include your Game Design Document?
Yes :)

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yep!

Extra Notes
For judging, please play the downloadable build as it's more stable. Thank you and enjoy! :)

what a fun game this is, really enjoyed the music and the walking metronome  mechanism is such a nice idea. great job, hope you had as much fun making it as I had playing it. gg!

Super fun little game, loved the mix of 2d and 3d! Was super fun to walk around and find people while jamming on the saxophone.

Loved the art style, i was so surprised how effective the 3d background with 2d characters worked. If you can pull this off in 2 weeks i cant wait to see what else you can make with more time.

Best of luck!

That was a cool game but the music of the game wont let me hear my sax. Thşs gane based on music and characters is nice but music should be lower :(. All and all it was really cool.

Fun game. Love the art style and music. Really well done! Took a bit to get the pattern, but eventually got it. High score 223. Cool concept. Did y'all build the rhythm aspect your selves? Would be interested in seeing how that works!

Beautiful visuals and music. Unfortunately I was not able to understand the gameplay, clearly I'm not very gifted when it comes to music.

Could not get the hang of the rythim unfortunately. But the game looks and sounds amazing. Congrats!

The combo system should align a little more with the music in such that if you are making combo you should continue to play the song but it's more vibrant. The current sound that comes out just plays a little longer before the next note needs to be hit which made it very hard to stay on beat, I basically had to mute the sound in order to get it.

Really cool concept and pretty art! The combo system was kinda confusing but i managed to get it a little bit by the end. Though I think it would be cool if I have to play on a consistent bpm for the scores to count

The only tragedy of this game… Is that there isn’t more

Would love to see either the rhythm aspects or follower aspects expanded upon.

I love being a rat, I love playing jazz! I wish I could figure out the beat properly and maybe have some more jammin notes but I'm loving where this is going!

Submitted

Apparently hitting keys to the beat doesn’t help… huh…

Love the art!

This art style is so cool and the vibes are immaculate. I am having a hard time figuring out the combo system and am unsure why some combos that worked before don't seem to continue working. Overall love this.

Submitted

Amazing art! This is a cool concept with quality polish. I would need some guidance on the combo mechanics.

Submitted

I loved the art style, but I didn't quite get the combo mechanics. So, I ended up just pressing random keys. It was a bit confusing

LOVE THE CONCEPT, perhaps some more tweaks with the notes?

Submitted

game feels good just need to differentiate the notes because i found more often than not that pressing the same key over and over was better than playing different keys to build combo meter
