Well put together and fun, but gets repetitive fairly quick.
Great amount of polish and details, 2D lights and shadows, dust particles when the player moves, different step sounds for different terrains, all very nice!
Is there a reason why you can't attack up or down?
Thank you very much :)
Yea that's because there was no animation for the knight in the asset pack for going up and down :D I tried to kind of solve this by adding a bigger hit radius for up and down nonetheless, but you are totally right that this should be included :)
I was just curious, didn't meant it as a complaint!
The hit detection was good, so didn't really miss the up or down attack directions.
This game is nicely scoped. It's tight and the gameplay is complete. The pixel art is great as well as the music, lighting and transitions between scenes. Some downsides are that it is a bit repetitive. I would have loved to have some enemies with ranged attacks (maybe there are in later waves. I only made it to wave 7). Overall great execution on a nicely scoped game! I think this one will end up high in the rankings.
Unfortunately there are only 3 types of enemies.. due to the lack of time, but I'd have loved to add more and especially different ones, or even boss waves! But I totally agree with you, thank you so much for the feedback :)
Who doesnt love some quality pixel art? Nice job
Awesome game! Cute art style, and the lighting and bloom effects really bring everything together.
The art and sound design are amazing! I think the gameplay is a little monotonous, though :( I feel like I have to play it really slow or I'll get killed super quick!
This is definitely an interesting game!
Itβs artwork is incredibly cute and the sound design works amazingly well with the style you are going after. Furthermore, the controls felt spot-on for what I would anticipate out of this kind of game and I enjoyed it overall!
My main complaint comes in with UI and features. This game is exceptionally well polished and put together, but in trade I feel it sacrifices mechanics. I would have loved to see additional mechanics to keep each wave interesting. As well, I felt the story option and the dual-sided bars for the rounds were a bit on the redundant side.
Overall, seriously good game! I would strongly encourage this to be developed further outside of this jam and kept as a browser game! Do this and I feel you will have a gem of a game!
Thank you so much!
You are right, I did mainly focus on the overall look, most of all small details e.g. that different ground types do different foot step sounds :D because in my past jams I focused so much on the mechanics that the looks were awful , so this time I wanted to try a different approach
But I guess what I learned from this jam is that the truth lies somewhere in between good mechanics and a great look :)
Anyhow thanks for encouraging me to continue this one!
Cute and spooky, the art is really good! It gets repetitive quickly and lacks some combat music (why not just use the menu music?) but it's enjoyable nonetheless. Nice job!
Thank you :)
Yea you are totally right! More combat features and maybe even boss waves would have been nice I guess, but well not enough time as you might know :D and I didn't put in the music because it wasn't that long and I figured that looping a 20sec music clip is rather annoying, but I agree with you :)
Yeah I totally know :D Oh I didn't realize it was that short, it's catchy tho
Very very fun! Love pixelart style :)
I could play this game for hours!
Holy crap, I loved your game! Not scary, but it's super polished and fun. Attack was a little difficult on my laptop trackpad but I still had fun. Lighting, sounds, design... it all works. And the pun of the moldy bread rising (again) haha nice job!
Thank you so much, really appreciate it :)
Its funny how all started because of one baker.
The aesthetics - especially the lighting is great.
Nice gem overall!
Yea isn't it :D
Thank you so much :)
Nice work on the graphics and the shadow casting looks great for this. Fun to play and well polished, good stuff.
Thank you very much! :)
Very nice visuals, a special attack would have been nice!
Thanks! Yea I would've loved to integrate more skills/attack and stuff but well, that's the curse of time of a game jam :D
The map design was well thought out, allowing for actual strategy to be used when facing a wave instead of just button mashing. The lighting was actually amazing, and the overall look was super polished. Good job!
Thank you! I really did try to find a good balance of different spots so nice to hear that it suits you :)
I liked the idea of lighting in Unity. Pixel art was awesome. Maybe improve on the menu a bit?
Thank you so much :) what exactly do you mean in detail? Like another art style? I am always happy about feedback I can improve on :D
No, I meant to add more animations to the buttons and more detailed buttons with a background image (parallaxed)
That might make your game SUPER AWESOME!
I alright I will keep that in mind :)
Sure. I'll keep checking the after the jam voting is done
Fantastic aesthetics and map design. The player movement feels very snappy and responsive. Most of all, we love the use of interesting lighting in your game (especially on the pumpkins). Great job!
Thanks, that was the first time I played around with lighting a little bit and I am happy with what it turned out :)
Could you post the credits in another font and make it larger? Or put a link in the game's web page? Just because the art in your game is nice and when we want to find the link of the assets, the link you posted is too hard to get to the right page......
Please respect those artists who create assets in your game. They are as important as developers.
You are totally right, that's why I posted the used assets even though I mostly used CC0 attributed work which didn't ask for crediting :) but yeah maybe embedding it in the itchio description would help
I just made them so small to fit them on one page since I didn't got any time left at the end to do a second screen for them XD
The dynamic of the game is really cool and the graphics are nice! The story is also very creative. Great game!
Thank you very much :)
That looks really awesome!
Just wow, that's a very nice and polished game! :)
Thank you very much :)
