Interesting idea, the game gets little repetitive after a while, but still good entry!
lovely memory game with some very nice pixel art. I think it has everything a jam game should have, congrats!
Nice game. It gets a bit repetitive after a while but its still enjoyable great work!
This was great! Putting all the pieces together while going back and forth through the book really created a lot of tension. I think this is one of those ideas that can really be built upon and turned into a full experience. Phasmophobia vibes in all the best ways 💜
A big fan of this game! I love the puzzle aspect of the gameplay loop; though it did take me a little to remember all the combos but overall very fun game :) I hope to it gets more updates in the future.
Interesting idea. I think the core loop shows promise and could be expanded to make the game more interesting. I think having different sprites would have made the game more visually appealing too, but I’ve read your comments elsewhere justifying why you did not do that. I think the visuals are quite good too! Well done :)
It is an interesting game, I really liked the first few levels. But as I am really bad with jumpscares, and it needs some concentratoin to check the book, I decided to stop playing before the ghost had a chance to get to the tent.
It would be nice if there was an option to turn off the jumpscare part (for the faint hearted).
Great visuals and unique gameplay! Takes a bit of messing around to pin down how to work the game, but fun once you figure out how everything works and satisfying to dispel the anomalies!
Nice entities based puzzle game. Lots of different monsters and tricks to learn. Challenging but fun to play.
Fun stuff, I love how cute the anomalies look (at first), and I'm a sucker for puzzle types. It took me a bit to get some hang of it, like understanding what I can do before it is counted as a "fail" and whatnot, and took few tries too as I'm slow reader lol
Good elements here, sound design was good, it would be cool to see more visual elements, but I suppose that goes a bit against the "figure it out" system you got here. Regardless, good work!
This had some very cool gameplay ideas. the designs for visual and sound were good too.
The art is cool. The gameplay is very unique; took me a moment to understand what to do (mostly). Not sure if I was meant to but I kinda just spammed the detection tools when an anomaly appeared... followed by a desperate attempt to quickly find and read the page about it.
Might be cool to expand this type of gameplay into a larger game where you have to put more effort into finding the entries in a book, sort of like a Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes style thing.
Cool game, also the jumpscare was actually mildly horrifying the first time.
It was very fun, I felt that my memory was being tested aswell, I had to open the book while the anomalies walked right before me lol. I really enjoyed the art, especially the whole campsite area, maybe I would have liked to have the book remember where I left reading, but besides that I really like the execution of the game!
I love the art style of this so much! interesting mechanics too. Good job!
Very well done! I’ve played this game longer than any of the other entries, and I’d say this is the one I enjoyed the most. I was a bit intimidated at first because at first I thought I had to remember what to use on each enemy before the night began 😅 but I soon realized that I could open the book whenever I want. I died right at the last stage with 9/10, which sucks, but honestly, everything felt so fluid and responsive that I can only blame myself for losing. It’s a solid game in all aspects.
Over all, I think this is a decent puzzle game. I think the aesthetics work very nicely, and the sound design was good.
That said, The instructions were not entirely clear for me. The part about “If the anomaly is removed I should try sleeping again.” suggested to me that I should remove the anomalies before sleeping, which isn’t the case and threw me off for a little.
I will admit that my confusion over the detection tools on the left and removal tools on the right was partly down to my mind not clicking with the statement (as in, it totally didn’t register with me through no fault of the introduction).
If you were to continue working on this project, I think an optional tutorial “level” would work very well. Basically, tell the player exactly what to press to detect the tutorial ghost, where in the journal to find the what to do about it, then exactly what tool to use to remove the ghost. Something for the smooth-brained players (such as myself) to get an active idea on what’s expected of me.
As I said in my stream, I could see this being a cozy little phone game. Chill on the couch with a phone out and just try to remove the ghosts!
Here’s a link to my stream of the game to haunt your Halloween season!
I love the concept and sound design! Very satisfying once you remember the recipes. I think it would be great if the items / key words in the book had different color from the rest of the text. It would be a nice balance between readability and remembering stuff, expecially for foreigners.
Fun game!! Really enjoyed it, the mechanics reminded me of some other horror game but I cant remember the name :[
