Voice acting and the small comic to establish the story were great! I also liked the pixellated style and how you couldn't use the flashlight at the same time with weapons. Very fun horror experience!

the graphics, voice acting and art style is really enjoyable! the thing I recommend tho, add a objective system to make it easier for player to know what is the objective. Also maybe an ammo indicator. Other than that its fine! nice job

The graphics and art style is great, love the retro style! Unfortunately, I found it difficult to understand what my next goal was on each event. The voice acting is really cool, as well as the music.

I did get into a bug, I got into the car and then accidentally drove uphill, got stuck there and couldn't leave, so I pressed "Restart" but the game restarted me still in the car.

Really GOOD GAME! I love the type of ps1 graphics! but  I really can't see where I'm going

Developer

Thanks! Press F to toggle flashlight!

oh really! Ok

the little comic at the start was nice for establishing the setting! it didn't really feel like anything happened though, i just sort of walked around in what felt like a circle and then got in the car and had a nice drive to the end of the game. i noticed other people mentioned a gun, i just walked past the zombies since they didn't pose any sort of threat. the environment was nice though, i liked the blue stuff in the distance at the start that acted as a landmark, it helped me to not get lost. it felt complete, so good job on this!

Nice, stylized game. Love the retro style, everything looks nicely put together and the low poly art gives it a nice touch.

The invisible zombies gave me a jump scare haha

All comic style cutscenes were really cool, gave lots of personality to the game.

One minor thing: as english is not my native language, I missed some little reminder of the mission, as I had to memorize them to not forget :D

Short and sweet! The gunplay is a bit lacking in feedback, and the sound fx can be a little repetitive, but the voice acting was welcome and pleasingly cheesy, the actual gameplay loop was satisfying, and the ending made for a good time. Overall, I think what really shines here is the aesthetics, which are absolutely on point. With some further polishing, this is gonna be a true gem of a little horror experience. I also quite liked the invisible zombies, which add an element of unpredictability and stress to the game that it otherwise would be sorely lacking. I did not find any of the other weapons, and didn't realize I had a pistol until I was wandering around after activating the radio tower, and as another said, I really liked not being able to dual-wield the flashlight and a gun. It gave me nice flashbacks to Doom 3, but with less value on the flashlight, which helped a lot with keeping things feeling stressful and tense. This was quite an accomplishment within a week.

Nice game. The comic-style cutscenes are really good, the voice acting is well done (the effects could be turned down a little, it makes it a bit hard to understand sometimes). I think a crosshair would help,  it's a bit hard to get if you manage to hit the zombies. But overall,  it's a good game. Nice job!
Developer

I did want the crosshair to be turned off to give the player a challenge when I designed the game, but I'll consider adding a crosshair toggle for an update after the jam. Thanks for your feedback!

Bro you gotta tell me how you got those graphics! I loved the pixelation and stuff. I did in-fact forget what I was supposed to do for a bit cuz radio man is hard to understand, but it wasn't too much of a problem. I don't think the restart button works right once you get in the car, I think I may have been softlocked once.

Developer(+2)

I am truly heartwarmed by your expression of appreciation for the graphics, I loved it too! Unfortunately, I am not completely sure on how the post processing and filter was made, since our other programmer Mikolaj did that stuff. I'll ask him for you and post the response here, thanks for playing! :D

At the very start, I somehow found an M16 in the house, and it seemed like that wasn’t supposed to happen, but I ended up using all the ammo right at the beginning anyway. By the end of the game, I was just walking around with a pistol. At first, I got lost and didn’t understand where to go, so I followed the road and reached a gas station where there was clearly an interactive object, but I couldn’t pick it up. After that, I just wandered into the forest looking for content. After some time, I finally stumbled upon a path and reached the tower! I also went back to the gas station a few times because I didn’t understand what to do next. But eventually, I figured it out and drove the car to the helicopter X). The game seemed simple, and in some moments, it wasn’t entirely clear what to do. But despite my criticism, the game is still good, and I enjoyed it! Great work!

Developer(+2)

Oh yeah you were actually supposed to find the AR15 in the house, that was intentional. Originally you'd find it at the gas station but I ended up deciding it'd make more sense to find it in the house so that you could fight your way through to the gas station. I'm sorry to hear that you ran out of ammo early on, even though we wanted players to be somewhat aware of ammo management nobody ran out of ammo during playtests. If you believe that it's a bug, I'll investigate it. Congratulations on finding the tower! I intended for the sign in front of you at spawn to guide you in where you'd want to go,  if you felt like that wasn't clear enough then I'll investigate that as well. Thanks for your feedback and support!

Just tried out the game, love the comic-style art for the cutscenes and the retro feel in game takes me right back to the ps1 days! I found for myself it does feel a little easy to get lost and forget what the objective is. An objective UI could have been a helpful addition. Overall great work!!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for the feedback! I have intended to add an objective UI but I wasn't able to due to time constraints. I'll check with the SCREAM JAM admins if I could as part of a bug fix due to demand, and if I can I'll update the game with the next patch to be expected today or tomorrow. Thank you for playing!

Love the retro vibe, pretty scary and good voice acting. I don't know what happened to the girl though.

The daughters are in the car :)

great project! nice work and good luck!

Thanks, you too!

This was fun! Really loved the retro feel. The weapons could have had more feedback, but overall this game was cool! (and also spooky)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback, I'll look into making the controls more instructive. I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

Loved playing this! Was super enjoyable and was such a good experience!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the compliment, I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

Submitted(+1)

As someone who also made an old retro style horror game, you SUPER nailed the look! Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for the compliment, but I'd have to credit Mik for it who did the shaders and post processing!

Took me a while to find everything but at the end it was a really good experience. i knwo its too much but maybe a map or something to see what i need to do it would increase the user experience. Besides that the voice acting and sounds where great and the invisible zombie where a pain in the  head. Really liked the game

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you enjoyed the experience, we were going to make a map at the start but couldn't finish due to time constraints. The invisible zombies shouldn't be as hard as it currently is as there are some bugs that we're in the process of patching. Thanks for your feedback!

Submitted(+2)

Loved the way the story's being told and entertaining voice overs. Found it very hard to navigate using dirt paths since they'd split so much. Combat was fine, the same zombie moaning gets reretitive however.
Good effort

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you enjoyed the game! We'll look into the zombie sounds to see if there's anything we can do about it, and I'll take your experience with the dirt path into account regarding path design. I originally wanted to make the path a bit challenging, almost maze like where the player would have to backtrack with some trial and error, and I guess I was wrong about that. Thanks for the feedback!
