I found the game to be fun to play, and I like the music and the art style.
Might just be the best game.
Sound design is fantastic, the sound effects just work so well and there's enough to make the game feel pretty alive and engaging for the player.
Sprites are really nice and they all fit really well with each other and the game in general. When all the art fits together this well it looks so coherent and consistent and when the art is this good it feels very professional.
Background with the double backdrop which move at different speeds is another really professional and add a nice amount of depth to the game world. Additionally the platform blocks having sloped edges that allow the player to both fluidly move between platforms and also prevent the player from standing on the edge for too long was genius.
Battle system is also a fantastically innovative feature and was implemented really well with the health bar and the functionality to fire off your spell in the direction of the mouse. Health potions might be a great idea to go along with the health bar in future levels as the difficulty rises and the length of the levels increases. One issue with the spells is they occasionally get stuck mid air after an orc has been defeated.
Extra spells and boss fights with a much later ending are what I'm told was planned for development but didn't quite happen due to time restrictions. It is a big shame this project didn't make it to it's desired state but none the less it's a truly brilliant project and I would certainly play this at length if it was taken any further.
The leap of faith at the end is a bit mean in my opinion but I'm a stickler for skill not luck, that's just personal preference at the end of the day though.
well done guys!
Loved it.
It was very fun to play. Especially liked how you can deflect the axes, It would be cool if they hurt the orcs as well.
The art style was nice, so was the music and the gameplay was enjoyable :)
Really liked the combat, the health bars and the enemies were really well done. Art and movement were really solid too. Just took me a little bit to understand the controls, didn't know I could shoot at first.
The inclusion of the enemy camera and health bar in the top right is genius and I love the art style and gameplay system. Only issues I encountered where that the spikes hit you even if you are just standing next to them and sometimes your fireballs freeze and get stuck on the screen.
At first I found this game quite hard because I didn't realise that I could shoot with my staff so a little menu with controls or a little tutorial would have been nice but I found the controls fairly responsive and liked the way you could shoot the axes. The little zoom ins on the main character and the goblins you were shooting at were a fun little feature as well. I feel as though a few more animations for Azuth would have been nice. BGM and SFX were nice and felt like they fit well with the game. I also liked the main menu and how the buttons worked but the game complete screen was a bit lacking. I also think a pause feature would have been nice.
Overall fun and good game with a few flaws :)
Really like this, the enemies attacks are 10x more interesting and challenging than any other i've seen so far and the cameras/health bars as a HUD is a nice touch. The parralax effect on the background was a bit jarring though in my opinion, turned into a fast moving mess of colours. Overall love it.
Some very nice pixel art that blends well together. Also I like the addition of the axe throwing orks. One thing I would change is how long the axes stay spawned as I found that you just keep taking damage when they are on the floor. IGN 10/10
Nice the shooting mechanic works well kinda gives it a bit of a 2D shooter side scroller vibe. Art style is nice and animations are good music and sound effects work well and the only bug i can really report is the last fireball to hit an enemy before they die don't de spawn till a new enemy has been hit once.
This game is pretty intriguing. I like the ability to shoot in any direction you choose.
The movement is responsive and fluid, the art-style is admirable and so are the sound effects.
It's a shame this is only one level because there's so much potential in this game, but it's already pretty good!
Well done!
This is a nice game! The sprites are cute, the sound effects are fitting, and the music is well done. Combat is definitely this game's strong point, with dynamic portraits, tracking health bars, and the ability to deflect axes.
I feel like being damaged multiple times by the same spike trap/ axe is unfair, and could be changed so you only take one damage once per object. There was also a part of the level where I had to jump down without seeing the spike traps below, falling to what felt like an unavoidable death. I would recommended tweaking the level design to avoid instances like this.
However, this is a very strong game! Very polished, and very nicely done.
Love the art and sfx to this. Gameplay was simple and easy to get the hang of. Loved the ragdoll on the axes just wish you could reverse them to damage the enemies. Great game!
I love the art for the game and the character design, the controls were also easy to understand very quickly so well done :)
Really nice art style and a cool soundtrack!
I love the way attacking works and the fact you can deflect axes!
Health bars are a nice touch making each enemy fight last a bit longer dodging those axes and doing sweet spells.
Overall had a great time will play this again for sure!
