Very pleasant game. I liked the music, visuals and ability to adjust mouse sensitivity that was way to high at the beginning (for my mouse settings). Other than that I had to look for ways to progres for a bit and the text spawn distance could be greater. One last issue I had with the game is that there were glass walls, especially in the forest close to the end of the game. For an exploration game I would like to be able to explore every single bit.
Thank you for the feedback! These are definitely all points we hope to refine in a post-jam polish, and fleshing out the map to make it more exploratory will be a key aspect (as you mentioned) :)
i love the art its really good.although the mouse sens is a bit too high and you should hide the mouse cursor
Hi Akuna, thanks for the feedback! Yes the mouse sensitivity was very high - unusually for the browser version only. This is something we'll need to address! And to hide the mouse cursor, you'd just need to click on the game window!
Very cute little game, the graphics are on point! I would have changed some of the colliders used in this game because sometimes you can float in the air.
Thanks for the feedback! Yes, colliders are one of the things we'll need to address post-jam. I was completely aware of that issue being there and told myself I'd deal with later haha!
Lovely! Very well produced too, great job. I think this game achieves exactly what it sets out to achieve. Nice sound effect when the beast disappears. Curious, were you inspired by A Short Hike, or any other game?
Thanks for your comments! Yes, I believe our artist took inspiration from A Short Hike as well as Pokemon Snap. We liked the sense of playfulness you get in those games as well as the feeling of exploration. In terms of visuals, we were looking at a tool called Sprytile and were inspired by some of its 3d demo models.
Simply beautiful. Art style is fantastic! The gameplay is so relaxing, having achievements would be really cool.
Achievements and more integration of the photo system is defs something we'd like to explore a bit further - thank you for the kind words!
Fantastic! Perfect little relaxing game. Loved the pixel art 3D style and a game about taking pictures lol. Great job!
thank you for the comment :D and glad it was relaxing haha
What a beautiful little game! By far the most wholesome thing I've played this jam. I LOVE it! Art style is so fantastic and the music really just adds so much. I just wanted to live on this little island forever. Great job!
This game looked gorgeous! I love the mixing of pixel art and 3D. Typically when I see a 3D game like this with flat sprites the sprites always rotate to face the camera but I actually loved that these stayed flat. Gameplay a side exploring around the island was super satisfying. The gameplay it's self was really nice too. Really good job on this one!
Thank you! We really wanted to try something different, and it was a lot of fun to mix the two dimensions :)
This was delightful! The art, characters, story, sound design, music, all came together so well! I really liked how you could clamber around the island.
The camera was a bit too sensitive for me, though, even though I turned down the mouse sensitivity all the way, so I got a bit woozy while playing and had to look away occasionally. Also, I think I missed whatever the first photo should have been (the fun on the lake), but it didn't seem to affect the game progression?
Really wonderful submission; I love exploratory games like these!
Thanks for the feedback!
Really sorry about the mouse sensitivity issue! In a future version, we’ll most likely have a wider range for that setting to better accommodate for everyone.
And yes, we intentionally didn’t require the photo on the lake to be taken, and it’s something we’d address post-jam to make it clearer why it wasn’t necessary. We wanted it to feel like the game was asking you do these tasks and then have that switch to something else. Other comments have been made in a similar vein so it’s definitely something for us to look at!
So cute and relaxing, would love to see a full version of this!
Thank you! We're interested in possibly extending this style of gameplay further so it's heartening to hear :)
Very nice game! Loved the atmosphere, the graphics and audio are really good. The picture snapping mechanic can be expanded, it looks promising
Thank you! We were definitely inspired by Pokemon Snap and the exploratory feel you get from those games
Breathtaking visuals on this game. The audio blends in really well and never felt lacking or too much. The atmosphere was set from the start which was great. Amazing work you guys!
Thank you so much for the comments! We're glad the atmosphere came through as we were really excited to create a rich world to explore!
lovely game ♥ loved it! the art and music are so cool and soothing
i did a ton of photos, would be fun to be able to download them hehe
quick question : is there a way to meet Boss? what happened to them, i'm worried! Q-Q
Thank you for playing, i'm glad the photography experience was fun :D - if you talk to the rabbit looking at the footprints, he will help you reach the top of the mountain so you can reach the boss! It's not super clear right now, so we're definitely going to address this post-jam :)
ha, yes! got it :) thanks
big guy is so cute hehe
Amazing atmosphere, you created a wonderful world! I loved both the 3d assets and the pixel art, sound design was also great. The gameplay was very enjoyable. You should do some polishing and turn this into a whole game! Reminded me some of the Wii era games. Also, my favorite character, of course, was the little opossum in the canoe!
thank you for the review!! wii era games are the best and i definitely thought about wuhu island while making the map 😂 - we'll definitely be polishing the game up and experimenting more with this style! (and agreed, opossums are super cool)
I adore the art style, and the game play was fun. The camera implementation felt a bit off, as you had to be in precise spots for a photo to 'count.' Which left funny moments like having the cryptid in the camera until the moment you walked where the game recognizes you are taking a picture. The island is very beautiful, but traversing it was a bit hit and miss. Especially the scouts being able to remove the log was unintuitive, and it took me quite some time before I found the one person who could help me further. But that didn't hamper the experience much. Good work.
There were quite some minor things I notice, so I'll list them all here. There were some graphical issues. Objects can clip through the camera overlay, and there is a seem near the boss hat. Multiple objects seem to have some missing polygons, especially after the secret tunnel you can walk into the side of the ramp. There was also something that looked like test dialogue with the creatures on the beach. Jumping from above on the house at the beginning had weird collision and warping effects. The trees near the top have weird hitboxes, seemingly a small hole in the invisible wall.
thank you for playing and for all the detailed feedback, we'll definitely be addressing many of the things you brought up in a post-jam polish 👍 we're still working out a few things with gameplay and graphics as it's our first time working in 3D and the first person perspective, so all the things you picked up on are super useful - but we're glad the experience still came through and you enjoyed it! :D
GG!!!!!!
📸 😁
The graphics are really good. And mixed with the great sound design creates a really nice and cozy experience. The only thing I would've changed is the way dialogue is presented as it got a bit weird to read some of them since you needed to look upwards quite a bit. Otherwise amazing job!
Thank you for the comments! The dialogue implementation was a bit of an experiment tbh so we'll definitely take your issue into account in a post-jam polish :)
The art style is awesome! Love the 2D in 3D. Sometimes I forgot the actual purpose of the game because I was distracted by just walking around and see what I could find.
Great job!
Thank you for the feedback - unintentionally turning into open-world exploration game is a high compliment :D
This is VERYYY CUTEE, I love the environment and the cute graphics, and the sound of the waves made it 10x better. Great Game!
Thank you so much! We had a lot of fun building the environment and the characters - glad you enjoyed the game :D
Absolutely adorable. I loved it, from the art style, the characters, the secrets, the charm, everything. The platforming was a cool twist as well, didn't expect to have to clamber up the side of the mountain like that but it was awesome! The sound design is impeccable, the rushing of the waves, the calming music, the nice shutter sound all comes together and creates an awesome package that anyone can sit down and smile at. Well done.
Thank you for playing and for your kind words - i'm glad you caught all the little details we put into the world, and that you enjoyed the experience 📷😊
