This is great, gameplay is super balanced, controls feel responsive, the boss is pretty tough :D

Great job!

I quite liked it! It was fun trying to balance points and lives, and kept me entertained. Good job!

Kept seeing your comments around and wanted to check out your game, absolutely worth it <3

I love this, probably one of my favorite submissions. The balance between "should I shoot?" and "should i die and make a huge laser beam?" is just right, and getting the shot right and destroying everything is really satisfying. It's well polished, the visuals are great too, awesome job!

Nice retro shoot 'm up kind of game :)!

The audio fits the art style and the art was good.

It was crazy shooting sometimes but I enjoyed it :).

A little tip: the game windows was a little bit small on my 4K screen. Maybe some options to enlarge that in a next game.

Overall: job well done :D!

Nice take on the theme, art looks super polished and I enjoyed when the ship explodes causing massive damage. Also a fan of the retro inspired music. I felt like the hitbox as the blue orb rather than the whole ship was a bit confusing and it seemed like you really had to stockpile a number of lives to survive the boss at the end. But I enjoyed the game to the end and quite polished for a game jam.

Really fun and unique concept, ended up with 195600 but haven't defeat the boss yet. Good job and it fits the theme really well!

It was a really really good game! My only real complaint was that player felt a little stiff, adding in some left/right animations, and a little bit faster and slightly floatier movement would've made the character feel great. If this gets continued, it'd be really cool if the games difficulty was purposely jacked so that you'd get overwhelmed and have to use your mega blast to clear off the screen. The music was also really good, and the game certainly didn't outstay it's welcome. Amazing game!

This was an incredible game, well done! The gameplay reminds me of the game Frantic, if you ever played that, in that it's a fast paced top down shooter with bullets going everywhere and tons of action. The movement is good to control, if a little buggy at times, and the firing felt just right too, although, especially later in the game, it was a little underpowered compared to just throwing yourself into the enemies. The mechanic of using yourself and your lives as a weapon, though, was very well implemented and chaining up reactions and score was great fun. Of course, more gameplay would've been nice - things like more powerups, enemy types, and so on, but what's there is still great. It was some really solid gameplay, so great job there!

As for the graphics, they looked really nice. The pixel art look worked very well, and even though each enemy was just a recolour or size difference, it was still easy to tell them apart and see what they did, and the UI and score popups were clear as well. The background was good too - simple, but still visually distinct. It's a really great game overall, and it was a great experience playing it - phenomenal work!

Thanks! Frantic was actually a huge inspiration in the direction I was taking this game. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

So I guess my idea wasn't original :(

(cool game though)

I really enjoyed it! The juice and the screenshake explosions have are great! I think the player's bullets need a little bit more juice to them, as they feel a bit lifeless in such a lively game. A really polished game overall :D

Super fun!! Very nice polish, and I love the combo enemies that you can chain together to blow everything up :)))

Really good fun. Would recommend :)

I really like the idea and the art. It feels and looks really good and everything is very fluid. However, the collision didn't seem to properly work: bullets passed through me on more than one occasion. In addition, I was able to get through multiple waves of enemies by just sitting still. Maybe make the bullets less easy to hit or stop them tracking the player (if they do that at all)?

Developer(+1)

Your hitbox is reduced to the blue circle on your ship to make it easier to avoid bullets. As for the difficulty, yeah, if I continue working on this, I'll try to figure out a way to discourage sitting still for too long.

great! i'd reccomend providing some indicator of that, maybe mild feedback for a hit on the main ship with no actual damage done?

I had the same idea for the jam but i didn't manage to finish it on time. Maybe you made my game for me x). It was really fun to play !

Submitted(+1)

That's was really fun! I would absolutely play a longer version of this. My only extremely minor complaint is that I wish there was slightly more invincibility time after respawning.

Good game! Special mention goes to the juice in this game. You put just enough screenshake in there for everything illegally satisfying to do with the game still being readable. The sound plays a big part in that, too.

I got 353600 points!

Also that is 100% the Megalovania synth in your music. Don't think I didn't notice

Replying to my own comment because I forgot to mention the surprising amount of strategy there is - it's simplistic, but no doubt it's there.

Reached Score 36000 at the first try. It was very fun! Though it would have been nice if there was an option to play in fullscreen

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Also, you can use Alt + Enter to make it fullscreen. I posted that on the main page, but I didn't realize no one can see the description here on the jam page. I probably should've written that on the title or something, but oh well. Glad you had fun!
