Yeah I managed to give him fish after all after playing again, thank you for hints… xD It makes me think this game is similar to a puzzle game, which is pretty cool, yeah maybe just ppl new to genre need more directions than usual :)

Unfortunately couldn’t try this game myself, my antivirus doesn’t let me download. Watched it only on stream.
I like the visuals, looks unique and calming, it’s very pretty. And I saw on stream that it’s made completely from scratch, just in visual studio, which imo is very impressive ^^
It seemed great and feels like a relaxing game. Hopefully someday I would be able to try it too, maybe if you can make a web build :)
It’s an interesting approach to taking care of your pet, I like that :) The assets you used are very pretty but the frog is SO SO SO STINKIN CUTE! >v< If you drew the frog, as I understood from your page, I would love to see the whole set drawn by you (ofc I understand you didn’t have time because jam, I am just imagining it would look cute and unique ^^)
Overall I think the game has good potential as the concept is interesting, just needs some more love and polishing after jam, if you want to explore this idea.
**Nitpicks/bugs: **
-
Hitbox of my character feels a bit wrong, as I often get hit when it’s not visually obvious (distance between me and the monster) and so I have to approach monsters slowly while holding attack to find that thin sweet spot where my attack will land, but I won’t get damage.
-
One time a monster spawn right where I stood when I started the wave and immediately game me a lot of damage. I feel like it should be avoided somehow, maybe even by giving 1-2 second invulnerability to MC as the wave starts?
-
Encountered a bug where after using defense button my character refused to get of that stance ever again:
- I didn’t realize right away I need to click on items in my Pet info tab to give them to froggie ^^’ But that’s maybe me, you did say in description to give her items, but for some reason I thought me picking them up is enough XD
**Suggestions: **
-
The froggie friend seems to be just hopping around, would be nice if she participated or maybe we had to protect her too.
-
I could also jump with Space, which I found more comfortable for me, so you can add it as an option to controls (I just kinda used it on muscle memory and my brain wasn’t even surprised it worked even tho Space wasn’t in list of controls xD)
-
As MC has 2 diff attacks, it can get confusing when you expect one or the other; I feel like it’s better to diverge them to 2 different buttons. Maybe using just Space for Jump and S for one of two attacks.
Hopefully this helps <3
Ahh thank you for such a nice and long comment! And for your support during the stream too :)
The intro movie does have music in it, so if it didn’t play, it means it’s another bug with intro :’)
Also glad the gradient worked out so well, it was a spontaneous idea and I am happy it worked!
I feel like movement is more janky with the mouse… But anyway yeah, I don’t much control movement in this engine & I think it might be a bit slow in WEB version (like the game, is a bit more laggy).
And yeah, on topic of food: at first you only needed 5 points to proceed, but then I added more Listen voicelines, and also was worried about players missing something, like a mini game even, so decided to up it to 10 points; but the line about trying more food stayed ^^’’
Thank you for playing!! I am glad you enjoyed <3
Don’t worry about which page you posted in, I can still see it! <3 Was just busy with work (especially since I spent ~4 watching stream instead of working xD) and didn’t have time to get to more recent comments yet!
And thank you for your sweet words, I am happy you enjoyed the game and thanks for the compliment about voice over :^)
Ah I was sad to see you deleted that comment! And I already wrote a separate reply xD : Thank you! I am glad intro worked for you. It really is a hit or miss (and that’s why I couldn’t figure out how to fix it so it works 100% of times!) And I can’t take credit for the word monstruo - it means “monster” in Spanish, but I really really like it and think it sounds cute :)
I love the voice-over, it’s really cute! And the amount of what you managed to do in this short time is impressive. The take on the theme is original, too ^^
I am not used to this genre, so it was a bit hard for me to understand even with tutorial to be honest T_T I watched Tobugis playing it on stream but played it myself after so I didn’t rememeber what they did right xD and trying also looking at your screenshots to understand how to farm and deliver food and also restarted the game to listen to turotial again but…
I can’t seem to figure it out T_T
That was so cute!!
There are some bugs (apple picture staying even after apple is given) and someone needs to proofread the text but these are just small details and didn’t obstruct my enjoyment of the game.
I liked how you added some animation to visual-novel-parts of it and how you drew everything yourself. The gameplay part with tamagochi was pretty fun, though I wanted to run faster but I think it’s just me being impatient xD
The story was really sweet. I was like awww in the end ^v^
Cute!
Somehow I feel as if I am playing a Snake game when driving the truck, in a satisfying way, which makes me want to enjoy the game for longer, but there are a few things (some mentioned on stream):
-
maybe make stats go down lower?
-
movement feels confusing
-
up the spawn of items
-
change the button for restart or for delivery
-
if it’s possible, would be cool to slow down a bit on the yellow spot
In general, I did several tries but encountered game over for many reasons but quite quick (or restarted on accident while delivering the goods)
It did become a bit easier once I got a hang of the movement a bit more, but for example on one run I just didn’t encounter ANYTHING before hitting game over :(
Overall - the idea is super cool and I feel like this game has lots of potential!! Would be great to see an updated and more polished version <3
Thank you for playing! And for reporting a mistake, I’ll look into it! >_<
I have to say there’s something with my music writing skills that makes my melodies always turn out sad or anxious or scary, even when I try to make them upbeat. But yeah, usually it works with the games because they also turn out that way (I guess that’s my creative curse).
And yeah, it’s an RPG Maker MV game, maybe they changed something but exporting to Web wasn’t that hard at all, the only problem is that it is guilty of NOT exporting important files and then crashing, so you have to identify which file was overlooked by the engine and manually add it to the folder before making a ZIP out of it ^^
Thank you ^v^ RPG Maker is the one I am the most familiar with and it’s fun to try and make different “genre” of things in it~
And yes, all the audio is recorded by me :) It was very fun to do!
Considering the lamps, I wanted to make it a bit harder as that mini-game is easy at its core, but I agree it will be good to make an aura of light around the lamps that are on, definitely will update it when I have time after jam <3
Very cute blobs ^v^
And I like the little animations on them too.
It’s a really cool addition to a stream, though I always want to check the stats and all but feel bad about flooding the chat window. And overall I think the main downside (?) is that it creates a lot of additional lines in chat window so it is harder to keep up with actual messages in chat (but I am not sure if that’s something that is possible to solve)
OK so I played a bit more and managed to figure everything out now and managed to keep Her pretty happy ^^
I like the take on Tamagochi theme, and also how cozy it feels to have a tiny screen; and as I said before, it’s cool to have such a game as an overlay over the desktop.
“Feeling cozy” is my favourite state, it’s just so cute. And overall the character and everything is cute.
The style is cohesive, might not be my personal favourite kind of style, but it works extremely well (I would only change/mute the colour of the couch a bit, it is too loud and stands out too much).
Music also I found a bit oppressive for a small cozy game, it’s hard to listen to it for too long.
Loved the little animations during activites (brushes, cookies, etc)! That’s adorable ^v^
Really sweet concept overall, and feels quite finished/polished! Great job :3
I did enjoy it, thank you ^^ I don’t mind at all there is only one mini game, especially since it’s a jam! It was just hard for me to grasp the mechanics of the one you made :(
And about the game over… Well, he did conquer the world in the end, right? Maybe it’s a good ending after all >:))
*Also, your rabbit on profile pic looks absolutely precious!!! <3
Stefan has decided to conquer the world. What can I say… Is it because I suck at snack ball? xD
All in all, the game felt unique in a way, which is cool! Nice take on tamagochi theme, too. Cool idea to make poop valuable xD
I like little pictures representing Stefan’s needs, though they weren’t 100% clear to me, I just looked at what stats are rising from which actions and tried to assume what is what.
Stefan himself is well drawn, though I have to say that brown shading makes me feel like he has some kind of illness :( It was probably not intended that way but it’s the impression it gave me. I realise it’s just a colour pattern of your rabbit but it stands out too much in the drawing, maybe also because there is no shading on the picture, or maybe because it’s too much more vivid than the gray colour.
And yeah, snack ball… Tried it several times but never really got a grasp of it T_T
That’s quite a unique take on the theme! The mechanic of tamagochithrowing instantly reminded me of yo-yo and gameplay felt mostly fluid and satisfying. I feel like there might be some hard edges to smooth out, but overall it felt intuitive and when you get used to it, and also get some upgrades too, it becomes more smooth. Before that, it feels like your tamagochi is a bit cumbersome and gets stuck in the enemies instead of going thru them. But as it grows more powerful, these irritations mostly go away.
I liked the graphics as well! Really pretty, love the pixel art <3
Is music done by a member of the team? If so, it would be nice to include them here in the jam. And if it’s a used asset, then I can’t rate the audio :(
Quite chill and relaxing, while pretty engaging, I enjoyed my time with it. Upgrading time was my favourite. It was fun choosing different stats and deciding on builds in a way ^^ Even after aquiring many different fighters, Yum was still my favourite as we’ve been together the longest xD
And yeah, visually they are all adorbs! I really like the creatures, and the UI layout you made too, it’s easy to understand and very inuitive.
I agree that difficulty of the game isn’t too high, you usually win fight after fight, but I don’t mind that personally. Just becomes a cozy game where I choose diff builds for my creatures and watch them fight +_+
And hehe, my favourite got some ice cream at the end. That made me quite happy ^v^
I managed to do a few things before I got stuck as well like a fellower commenter:
Got to see the kitchen, the toilet, and then when I chose sleep my cat went to play destroying rectangular blocks in the middle of the screen xD
I was looking forward to this game because pinball. I like the mechanic of pinball itself and think it’s very fun. And I did have fun playing this game as well, though the pinball mechanic felt quite… curious here.
First of all, lots of time I can kinda “brute force” it by simply clicking Space energetically. It doesn’t matter if my cat touches any Pinball objects on the screen, there would still be a significant result.
Secondly, I am not sure if physics of pinball make any sense here or not as I did feel as if my actions correspond with game’s reaction, but at the same time it felt very chaotic.
On topic of art, I think the pictures you drew all look very cute (especially the toilet XD); what about backgrounds, are they assets from somewhere? They are quite pretty but don’t seem to match your style that I see here.
I’d like to try it again once you solve the issue with the kitty getting stuck =^v^=
Very cute concept. I love butterflies :)
I was confused at first because they didn’t seem to produce their own eggs for me though. I only got the eggs from the shop (and I did play / let it be idle on my screen for a while) and clicking on the big heart didn’t seem to do anything :( But then I clicked on Tutorial again and realised that it can be hidden and after THAT breeding menu came out xD And I could start finally making new coloured eggs!
I liked how even from base eggs the butterflies were coming out slightly different. A bit darker or lighter shade, combinations of two shades. Nice attention to detail!
Some combinations looked quite pretty, too, with gentler colour palettes and more interesting shades ^^ And the results make sense based on general rules of mixing colours.
In the end, I enjoyed the game after figuring out how to play it, thought it was quite sweet and relaxing <3
cutie:
P.S. I noticed you credited artists in the team but also used pre-made assets. Could you specify how much of external assets did you use in this project? :3
That’s a really cute idea! I like the overall feel of the game, sound effects, and somehow visually it makes me feel a bit nostalgic. Like something about it is so “retro”. The assets you used are cute but as they are not yours I can’t really rate them. However, I’d say the choice of gray colour for where UI is located - I am not a fan of, would love to see something more colourful :)
Also, the naming of stats doesn’t feel quite right: as Hunger rises with food, it should be renamed sth like Satiety, same with Boredom, it seems the full bar means my otter is not bored at all, and if so, this stat has to be renamed as well. Thirst was also rising when drinking, which is counter intuitive as well. I feel like simple re-naming of the stats would help, otherwise you would need to change the mechanic and make these bars decrease instead.
I liked the mini-game with catching fishies, it was simple and cute. Do I understand correctly that it is endless? As I could stop it only by changing the activity.
Overall, sweet and relaxing game, good entry for a jam ^^
OK, now I’ve figured out how to play properly, I went and replayed the game 4 times x)
I hope it’s not too much of a spoiler for others if I post my first result:
Though my fav was the one I got after feeding him only cotton! :3 So cute and plumpy!!
Overall, I really enjoyed the game, and will probably replay a few times more to see more of the “base” dragon forms as well (I feel like I figured the way combos work visually so mostly curious about base ones now).
The art is fantastic, it’s super cute, animations are adorable as well; the way lil dragon stretches his neck a little, for example, was so precious. I loved playing with him and taking care of him ^v^
The gameplay of finding out different combinations and base forms is very engaging and fits the theme super well!
I liked the sound effects too, quite adorable! I have to say it’s impossible not to rate audio as I need to check all the categories here to submit my vote. I can rate 1 as you said music is not yours but other audio is by you so it becomes a bit complicated.
In terms of nitpicks:
- I didn’t realize right away that I need not to just click on clean/pet function and click on dragon and be done, but actually hold it there for a while. Especially since click-click works with food and medicine. I feel like it could be helpful to specify somewhere?
- When the dragon decides to go to sleep, at first there is not visual indication, but you can’t interact with him anymore, because in reality he has already started his night time routine. Maybe adding some visual effect that shows he is getting ready for sleep would be helpful, so this aspect is not confusing ^^
What else…
Really liked the way main menu is presented, with a little clicker mini game incorporated in there. All the food items and their little animations also look fantastic.
And, I noticed each time it was a different total amount of foods required for evolution. Or is it simply timing? Probably not, as when I couldn’t feed my dragon, it obviously wasn’t growing up (I waited a long time then, I think). So I am a bit curious what is the threshold for evolution (maybe it depends on food, how much does he need?)
Unfortunately I can’t seem to figure out how to play the game; I’ve installed it and that went fine, and I really like how it’s a small overlay to have on your desktop, that’s really cool!
However, I couldn’t do anything with Her. I tried clicking on different things around Her room, at herself, waiting, tried to drag Her to a couch/computer/etc - nothing helped. She just roamed around for a while, her stats slowly decreasing; then she covered herself in the blanket (Cozy mood, as I understand) and I was hoping now I could interact with Her, but she wasn’t reacting to me clicking on couch, or anything at all :(
Then the game started beeping, stats decreasing completely, and poor girl fell on the floor crying. I tried to click on her a lot but no reaction. And that was it :(
I’ve started playing your game, drawn in by a pretty cover, but can’t rate it yet because I couldn’t experience it in full:
As I understand, 100% hunger means that the monster is very hungry, right? But mine refused to eat anything after first 3 foods I gave him.
So, after that Hunger line reached 100% for me, it stayed that way for a looong time. I waited patiently, took up a book I am reading, and waited, but each time I tried giving him any of the foods again, he was all like NOPE. NA-AH. NO.
Do I just need to wait some longer time before I can feed it again? But if he is very hungry (100%), why doesn’t he want to eat anything? :(
I’ve rebooted the game and after 7 foods this time encountered same issue again. My dragon only sleeps and walks around and sleeps again and refuses to eat. Seems like it doesn’t get dirty anymore either.
Thank you, I am happy to see the idea of the game well understood and details noted <3
And thank you for criticism also, I’ll take it into account. I’ve noticed myself that text is not very comfortable to read at times but tried to solve it with text colour which it seems didn’t help at all ^^’ I’ll try to make the gradient less vivid or text boxes more solid.
Glad you liked audio too, I had fun voice acting all the sound effects :)
