Thank you, I appreciate your compliments on the level design! It's awesome you were able to beat it eventually, I'm glad you enjoyed it enough to stick with it. We'll be extending this game to be a full length steam release and I hope that I can improve the level design even more when we're working on it. Thanks for sharing your gameplay as well, it's helpful and fun to watch!

Unfortunately I am an evil person and wish to make game brutal and evil like me. However, I appreciate the feedback nonetheless!

Thank you so much!

I appreciate it. I think difficulty modes weren't really appropriate for the NES so that's why there's cheat codes. If you beat it let me know!

Thanks, I really like the Lost Levels and wanted to make a game like it!

Thank ye kindly

Thank you. Infinite retries are in the game as a cheat code actually! You can find it on the itch page if you're interested!

Ah shoot, wish I saw that earlier. Ah well, I'm glad I got to play what I did.

We're also taking a break before going back to work on our game so that's completely understandable, take your time and get some rest, y'all earned it!

Really liked the writing in this one, love me some mini games. Also I liked that they matched the personalities of the object you were picking up (or should I say characters you pick up?). Anyway, it was fun and goofy and I liked it.

I really love this game, it feels like the NES and DS had a baby since it's got kind of dual screen gameplay thing going on. I'm a sucker for games where you have to balance two tasks at once and this game does it masterfully. I did unfortunately hit a bug that did not allow me to complete the game though. After getting what is I assume the last band mate I hit a glitch that did not allow me to see what was next and it just looped back to the cutscene where you got them over and over. But still, what I was able to play was FANTASTIC. I really think you guys should continue working on this game and publish it once it's done, I'll be there day one if you do.

I played this for a bit and I think as it currently stands it's probably much stronger as a 2 player game than a 1 player game. It really needs some kind of scoring system in 1 player so you know how long you've been going at it. But, it is pretty fun to try and get the timing just right even when you're playing on your own.

Pretty cool game, glad that in this jam there was some old school shmup representation. They dynamic difficulty is a pretty cool idea although I don't know if it actually was changing much, although that could be just because I wasn't getting hit a lot. I think a score system would greatly improve the game if you were to decide to implement one as it would create more of an incentive to raise the difficulty, but that's just my thoughts. Good job, especially given you only had 4 days to work on this!

This is a really fun game that evokes the feeling of those NES Zapper type games. Reminds me of both Duck Hunt and Baby Boomer. I liked the idea of upgrading your gun between rounds, gives a nice sense of progression without sacrificing the skill it would take to shoot all the dinos down. Unfortunately I think the hitboxes on the dinosaurs are way too small, there would be a lot of times where I would have the cursor directly on the dino and nothing would happen. After playing for a while I was able to intuit where the hitboxes are in relation to the sprite so it wasn't a total dealbreaker but it did take some getting used to.

Oh yeah, if you try to extend this game after the jam that'd be an awesome feature to add.

Gotta say, I think this might be one of my favorites out of the whole jam. I'm blown away by all the different monster designs. Music is great and it all feels like it could reasonably be an NES game. I did find an exploit where you can keep using the Fire Starter's third move over and over again and basically annihilate any threat in the game, but I'm not holding that against this game since it probably was already very hard to balance all the different monsters. Great job overall!

Pretty cool game. My favorite thing has to be how the audio changes as you descend deeper and deeper! It really gives a sense of atmosphere to the game and guiding bob through the water is a genuine challenge.

This game is really cool and ambitious. Reminds me a lot of Zelda II and Metroid in particular. NES feel is off the charts with this one (it's an especially nice detail that enemies stop and reload as soon as they're off screen). I do think that enemies have a bit too much health though, it seems to take forever to kill even basic enemies which gets a bit tedious since their patterns are pretty simple.

Fun, but REALLY difficult. Not that that's a complaint, mind you. The gameplay was unique enough that it took me a while to wrap my head around it. Pretty cool twist on NES puzzle gaming!

Wow, whoever did the pixel art for this game KILLED it. Absolutely gorgeous. Short and sweet but you guys got something cool here. I think if I have to criticize anything though the movement speed and gravity of the character feel a bit slow and it could just be a bit faster. Nice job to everyone here though!

I can't really seem to do anything but place tiles, but kudos to you for getting the hexagon tiles working, I know it can be a pain.

It's just naturally really fun to destroy stuff! I went ON A RAMPAGE! I do think the buildings need to react in some way though when you hit them and not just when they've entered their destroyed state. Pretty good for a first try though!

Feels just like Mega Man (and that's a compliment)! It's impressive you got all that functionality of the moveset done in 2 weeks. Final boss is really cool too.

It's basic but fun! Definitely in line with the kind of games the NES has even if the NES never had a rhythm game to my knowledge. I really wish there was some way to resize the window though, it appeared SUPER tiny on my screen and it made it hard to play. Still, I had fun regardless

Definitely has some of the best presentation in this jam, hands down. The enemy collision is a little wonky though, I think it could be solved by putting the player and enemies on different collision layers. Pretty neat game though, I see the Ninja Gaiden influence pretty clearly!

Woo! Glad we got at least one person who did! :D

How far did he get then?

I have zero idea why this game isn't more popular. I really love the concept and it feels like a genuine NES game. Hopefully it picks up some traction as the jam progresses. Nice submission! With a bit more polish this game could be something great! :)

Speed running is one of my favorite things to do when playing games so it was a nice surprise to see that someone made a game based around it! Dive move is pretty neat too

First time I heard anyone call him a banana bird, but I like it lol

I'm honestly just glad you gave it a try, even if it's not really your thing. Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks! How far did you make it to if you don't mind me asking? I think I know due to something you said, but I just want confirmation

Pretty neat concept for a game. You know the detective is hard boiled when he called the a villain an XXX! Audio is pretty nicely done. I think if you wanted to expand on this game it's not a bad concept for a puzzle game. It's a shame what you have here is so short, but you submitted something and that is a pretty good for a game jam.

I made my game in Godot as well, if you need help finding that bug I could try to give you a hand

Even though there's not much going on here gameplay-wise I really love the aesthetic and sounds of this game. Definitely nailed NES feel in my opinion. I like my games spooky

I hope that your game dev journey goes well, this is a great start!

Not too bad, definitely nails NES feel. I think it's pretty good game design that you have to jump on those weird guys before clearing one of the early levels. Introducing new mechanics that are required to clear stages in a safe spot like that makes getting through levels pretty intuitive

Thanks for playing it! I definitely could have displayed that very easily but I didn't want to clutter the UI too much. However I think you're probably right about that in hindsight. That's noted for next time I make a game for a game jam. How far did you get if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks, I was very happy with the sound designer for the game, he really nailed it in my opinion as well

Oh man, this game is cool. Survival horror on NES. I had a great time playing through it. I think my one criticism is that ammo is just a little too plentiful, I never ran out in my entire playthrough. Good stuff!
